"...at the beginning of a war..." You mean a special military operation
Hahahaha
A “peace keeping operation” you mean?
A "peace keeping operation to end a fascist genocidal nazi puppet regime of drug addicts" you mean for sure.
The war for "de-militarization and de-nazification"you mean.
Well, the sad part is that Ukraine has been through several "russificacion" processes (genocides) since the zarist era. And by the tone of Putin's speech, this time will not be different .
Finally I can learn how to get my volunteers out of the Barcelona pocket!
*You Cant*
The pain is real
It's spain without the s
Delete them right before you get encircled
@@undauntedteach8966 very fitting for what hes talking about
Maybe some mods fix it, because I definitely saw a "Recall Volunteers" button in diplomatic options at least once.
Yeah it’s used in a few mods
Kaiserreich has one
Road to 56 has this button
It’s a mod
It's there in Kaiserreich
Their manpower & equipment will indeed return.
...Unless they're encircled, in which case you'll only get 20% of it.
If your Germany, start the war, even if encircled, they magic carpet back!
Always keep a path open to a port, if things go south, make a beeline for it and get ready to delete, or if Spanish civil war, piss off to the Balearic islands, assuming nat Spain owns them.
I can't believe this isn't a feature in the base game yet
it is meant to simulate the fact that volunteers are, well, volunteers
Alright so if you delete them while they are cut off will the equipment and manpower still make it back?
You get the regular encirclement penalty and will lose 80%
@@Pydgin gotcha I wasn't sure if this was an area they missed. Paradox coding is always fun
change it for 2 width cavalry first. that way you get back almost everything
@@grigorijklymenko3198 won't NSB have fixed that already with the logistics restructure?
EDIT: Did some testing, and I found that encircled divisions (i.e. no direct supply from capital) *cannot* change their templates.
You only get 20% of the equipment
There is in some mods. I was suprise to see it in kaiserreich the button is very helpfull cause i would've have lost 2 tank division and it would've leave me with only one 40 width heavy tank division
There is a mod called ''Recall volunteers'' Which does exavtly as the name implies
It sends out unwilling participants?
No need to try and recall your divisions if you don't have any
I just learned this months ago even though I've been playing HOI4 for a long time. My troops nearly starved to death trying to help out in the Korean War (IC mod) cuz they failed to resupply for some reason despite having enough equipment in the stockpile and in production.
You still need a valid supply route from your capital. If the supplies cant physically reach your units than it doesnt matter how much spare equipment you have
The nation your volunteers go to use the supply network of said nation. You need to send them trucks if you want to motorize the logistics of your volunteers.
In Kaiserreich it's possible to call them back though
The volunteer mechanic is so broken. I can end the Sino-Japanese war with five volunteer Panzer divisions in a few months.
Volunteers should be a special division template of mainly infantry with some armor support.
They should arrive at the target country with little training, and they're supposed to disband once recalled. They're volunteers, they are officially fighting for a foreign cause; they go their separate ways after the tour is over.
This is kinda how it worked IRL though. Army units would take leave and go fight in the Spanish Civil War. The government approved it to study the conflict and develop doctrine.
Guys don't volunteer and just take the Stukas they had parked in their garage.
To fix what you're talking about(but remain historical) they'd prob have to ban anything except infantry/Artillery batallions from being eligible to be sent.
@@0sm1um76 well, in that case, I would suggest a more rigid template designer. Locking division upgrades into a 'path' or tiers, as in, 1. Infantry, 2. Motorized, 3. Mechanized, 4. Armoured.
Then make it so that Volunteer divisions:
a) can only be tier.1
b) can't upgrade while in foreign countries.
Hoi4 isn't supposed to be extremely realistic. That's why some MP games limit what kind of volunteers you can send, and how many.
@@mauriciomorais7818 @Mauricio Morais I don't think a system like that is strictly neccisary. I think the same could be accomplished by making it so any divisions with tanks, motorized, or mech can't be sent. (like how if a single non paratrooper batallions exists in a division it can't paradrop)
Tbh even if you limited that, I still don't think it would fix your issue with the sino Japanese war. Currently CAS+20 or 27 width infantry just steamroll both Chinese AND Japanese divisions anyway. I think the issue there is that both countries use weird ineffective divisions that get steamrolled by anything resembling meta.
they could make them drain out from manpower like garrison units with a standard template
Support companies next?
