I have dropped the Suzuki x90 name so many times in comments of UA-cam channels because nobody does them, nobody rebuilds them nobody knows about him and they're absolutely amazing! Great video thank you for posting
A Suzuki X-90 has been one of my dream cars since i saw one on sale online a couple years ago. As soon as i saw it, i fell in love with it. I would’ve bought it if i had the money and i didn’t need a daily driver.
I had an XR4Ti, it had the mods that made it vastly better than stock. A Rapido front mount intercooler( no intercooler stock ) and a T5 transmission. I had mine in 2005 and my buddy had an STI the first year they brought them to North America, he was constantly surprised how well it kept up in spirited driving. I wish I had the money for an Esslinger head back then! Another great video, thanks for continuing to dig into the endless mine of '80's automotive history!
this video put a giant smile on my face, for i am an owner of two these cars a 1996 suzuki X-90 and a 1998 isuzu VehiCROSS Iron-man, and i could never give them up.
Ethan, your segments bring back a lot of memories. I was a teen in the 80s and remember all of these cars when they were new and on the road. I remember sitting in a new Subaru SVX in the showroom with my dad as well as the Mercur. I also remember both the LN7 and EXP. My parents had the station wagon equivalent at the time, an 81 Lynx wagon. Used to sneak it out of the garage and joyride in it before I first got my license. Suzuki also had some unique vehicles as did Renault. You rarely see them on the road anymore. Thanks for rekindling those memories!!!
I loved the looks of the Merkur XR4Ti. My girlfriend at the time had one of those. Hers was a red 1986 with automatic, leather and moonroof. The car was pretty quick, but it started having issues around 80K miles. The only thing that didn't give her issues was the automatic transmission. Turbo failure and electrical gremlins started occuring around 80K miles. Yeah. She loved it when it ran well, but even she said that she'd never recommend one.
I love the VehiCross since the beginning. And by the time I was able to buy, they’ve always been too expensive. I’ve always seen them with a snake-like styling with those headlights and the ‘fangs’ in the grill, think Dodge Copperhead concept’s snake design allusions. The interior was always a bummer. The BEST iteration of this car can be seen in the Movie Mission to Mars at the beginning in a concept convertible form. The thing is still gorgeous after all these years.
Man you have the best car channel on UA-cam the nostalgia and 80s vibe in these videos is awesome! Always amazing content! The fact that you remember the Suzuki X90 is great lol I just saw one the other day as a matter of fact
I had a 1985 XR4TI back in the early 90's and loved the thing. It was super fun and people didn't know what to think about it. I would recommend getting one and wish I never sold mine.
Love this series of retro as I grew up learning about the automobile industry. How about the following? Issue Axioms Issue Amigo Issue Impulse Sterling Subaru XT and Justy Toyota FX16 Acura Vigor Infiniti M30, J30 Mazda MX3 1.8 V6, 326 GTX Nissan NX2000 Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 Diahatsu Rocky
The cordia was used as a cop car in Australia. Turbo. It was banned not even a year in because they where so crazy to drive. I bought one 10 years ago. And they where right. Torque steer all over the road. I could get it up to 160ks in the distance of 5 houses. One of the funnest cars and biggest death traps I’ve ever owned
The XR4 sold very well in Argentina but it had the ancient 2.3 N/A Lima engine that was used in the Taunus and Pinto, very heavy and a gas guzzler, it competed against the Renault Fuego that started production two years earlier to replace the Ika-Renault Torino
I’ve got an XR4TI, in fact, you parked Liam Nissan next to it at Radwood LA. To find more for sale you gotta use OfferUp, most have gone there from Craigslist since it’s free.
Yes, I remember your car! So nice!!! Yeah I forgot to check OfferUp for this video. And we just need Facebook to allow a nationwide Marketplace search!
Saw a Cordia once, as a supermarket bag boy, a"Yuppie" couple owned it. They seemed so self consciously trying, and also nice people. My friend's mom drove an Isuzu Impulse. She didn't like it that much. Dad had a '77 FJ-40 that my friend inherited. Rad to the Max.
