I strongly agree with the swing back before punch tip. I have been experimenting with it and I think I have it covered. For anyone trying to get better at stop motion, this is a great tip👍
Thanks. Yes, anticipation really makes punches look a lot better. Don't forget that anticipation applies across a wide range of actions - most actions done by humans or animals anyway. I'm sure you've got that covered too :-) Thanks for watching!
Thank you for these tips. I sometimes rush my BrickFilms, but when I watch this series I start to move my minifigures slower.
You're welcome, I'm glad I could help. I'm guilty of rushing my brickfilms too sometimes, because I get impatient to finish them and see the end result!
For my stop motion animation videos I use stop motion studio because it is very easy to set up and it shows the last few frames transparent which is very helpful when I accidentally knock something over or move my camera and is very helpful for the animations.
Good choice and good point! (I use it too on the rare occasions I animate on my mobile). All the best with your animations!
Nice video I've been experimenting with stop motion for sometime now and I love it a great way to stay motivated and having something to do.
I love 10k ten weeks of madness! I click all the videos as soon as I see them!
Thank you! It's great to get such a positive reaction to the 10k 10 weeks of madness :-D
Gold Puffin hey, can you check your spam comments? I think some of my comments were marked as spam
Wow!Those are really helpful tips and they are also important. I want more videos on what lego stop motion noobs and pros do!
Yeet! Thank for the tips! Do you think you will do more of this series??
You're welcome! Yes, that's the plan! I'm planning to do part 4 in the series, and then I'll also do a "pros" video that will be specific to brickfilms rather than other types of stop motion. And loads of other tutorial videos too.
When I go back to stop motion, I will try to do the realistic movement thing
When I make a character walk I make it balance three times when it’s doing a step, each balance the character is moves a bit forward more.
That sounds like an awesome walk cycle! I only use one balance frame for each foot that goes forwards cos that's what I need for 12 FPS. If I went up to 24 FPS I'd probably be using 3 like you.
I do 30 fps, here's what I do.
Frame 1: bring the foot up
Frame 2: bring it up a little more
Frame 3: put the foot down
Frame 4: shifts to the middle of the two studs
Frame 5: shifts a little more
Frame 6: is on the next stud, has the other foot out
Frame 7: standing
i wanna start a stopmotion youtube channel as a new hobby i used to make very short videos but because of this video in know that it takes a lot more time and that you need a storyboard thank you for the tips
Wow nice vid gold I am streaming building the corner garage
I couldn’t even finish the first 2 numbers of bags in 2 hours because you know there’s like 3/4 bags saying bag 1 and so on...
Thanks for another one of these helpful videos.
Video Idea: list of what sets you should buy for making better backgrounds
This is a great suggestion - I was planning to do a video of the 10 best sets to buy for stop motion, so I will definitely do this now :-) Maybe I will do a separate one for the backgrounds or maybe I will combine.
Thank you I love your videos!!....plz do more tutorials
I love your tutorials! When I see stop motion videos, and they need improvement, I always recommend your channel!
Thank you so much for the nice comment and for recommending my channel :-) I really appreciate all your support :-)
Thanks for the great tips! I’ll definitely use these to help with my brickfilms!
your video is super helpful thanks!!!!
Thanks for the tips
wow so helpful! thanks so much!
oooohhhh you double framed the Veyron. I hate it when I do that and end up resorting to all sorts of cropping an layering to correct my noob mistake
Omigod, I didn't know onion skinning was a thing. I cannot say how much that tip helped me. My camera always shifts, because I always knock my minifigs over! Thanks so much!
You're welcome! There's not a lot of apps that have it though. The only one that I found so far is Clayframes. Good luck and have fun!
I've also learned my lesson over the years. I duct tape down my lego base plates and my camera tripod so nothing moves!
Great video really enjoyed this. some great tips I think thses kinds of videos you do are great
Thank you! I hope all is well on your channel, I'll try to stop by again soon - your videos keep getting better and better!
THESE VIDS HAVE AMAZING TIPS!
Awesome (as always)! I love this series so much :)
Thank you 😁 I'm so glad there's a good reaction to this video 😁 I'm going to do part 4 later in the year
These videos are great. They have really helped me as I am new to stopmotion.
Thanks, I'm so glad I can help you and other people out to get into this amazing kind of animation :-) Keep doing stop motion cos it's the best!
LOVE YOUR CHANNEL
Great video! Thanks very much for that great tutorial. I am a new subscriber.
Thank you so much for doing this video im subscribe
Good puffin I think your amazing you should’ve got more likes this video helped me a whole bunch thank you good puffin
Very nice video👍👍👍👍👍
I feel like story boards are optional, of your confident in your work you won't need anything but a short script
awesome you are hyper pro 🤩
Thanks soooo cool
Amazing! 😉 Hope I can be like this someday!