Kaiserredux has it because I my last KX game I did Recall Volunteers. You can cheese it a bit because you can recall encircled volunteers.
I’ve never wanted to, so I’ve never known you couldn’t recall them. But the lack of option still seems totally bizarre.
Well theres a great mod, at the steam workshop which you could use to recall them
I think sometimes air volunteers don't return when you enter to a war but it happens very randomly
They do but it's immediate and they go to I believe you nearest airbase. It happening instantly can make them easy to miss or glance over as you move your air forces around at the start of the war and they will get moved with them
@@t2force212 what i was saying is that they don't return, but kept flying in the war you sent them. I usually run into that situation when i send air volunteers as italy to spain, to then go to war with britain so, i could conquer things for the roman empire. it was very weird because if the planes were in the south of spain the british would put planes in gibraltar.
There's a mod that adds a "recall" volunteers button, which i used all the time when i still played
that was fast and sipmle did not expect that lol
With the mod 😘
Oh is there a mod to recall volunteers?
@@Pydgin There is, and its highly abusable
@@Pydgin it's called kaiserreich
@@kxmapper :O I didn't know you could do that in KR
i learned that the hard way
My theory is that if you could return unit people would grind experience, pull out their troops and grind again. Making them delete the group eliminates the experienced troops. I’m not sure though that this would not be realistic. Troop rotation is a normal thing in war, it’s a way for troops to gain experience while in combat while spreading that experience among the ranks.
I’ve played around with lifting the volunteer limit to 16. It really makes a difference in war and in experiences in single player. Might be too crazy in multiplayer.
Can you make a video about Expeditionary Forces? In a previous video you said that it is another thing than volunteers.
yes! Planning on it!
JUST GET A MOD TO RECALL IT FOR YOU
Nice
So nice
@@Pydgin xd
they will also be recalled if you enter a war
Just discovered your channel and it is great! You definitely earned my sub. Can you do a tutorial on how to optimally grind generals in an upcoming video? Also, have you ever consodered putting making these videos into youtube shorts?
Thanks for the sub! A general guide is on the list. These videos don't do that well as shorts for some reason.
you can also try to have the country capitulate before your troops are encircled and killed
*taps head*
Can you make a video about "Coordianted strike" and what exactly does?
I use it yesterday but i don´t saw anything special.
Yeah, it's not much to write home about. You get like 5% bonus in combat for a couple weeks. I don't know anyone who uses it. I'll cover it in the spy missions video in a couple months.
I play almost exclusively Kaiserreich (the reason I actually got HOI4) so I am surprised this is not a thing.
There's also a mod that allows you to do it
Play kaiserriech
Hey thanks for the info, can you make tutorial about naval battle because with the newest naval dlc, naval battle is pretty confusing
newest naval dlc was years ago
You can in the Kaiserreich mod ;)
use general last stand and milk the encircled experience
it's so dumb that you can't recall volunteers
23 seconds gang lets goooo
zooom! I'm just imagining you mashing f5 on the channel page.
@@Pydgin It was coincidental!! 😂
is there any mod
Alternate answer: download the recall volunteers mod from the steam workshop
You mean, "Travel Group"?
If you come to last stand situation, put your troops OUTSIDE the capital. I lost six veteran units in the Spanish Civil War because Republican Spain did not want to surrender despite them only existing in one tile, and also entirely relying on Russians to defend the capital because all the Spaniard's were dead. I imagined my poor commanding officers were banging on the president's door begging for him to surrender so they can go home, and the guy was like, "Nah just keep them out of the city, don't worry I'm working on a master plan that will fix everything."
There is a mod for it, like always
Nice to know. Even with 1500 hours in the game, I don't have much knowledge about this, because I don't send them there.
It's very limiting, you can't send big force (which I understand), and I also don't intervene. I know… Imagine plaing Hitlers Deutschland and not intervene.
Yeah. In something like the Spanish civil war it's way much better to send an air force with very small air wings to farm wild aces. The increased war support will help in getting war economy earlier.
Instead of micro managing just 2 troops in a battlefield of dozens of soviet units.
@@esochibuike8477 Even though I uderstand the benefits, I am always too lazy to send there anything. After all, it's Spain… Who cares…
@@irwainnornossa4605 The experience is nice
Or you can use a mod
