We didn't have tube turners when I learned to sew in the 50s. I did have a variety of safety pin sizes. That was how I was taught to turn a tube. As soon as I saw you do that, I thought, someone taught that girl how to sew the old way. Thanks for the memory Patti. I pretty much watch all your gnome videos. I love them. Thank you.
@@PattiJGood My mother had my sister in December 57. That made her very busy as she then had five children to care for. In the summer of 58 she gave me a pattern, I was 8 to be 9 in the fall, and a chunk of fabric and showed me how to make a pair of shorts. After that, because we didn't have much money and fabric was cheap back then, I made everything I wore except for a few hand me downs. I pretty much started working to make money doing things like doll clothes for people for their daughters. That bought me shoes. Then as I got older I really started sewing. Tailored men's suits, shirts and ties as well as clothes for my four kids. Then onto wedding gowns and the brides maid dresses, as well as the flower girl. I have made awnings for outdoor enclosures, upholstered cars including the headliners and down now to making a complete gnome village all from a pair of shorts in the summer of 1958. Through all of that, I really appreciate the people such as yourself that have inspired me with your creativeness. It's the spark that keeps me going. I hope you do realize how much you are appreciated. I am forever grateful to you Patti and all the wonderful people on UA-cam from which I have learned so much. Stay well.
Thank you so much Kathy. Wow, your life sound similar to mine. I had a sewing business when I was in my 20's. Tailoring and did several wedding and bridesmaids dresses. Sewing is getting to be a lost talent. I wish more young people would get interested in it. I bought my daughters and granddaughter all sewing machines years ago. They still have not taken them out of the box. Have a great week. Stay safe.
@@PattiJGood Only one of my three daughters sews and she complains about not being able to fit things yet, she won't learn to use a pattern and adjust it. I used to make doll clothes for money when I was still home and later when I had my babies and need some cash, I designed and made handbags. Pretty funny when I see someone still using one of them that is over 45 years old. Still in fashion and useful. The fabric or zippers would give out before my sewing. I double stitched everything. Wish we lived closer. I'd show you some of the crazy stuff I do. People think I am short one but they still love what I am doing. Makes me happy. Stay well and enjoy what you do.
Last year I found a guy on utube that does clay sculptures. I learned a lot about clay. I did a few of his characters. It's amazing the kind of clay that's out there. I never would have thought that bendable clay would exist. If you want to check it out it's Ace of Clay. I'm so glad your are introducing us to new clay and new crafting ideas 💡. Take care my friend.

@@PattiJGood Patti, I've only been watching your videos since this past Easter. I check you videos on UA-cam here, but couldn't find the cowboy. Can you send me the link??
What a cutie! Love the fabric and those shoes😍 I want a pair. They look comfy and I need to get out of my cowgirl boots 🤪 I had a fun morning before leaving the house. Darla Jean decided she wanted to play tug of war with me. She tried dragging me back into my bedroom and I was dragging her to the kitchen. I didn't think a dog's jaws could be that strong. We went back and forth for a minute. I won this time. 😂. She's still growing into her body. 11 months young on the 21st. 😁 See you on Thursday! ❤️❤️❤️
Happy Labor Day Patty this wizard gnome is so darn cute ☺️ I love watching your videos just up set I can’t make all of them no place to put them 💕🥰👍😍😘💚💙