Yeah I'm aiming to reach that standard too of BrotherhoodWorkshop and Keshen8 and those kinda guys :-)
I knew all of these before the video was uploaded but you explained more and that’s great I guess 😂
What is it with you and things getting run over by trucks, they look so funny
@@GoldPuffin it was pretty funny when that poor guy kept on getting run over in every angle
NICE
Wow
Ur really good at drawing so liked
Also I clicked as soon as I saw
Oh I didn't think I was good at drawing, I just did it as quick as I could 😅 thanks for the nice compliment and for the like 😁
Gold puffin can you give me some tips. I use a phone I have a shutter should I do my stop motions in my own sets or ones I bought and what lighting to use pls
Hi, if you use the sets you bought it saves a lot of time. What I do is if I have a set that I bought that fits with the scene I just use that, but then if I do have what I need I build my own. Lighting - you need a lamp to place on your desk. Two lamps is better - one to light the set and one to make sure your characters are well lit. Actually the more lamps the better because you have much more flexibility on what to do.
U should keep doing these
Thanks :-) I do already have a part 4 planned, plus a LOT of other tutorial videos too :-)
More excellent tips. The more you can do 'in camera' the more natural it will look and the less effort is needed in the edit. Something I need to get more balanced.
Thank you :-) So true, it's tempted to think "I'll fix it in post production" and sometimes that is the solution but often it's better to go back and figure out how to make it look right in the original photos :-) I need to get more balanced on this too!
Gold puffin can you make a stop motion where it starts with normal bored city then a car speeds by and then a police car follows and he see’s a cop barricade then he jumps over the police barricade but the car crashes into a building and then the man gets arrested?
That you for the suggestion - I will see if I can do this - it seems like a nice simple story that would be quite easy to animate!
Can you do a part 4
How do you make arrows in a shield? Do you erase the bow masking is what you called it right?
You can try doing it using masking erasing the bow. Another method is to actually cut the arrows out of the bow, if you have enough spare bow-and-arrow pieces. I don't usually advise anyone to cut up their Lego pieces, but if it helps to make a better brickfilm then it can be worth it.
Gold puffin do you too use dragonframe for your stop motion
Hey, I was wondering how best to stop flickering in my stop motions. I have a literal industrial light but it still doesn’t pan out like I want. Maybe it’s because of other natural light or my own shadows?
Yes, it could be your own shadows, it could be reflection from your clothes, it could be natural light, it could be your camera settings (if you have tjhem on automatic that can cause flicker), or it could even be your lights themselves. I'm going to do a tutorial on this, but it won't be for a few weeks at least.
can you please tell me the name of the music i like it very much
Can u do a video saying which app/website 2 use??? That would be helpful!!!😎🌮
Hi, yes, I have been meaning to do this for ages! I'm definitely going to do this and I'll try to get round to it sooner!
I know I’m late with this question, but when animating running, I simply increase the amount of times a character balances in a step, right? Or is that just for smoother walking?
I haven’t animated runs before, but I believe you just decrease the amount of frames and move it forwards more
Sorry I'm really late with the reply because I didn't see your comment but then Zaikage replied and I got a notification. For running you need a different cycle otherwise it's going to look like a weird fast walk. I've done a run cycle video that you can find on my channel which might help
Great video! Is the stop motion contest ending on the 24th?
@@GoldPuffin Yikes, I haven't started filming yet so I'll have to push myself because I've been procrastinating again. 🙄
Coool. Hey, do you know where I can find a good walking sound effect? I’ve been searching youtube and can’t find a good one 😔
where can I find the webside of the storyboard?
Love you bro it help❤❤❤
What app do you use?
I like this video because it helps me in my videos and I love 10 things stop motion nobs do so funny 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣😃😄
How many frames per a sec do you use?
What fps was that flip ?
7:40 is that from the fancy pants punch tutorial
Yes, I learned it from the Fancy Pants punch tutorial and used it in Hey That's My Sandwich which is one of my first brickfilms.
My main phone has stopped working so I can’t upload!
I hope you get it fixed real soon. It's good that at least you have your YT account on your other phone.
Hey I just started today!
Umm just asking what app do you use for your stopmotion and editing app
I don't use an app on a phone / tablet - I use Adobe Premiere Pro CS3. But I recommend Stop Motion Studio if you need an app. If that's not working for you then try Clayframes, PicPac or the Stikbot app.
theres a Difference between The canon Rebel EOS T5 1200D, and the Canon EOS 1200D ? the reason I ask both have different LOGO"s in the front top Left of the cameras. I tried looking for the Canon EOS 1200D, but will just Show the Canon Rebel EOS T5, what are the differences ???
They are the same camera - there's just different names for it in different parts of the world. This article explains that: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canon_EOS_1200D
Hi just wondering what stop motion app you use
I don't use an app because I use Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 on my laptop. But if you want an app I recommend stop motion studio. If you don't like stop motion studio then try Clayframes or PicPac
does anyone know how to make your stop motion have a dark effect but you can still see the minifig and set?
my recommendation for this is to use lights that are part of your set rather than overhead and/or to use lighting from lower down / to the side. It does depend on what your scene is, if it's a street scene then place the lighting inside buildings for example.
What software are you using to make the storyboard?
I Googled "storyboard template" and downloaded an image file that had the squares in it. Then I just used Microsoft Paint to draw on it. When I do this for real I use a pen and paper because it's quicker and easier. I did it in MS Paint for this video because it was easier than drawing it on paper and then taking photos of the paper.
@@GoldPuffin Thanks for replying. I'll try storyboarding with one of the templates.
If Gold Puffin pins this, I will like every comment