I just drove by an X90 in tahoe today! I was so confused because it looked like a Civic, but stretched into a Geo Tracker. Glad you posted this today and taught me what it was!
Although not covered in this video, I liked the look of the Subaru XT with it's flush door handle covers and pods on either side of the steering wheel like KITT. I also love the look of the Eagle Talon TSI AWD with Turbo (the flip up headlight design).
I saw a Merkur xr4ti the other day! It was really cool. But it looked like it wasn’t running and it was parked on a street in a not so great neighborhood.
A former neighbor had an X-90 in two-tone lime green with a giant wind-up-style key on the trunk lid that turned while driving. It was one of the few vehicles to get out of the neighborhood during one of the bigger blizzards--it seemed to ride up on top of the snow!
Digging the channel! I love these obscure cars too, I’m so glad our generation is getting out and doing car shows and that we are keeping some of these cars on the road
I work at a grocery store and I've seen a Vehicross in the parking lot. But on this one the owner put on some massive 24 inch off-road wheels on it the kind you mostly see on a pickup truck like the f-250 or the Silverado.
I had a Cordia in the late 90s I drove for about 5 years. I loved that car and drove it all over the great plains. I'd but one again if I even found it
Having owned an X-90 for 3 years I can tell you, that car was a hoot to drive, loved snow, and got pretty good mileage for what it was. I Having seen your video, I wish I kept it now.
There is currently one in peak condition with just 50k miles for around $5.7k and I really would love to buy it. I'm also thinking about a miata or this cool peka condition 95 accord but I don't know. Do you think it's worth it?
The Suzuki X90 is something I'd want. I've been a fan of the Metro since I was a kid, and I've always wanted a Tracker. I first saw an X90 for sale a couple years ago on Craigslist.
Speaking of Merkurs, I'd love for you to feature the Scorpio. We had one when I just got my license (early 2000s). It drove great, but definitely had some mechanical/electrical issues and was hard to source parts for sometimes. I picked up a flywheel when I was on student exchange in Germany because we couldn't order one where I lived. That was the second flywheel it went through too.
Yeah I totally remember the Scorpio, but only ever seen one in person over 20 years ago and have seen one for sale when autotempest was new somewhere not close to me. I think in europe they even had a 24v Cosworth V6 offered in it.
In the UK the xr4ti was called xr4i. Now look them up in the UK and see how much they sell for, around 20 to 30000 lol www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1987-FORD-SIERRA-COSWORTH-RS500-IN-MOONSTONE-BLUE/164258801143?hash=item263e9665f7:g:MZMAAOSwRute62-s
Not gonna lie, the concept of a “Kei/micro-sized SUV” sounds super appealing to me as someone who currently doesn’t own a license; The perfect blend of ruggedness, practicality, and safety with fun factor and great fuel economy. (Though, admittedly, I WOULD personally swap out the four-cylinder for an upgraded 40+ HP lawn mower engine, just to keep things easier for me to work on.)
had the opportunity to pick up a X-90 last year for 2k but had to pass due it having more rust than i was comfortable with. If i find another im definatley gonna pick it up.
Fantastic video. That dash on the Mitsubishi was really good looking with no clutter. I saw a Suzuki and a Verhicross locally sell in a few days .I drove a girlfriend's Merkur in high school and it was a real blast. Love to see a Mitsu Starion or the Chrysler version. I remember when it came out back in the 80s an area mall had two indoors, on display. Felt like a real sports car inside. Would like to see more
Super into your channel man, thanks for shedding light on these cool cars! I'm always so afraid of losing car history. My 1986 Accord got me really into 80s cars
Man I was stoked to see the Mercury's XR4ti on your list. That was one of my favorite cars as a kid. It & the Scorpio. They were great looking cars! I also really liked the Cordia. Man I love the cars you hash up! A lot of them I'd truly forgotten about. I never knew that Mercury had a version of the EXP. Keep dropping this kinda knowledge bro!
