(During raid of someone on your squad ) once Any hero walked over a trap by a enemy unit the trap will defend/attack the enemy unit/uses its ability. different traps have different abilities ,you can also use them for defending your castle . Go to the castle tab/option and set Your squad and traps by clicking to option/button "guard".
