What a shame stew took a break from outdoors after this season. Him only having 1 motocross title is mind boggling. He should’ve had at least three titles with that talent
James Stewart going Supercross-only at the prime of his career was certainly a bad decision one way or another. When Jeremy McGrath went Supercross-only in 1999, he was 27; Chad Reed did so in 2007 at age 25, but he came back for the '09 season. James would very much have won (if not contended for) the MX titles from 2009-11, but his complaints about the 2010, '11, and '12 Yamahas really brought out his true colors at that time. 2009 was worse because Yamaha did have a bike available when it was revealed Broc Hepler would not be contesting the Motocross season that year due to a concussion at Vegas.
Stewart would have dominated Motocross had the powers that be not held him back during his first 450 season where he rode a 250 2t. They wanted Carmichael as the Goat but die hard fans know James would have set more records hands down. Then they allowed MTV to get their hands on James. James Stewart is the real GOAT.
That was all Kawasaki's own doing for not having their 450cc available in 2005. As it turned out, Stewart did sweep the 2008 series, and lost out on the 2007 MX season had he just listened to himself after he took the points lead from RC at Thunder Valley. Then, going SX-only at the prime of his career was the real beginning of the end. That BS "Bubba's World" show certainly downgraded my perspective on him. Regardless, James Stewart is NOT the GOAT -- not today, not tomorrow, not EVER!! True MX fans know RC is the only man qualified to have that status, as well as MC in Supercross. The San Manuel debacle, how many bridges he burned, and his 2.5-year "hide-and-seek game" as I call it following his WADA suspension are solid proof.
@@MathewVsSportsMediaandGames "true MX fans" bit than you go on to whine about his personal life and nothing about racing😂 James was the fastest man on a bike regardless rode with better style than anyone in the field and had so much more technique than rc, not saying rc isn't a legend but to act like bubba didn't come close is just your personal opinion/vendetta for James, it's not factual. I guess I will consider you a NON "true mxer"
@@rapscallion3421 Calling me "non true MXer" is going to earn you a TON of laughs -- believe that! There's a thing called REALITY -- USE IT! It's good for you! I respect the speed and all that, but going SX-only at the prime of his career was the beginning of the end for Stewart. For Stewart's career to end via a WADA suspension is something no athlete deserves, but the way he went out was very disastrous. When Jeremy McGrath set the record of 72 Supercross wins in 10 250cc Supercross seasons, everybody was hyping Carmichael up, but Davey Coombs said it best -- MC wanted people to remember that the score was 72-2. In the end, RC never passed McGrath and the score was 72-48.
@@rapscallion3421 No, you did, buddy boy. Everybody's gonna look at YOU as a BI-IG joke! Stewart NEVER beat RC straight up in MX; the speed (respectable as it is) DOESN'T MATTER here! What happens in the end DOES matter! He was no match for Dungey, Villopoto, and eventually Chad Reed! In the long run, RC and MC are the true GOATs of the sport with Chad Reed an honorable mention! Try suck on that!
Thanks for the video I really enjoyed that!!
You're very welcome. James really hit his stride after that knee surgery, but going SX-only from 2009-2011 was the beginning of the end in my book.