I had a Cordia Turbo, the manual rear seat b-pillar vents and the squishy foam rear spoiler. The mechanic that performed my service replace the fuel injection lines with low pressure fuel line and on my way to work blazed up destroying the wiring harness which I didn’t know how to make back then. RIP Charnay
Someday I will totally park a Geo Tracker and a Suzuki X90 side by side in my front yard I also know somebody with several XR4Tis and just recently rescued one from sitting in a field
Got me with that thumbnail. Always rubberneck when I see some of those mini SUV’s from the 80s. NWA used to trick those out with gold spokes. That ford mentioned in the video resembles the Ford Mustang SVO with the 2.3l turbo.
I remember how 10 years ago the merkur was still popular on Craigslist with prices around $2k, another car that disappeared is the Alliance (Renault) convertible.
I bought an Alliance convertible in 1989. It was a 1985 model. I always thought it was the poor mans BMW convertible. I must admit I had fewer problems with it than BMW owners did with theirs.
In Sweden people use the Suzuki x-90 to their teenager. We have something that we call A-traktor, it is a car that only can drive up to 30km/h and teenagers can get their driver license to these cars by the age of 15. The Suzuki x-90 is perfect to rebuild, it has only to seats and if you lock it at the second gear it only drives up to 30km/h.
The X-90 lives on in sweden as an A tractor, basically a vehicle that is limited to 30 kmh, and can be driven by 15 year olds with an AM license. I have also heard of people converting them to microcars (techinaly) so that they can be registered as 4 wheel mopeds, and thus have a legal top speed of 45 kmh. pretty cool. I think the reason why they are fairly common in theese rebuilt iterations is that they already have 1 seating row, as required (you can however seat as many people as you want, if done reasonably safely) and they look sporty and they got great ground clereance. great if you are out and about with friends swimming and you come across a parking dilema, and have to park in a field or something
Living near Salem, OR at the time, the Merkur was sold at a Lincoln/Mercury dealer. I went to look at it and the sales people had no idea what it really was. At least at that dealership the sales people had no desire to get to know it, let alone sell it......
The Cordia front end reminds me of the Mercury Capri which is another one of those forgotten cars. I would like an X-90 to drive to work on those snowy, icy days. I think I would put a lift on it and 33 inch tires.
I love the same cars you do, right now I’m in the noob leagues and just have the Scotty classic 94 celica 5 speed, 95 Sentra coupe 5 spd, 97 eclipse gst 5spd and just looking for rare and fun cars
i owned a 86 XR4Ti , it was a fun car, i had a aftermarket turbo and exhaust so it made good power, unfortunately it was a electrical nightmare nightmare . interestingly, uk buyers have been buying XR4Tis because they are cheap in the states and Ford Sierra prices are sky high
My wife wanted me to look into getting a Vehicross. I did. In Colorado, I found three. We have three Isuzus, a Rodeo, an Amigo, and a pickup. All great vehicles. I wish Isuzu would have remained a western US marque. Simply couldn't handle the salt and bad roads out East
Two years ago when I was taking auto tech in school some of the other kids were working on an xr4ti. I didn’t know what it was and that it was kinda rare!
The Vehicross, "no other vehicle like it", almost all vehicles look like it now, or it's brother, the Axiom. They only lack a spine. I've owned everything from a I-Mark turbo hatch, to a Rodeo, to now owning 4 90's pickups. Isuzu has the unfortunate ability to make cars before the trend they fit into exists. Just like the Impulse, they build them at least 5-10 years before they fit in.
I had a Suzuki X-90 when I was 19 it was a 1996 I bought it from the Suzuki dealership here in Calgary Canada mine was silver with a 5 speed manual transmission with the 4X4 I really miss this Suzuki can't believe I traded it for a 1992 dodge dokata. But I also had a 1988 Suzuki samurai and three 3 Geo metros. I loved my Suzuki's
Cordias are still around even in the states. I own 2. They mostly go for 2000-6000 dollars depending on the condition and are more commonly sold on Facebook through Cordia groups. Some people have posted them for 20k but ive never seen one sell for that much.
