Sounds like this was a train wreck from start to finish. DM being a felon seems to have just been a side issue that came from him being a lousy person overall.
I started laughing when they explained the premise, and then 3 minutes later I realized I had missed a lot of detail. I'll watch the thing in whole once I stop laughing
Normally I'd agree, but... Embezzling from a non-profit that helps the homeless is a huge red flag even if they served their time. And considering their behaviour afterward... It doesn't sound like they have been rehabilitated from sociopathy. They need medication and counseling, not to run a D&D game.
He did something that wrong once, what's stopping him from doing it again? It's like cheaters, once a cheater always a cheater. Or the saying about dogs, that once they bite and taste human blood they crave it. Try your logic with any other crime: "He murdered once, so what?" "He dealt once and is responsible for supplying kids who died, so what?" "He was into pedo stuff once, so what?" "He ruffied a girl at the bar once, so what?" See the issue yet? Forgiveness is for the individual, but forgetting is asking to be victimized again.
Folks, this is how badly the D&D community needs more DMs. Please consider running games for others and make sure to run Session 0s so everyone knows what everyone else is comfortable with and what should be avoided or left out of the game entirely!
The fact he claimed he was "Working with GW for a Wild West RPG", should have been a red flag. They ain't gonna make another IP with some rando, let alone in "The Wild West".
We had a similar story years ago... One of our players, that was a very loud and funny guy, tryed his hand at DMing and even convinced one of our rare female friends to experiment DnD for the first time. One of the first things the loud guy described, when we entered a cave, was a pair of kobolds doing their... reproductive thing... The girl never returned and never played DnD again... Years later, the loud guy was convicted for robbing a drugstore, hitting an elderly costumer with the handle of his gun and shooting a police officer (that luckly didnt die) while trying to escape. I got stunned when I saw his mug at the news the day he was aprehended.
Minors are under 18. New player *is* 18. Legal, if not exactly the age that was originally wanted for the group. That said, I'm guessing there was no Session 0 here.
Kind of feel like focusing on him being a felon is a little much, better to say “DM Embezzled Money” or something in my opinion. Great video otherwise!
I am of the opinion that what you have done depends on whether I should trust you. Embezzling from the poor is someone on my shit list. The fact he was also a major creep is also someone on my shitlist.
Embezzlement just means you don't let them handle money. They can still do other things to contribute to society. Being a lustful creep is more problematic. Not only do you have to restrict what they do more to keep those situations from coming up, but also who they interact with. But weather data collector on remote islands is still a job I believe.
i miss the days when these videos where about Fun or cool interactions... now they are always about negative things like how a DM was trash or how a player made things really awkward or a DMs wife gets her way in games. so since all the fun and cool stuff that makes DnD FUN is gone i am sorry i am going to need to unsubscribe as i am all for the good vibes.
there's a couple, tho pretty old at this point. look up the cookie making granny and the innocent ogre (presumably it's just the youtube game at work. Negative stories get more engagement)
There's nothing this DM did wrong that didn't grind my gears. But seriously? Having to chose to use your action Or move? That's ridiculous! The worst I would do is give them a -1 to their next action roll this turn for traversing an obstacle or spending 1/2 their total movement over rough terrain, and even that is heavy handed!
He sounds like a bad DM, and a creep, but if he's repaid his debt to society I do not see how that should be held against him. He's under no obligation to open up about that and probably wants to put that part of his life behind him.
@@michaeljebbett160 Isn't that a dangerous precedent to believe that every sin is incapable of being forgiven and repaid? If a child takes a second cookie from the cookie jar, should he not be forgiven after his punishment? Just because you make a mistake at one time doesn't mean you can't learn from it and better yourself.
3:10 18 isn't a minor. That said the situation is definitely creepy

I love the trigger discipline in the art.
The feon bit is not a problem. His sketchy dm decisions and methods would have had me out session one.
I also knew a Dm that is in Prison now. He was working at hospital and committed identity theft with the patient information that he had.
He was felon. Okay... so he's out now. He's paid his price to society. If he's not doing anything wrong, then... So what?
I feel the same.

His actions speak for themselves.

I couldn't care less about being a "felon".
But his method of being à DM is à whole different story.

Okay the DMs criminal past aside. The way he was acting both in and out of game was highly inapproprite.
The fact he claimed he was "Working with GW for a Wild West RPG", should have been a red flag.
They ain't gonna make another IP with some rando, let alone in "The Wild West".
Yeah, they’ve not touched the Wild West in years, they did put out a Wild West version of the OG Warhammer rules, but that’s all no longer there
How is 18 year old a minor? If the rule states 21+ that it should be 21+. But that doesn't make 18 a minor
I played in jail for 7 months but I accidentally cashed bad checks.

Ah yes, Games Workshop making a wild west themed DnD game setting instead of making a Warhammer Fantasy or AoS setting.
Yeah.. it’s not like the Warhammer Wild West rulebook from back in the 80s
2:37 oh hell no I thought we covered this stuff last video, and now it got taken to it's blunt extreme?! *Yirbel Lives*
The more I heard the worse it got.

What state is 18 a minor age?
So the female barbarian was 18? Why did you say she was a minor? It's fine if you say she's under 21 but 18 is adult age not a minor.
Justin Bieber. The BBEG was Justin Bieber.
Wheyyyy a nee vid :)

Could be seen as offensive lol. Gtfoh
Ah; a con- man.
"A very racial setting" so how D&D used to be?
Otherwise, another terrible DM.

I've never even heard of a system where you choose to act or move, save for a status condition.
Y’all actually joined a racist group… OKAY… lol.

When you embezzle and take advantage of the needy, your debt to society is never truly paid.
