Always loved his live shows , Saw one of his last performances with Rosalie Sorrells. So personable on stage and very approachable. I don't know of another story teller as captivating and amusing as Utah...R.I.P. you old Wobble....

@@randyelliott9152 ... Utah came around pretty much every year to the Sounding Board Coffeehouse in Hartford and sometimes brought someone wonderful with him and/or recommended them for hiring... Rosalie Sorrels, Kate Wolf, and Priscilla Herdman.
Wonderful singers who we might not have heard otherwise. Although, come to think of it, Sandy and Caroline Paton may have had a hand in Rosalie's first visit, since I think she had at least one record on their label, Folk Legacy, and they were the inspiration for the coffeehouse itself.

How I miss him. First met him at the Festival of American Folklife in Wash DC in 1976 as part of the Bicentennial. A great soul.

philip song well anarchists are just communists that disagree with traditional marxists on the usefulness of the state making anarchism a form of communism which itself is a form of socialism

It is funny how in the history of Labor Unions it originally started with the backing of the Republican Party back in the late 1800's until about 1935.
Then organized labor went to supporting Democrats (who also supported the KKK all through the 1950's) and still continue to do so.
I was an Executive Board member in my Union and went roundabout with others who decided that Unions should support Democratic candidates in order to get "labor friendly" rights passed through state legislation.
I explained to them that if these benefits are passed through state laws, then who in the Hell is going to pay Union Dues to get the exact same benefits?
I am a Joe Hill Union guy.
Do you want the benefits of being in a Union?
    Then join a f'*king Union!!!
The Republican Party is now supporting Labor and the Progressive Democrats want to give all the benefits away through legislation.
It is the death knell for Unions to team up with them.

actually unions should not affiliate themselves with any political party. Electoral politics is an enemy of the working class

Republicans fucking love corporations and hate unions more than Democrats do. Most Democrats do as well, though

The only thing I find funny is how much copium you were on when you typed this. Both parties were heavily anti-union in the late 1800s and that didn't change until the progressive movement started gaining steam in both parties in the early 1900s, anyone who knows anything about the Gilded Age and the Progressive Era knows that the Republicans sure as heck weren't pro-union, as they were the ones sending in the troops to break up strikes or to back up corporate militias until Teddy was president. Which quickly reversed again in the '20s when the progressive movement died out. Republicans do not support labor today, they are pro-business and anybody who has even the slightest awareness of American politics should be able to figure this out. I really hope you actually cracked open a history book about the labor movement and actually learned about modern politics since you typed this.

Yeah this has got to be one of the most moronic things I've ever read. Unions are political organizations that should be exerting pressure on all organs of government to grant better working standards to all workers... that's literally what solidarity means.
