When I was in the Philippines I had a friend when I was in first grade. He was clearly gay and his folks accepted him. His dad even bought him barbies so he has his own when we play. I always admired that and it stuck with me growing up. But I never understood the hate of others towards his gender preference. Religion definitely plays a role but when it comes to your child those beliefs should over ride it and remember the other teachings in the bible. I'm glad the Philippines is slowly changing despite the catholic church not fully embracing them.