I have dropped the Suzuki x90 name so many times in comments of UA-cam channels because nobody does them, nobody rebuilds them nobody knows about him and they're absolutely amazing! Great video thank you for posting
Love mine! Wrecked it a few years back planning on building a tube frontend for it and lifting it, still runs and drives! Traded a 1200 bike for it
I want to park one in the middle of my front yard next to a Geo Tracker
Dump a busa engine in it
I love my little x90 it goes anywhere
@Karmy. Sounds like my yard.
Always thought the Vehi-cross was frickin cool👍
I saw one few days ago. Cool af even now
Even Doug demuro reviewed a vehicross.

I own an svx!

Your naration is good, clear.
And you dont seem annoying.
Keep up the good work

I always dug those, too.
I agree.stullwamt aone
YOOOO!!! I know I gave you grief about not mentioning it in the last episode, but MY MAN the X-90 made the freakin' thumbnail!?! You're a legend!
Hahaha yeah! I love these things.
@@HelloRoad Hopefully the opportunity to snag one arises one day, that driveway isn't quite full just yet 👍
Fun channel and content.
Takes me back to the early 90s when I had an 86 Dodge Colt Turbo. Fun times!
Man you have the best car channel on UA-cam the nostalgia and 80s vibe in these videos is awesome! Always amazing content! The fact that you remember the Suzuki X90 is great lol I just saw one the other day as a matter of fact
Some guy who works near me has a x90 and a vehicross, also I see a cordia turbo fairly often driven by an old lady
yet another unique segment. Please continue! LOVED IT
I will! Another one of these videos coming soon. :)
I had a 1985 XR4TI back in the early 90's and loved the thing. It was super fun and people didn't know what to think about it. I would recommend getting one and wish I never sold mine.

My friend had a feugo we drove all over in. Most comfortable seats ever. Like a sofa. Good memories.
Love this series of retro as I grew up learning about the automobile industry. How about the following?
Issue Axioms
Issue Amigo
Issue Impulse
Sterling
Subaru XT and Justy
Toyota FX16
Acura Vigor
Infiniti M30, J30
Mazda MX3 1.8 V6, 326 GTX
Nissan NX2000
Mitsubishi Galant VR-4
Diahatsu Rocky
Lord Master I have an Isuzu Rodeo. Might try to pick up this Amigo at auction
Yes all of these!!
Nothing beats an 80's montage. Loved this.
Thank you!!
I really enjoyed this video, especially the XR4Ti segment. Thanks!

I had a blue Mitsubishi Cordia L. When I showed it to my grandma she said, in all sincerity, "Oh, you bought a Cordial."
I loved my Cordia. Had it when I was 20. Drove it for miles and miles nearly trouble free
Really wanted an XR4TI back in the day Still looks HOT.
I'd go for the V ehi cross lol. Definitely a head turner and you can find parts for it fairly easily.
Excellent video and channel. I'd love to see some info on the Baretta GTZ.
I just drove by an X90 in tahoe today! I was so confused because it looked like a Civic, but stretched into a Geo Tracker. Glad you posted this today and taught me what it was!
I had a neighbor who was a rally car racer and his was the XR4Ti. It wasn't stock at all and was so cool!
My dad had several XR4TI's growing up. I actually learned to drive a stick in one. His last one was pushing 20lbs of boost and was pretty quick.
I bought an 86 Celica GT-S a few years ago. Very few are still available.
My wife is on her second X-90. We live in a small town in British Columbia, Canada and there 4 other X-90’s still on the roads today.
Although not covered in this video, I liked the look of the Subaru XT with it's flush door handle covers and pods on either side of the steering wheel like KITT.
I also love the look of the Eagle Talon TSI AWD with Turbo (the flip up headlight design).
Ethan....Check out early 1970s Mercury Capri models made in Germany with the 2.6 V-6.I owned one for awhile with a 4 spd stick.
Yes, that was my first car, "76 Capri II Ghia, fun car.
