I'm really glad I found this. I love the Forrest Gump-like editing where you infuse the real film with your own parody. Made me laugh. I saw Man of Aran for the first time a few days ago when I recorded it off one of those tacky film channels on Sky. It's a film I think only fil students know about. Again, thank you for making this. I will remember it always.
I have the Deepest Respects for The People of the Aran Islands. This was a home movie that we made while staying in the "House that Robert Flaherty built" for the film, I know his relatives, and they all knew about our "documentary spoof", yes it is amateurish ( like over half the video's on UA-cam) The Man of Aran was a well recieved , and great Movie ! ----- But with that said; this was a "Staged Documentary" ---- Flaherty paid Islanders to Act-out scenes, he built "Sets"......( for example; the Islanders hadn't hunted for Shark in over 50 years - when this was filmed ) it was in sense the first "Reality Show"( which as we all know are staged !) It was basically , a " staged Film " - meant to entertain. This video is not meant to insult , only be a Irony, and entertain our family members all over the world. Thank You
