  • As autistic individuals we tend to operate via a 'single focus' lens. We give our attention over to one thing or a few related things, at any one time. This is governed by our interest. It usually means we have no spare attention for other things. often the best way to join our attention (with permission of course) is to join our interest. This cognitive style is called monotropism. So, this short video is an introduction to being mono.

Hi, I agree. From my point of view, monotropism is the best explanation of what autism is.

It's certainly the best all round explanation I have come across.

Thank you for the effort put into this video. Monotropism didn't really catch my interest, but....
Is the glass half full or half empty? I don't know. Did you just add the liquid? Half full. Did you just pour out the liquid? Half empty. Otherwise, it's half a glass of liquid. Also, Bart Simpson answered the "sound of one hand clapping" question decades ago. The egg came before the chicken. Of course the tree made a sound when gravity dragged it to the earth of the forest.
(Um... sorry to be a bother. I just noticed, the title is missing an "o" between the "n" and "t".)

I wonder what state of mind an AuDHD individual would have?

That has been studied. Slightly less monotropic than autists for adhd alone.