I saw a Merkur xr4ti the other day! It was really cool. But it looked like it wasn’t running and it was parked on a street in a not so great neighborhood.
Just sub'd good work my man! Love 80's!
Ethan, my man. I cant find a good video anyhwere about the Dodge Lancer from the 80's. Theres a Shelby version. Very cool!
A former neighbor had an X-90 in two-tone lime green with a giant wind-up-style key on the trunk lid that turned while driving. It was one of the few vehicles to get out of the neighborhood during one of the bigger blizzards--it seemed to ride up on top of the snow!
Keep up with the great work! I wish there are more channels that focus on the forgotten cars of the 80s and 90s
One of the most fun cars I ever drove was a black Isuzu I-Mark Turbo with the handling by lotus. It was my sisters car and I loved driving that thing.
When i saw your 1st list like this, i immediately subbed 👍

I have a few in my fleet you'd like. Two accords, an Integra GS hatch, a Beretta GT, a Z24 convertible, 86 and 7 626s to name a few
@@williamsinger4124 Hell yeah! Any of those 626's 5 speed and ZE?
I just saw a VehiCross the other day! Didn’t realize they’re so rare.
Tons of Cordias in Puerto Rico. Mitsubishi and Suzuki sold a ton of cars back home.
i owned a 86 XR4Ti , it was a fun car, i had a aftermarket turbo and exhaust so it made good power, unfortunately it was a electrical nightmare nightmare .
interestingly, uk buyers have been buying XR4Tis because they are cheap in the states and Ford Sierra prices are sky high
take your pick. subaru brat, bmw 635csi prelude si, bronco II, cyclone/typhoon, dodge dakota convertible, integra gsr, isuzu impulse rs, dodge raider.
The Vehi-Cross is pretty rare. I would love to own an Isuzu Amigo or two-door Rodeo someday.
Nearly killed in a Amigo, changed the course of my life.
Still love driving my 4-Door Rodeo, it's been fantastic here in the midwest, and easier to work on (imo) than my '05 Altima.
Loving the channel!
Thanks!!! :) :) :)
I just got a 1996 suzuki automatic 4x4 it's an absolute blast!
Two years ago when I was taking auto tech in school some of the other kids were working on an xr4ti. I didn’t know what it was and that it was kinda rare!
7:35 I thought that X-90 was on fire at first. 🔥 🔥 🔥
A guy down my street has a silver Vechicross he bought new. I still give it a second look when I drive past it.
I had a Subaru XT GL I loved that car. It was like driving in an airplane cockpit.
Heaps of Cordias and Starions around in Australia back in the day, pretty rare and expensive nowadays.
Not really a forgotten vehicle but I'd love to see a video on the Datsun 280zx. I own a 1980 and the ads don't lie it truly is awesome.
Cordia and Tredia were super sweet! Those Vehicrosses were insanely cool... just expensive!
I was at the local LKQ junkyard in Austin,Tx and they had a complete Suzuki X90 its been a few weeks but im sure its still there
I had a Suzuki X-90 when I was 19 it was a 1996 I bought it from the Suzuki dealership here in Calgary Canada mine was silver with a 5 speed manual transmission with the 4X4 I really miss this Suzuki can't believe I traded it for a 1992 dodge dokata. But I also had a 1988 Suzuki samurai and three 3 Geo metros. I loved my Suzuki's
Saw a 1990's Mazda MPV 4WD in my neighboorhod in Pittsburgh yesterday! Wish it was for sale.
Not too long ago, I got lucky and picked up a '91 Nissan NX2000. I love driving that car!
Awesome! I love those.
Cordias are still around even in the states. I own 2. They mostly go for 2000-6000 dollars depending on the condition and are more commonly sold on Facebook through Cordia groups. Some people have posted them for 20k but ive never seen one sell for that much.
Oh nice!! Yeah I just saw a black one for sale on Facebook Marketplace in Florida! I just missed out on it.
Has any Mitsubishi ever sold for $20,000?
@@mexicanspec I bet rx7's can go for that much in certain conditions..
