    yes! This is the review I needed. All the others I watched either had recipes I would never order, weren't based on a vegan plan, or they had just ordered separate groceries rather than recipes. Thanks!

    I finally watched this after watching your update video almost a year ago. I'm glad you mentioned the scammy feeling. To be honest, there are a lot of services that I don't try because I am simply not willing to fork over my credit card just to find out what it is. I think over time, this habit of turning everything into a subscription will come to an end as consumers simply refuse to participate in it.

      @TotallyForkable  4 місяці тому

      Absolutely!! There are even financial apps now that use "subscription tracking" as one of their main selling points. The whole model feels designed to trick and take advantage of our hectic lives, and that feels super icky.

    Hi Marielle, I came across your channel when looking for Daily Harvest reviews and then binge-watched most of your videos. I love how thorough your reviews are, and I also love your personality and your attitude about being vegan. I’ve been vegetarian for 27 years and never wanted to go full vegan, but you are inspiring me to consider it ❤️

      Eva, thank you so, so much for this comment 🙏🏻 Everything you said is all I could ever hope for someone to get out of my channel! Comments like yours are what keep me motivated ❤️

    thanks for your review of The Root. Blue Apron is getting boring already only about 4 kits in. Might try the Root

      I love you nicknaming it "The Root"! lol. And yes I will probably restart when funds allow--they made a lot of improvements over the years and the convenience factor is undeniable.

    LOL, this plant-based meal service reviewing is really becoming your forte! That seems a reasonable cost for the volume and variety of stuff, but that their proprietary tofu burger was the sucky thing is odd. Maybe they're just too new to have worked out the design flaws of their offerings? ThanksForPosting!

    • @TotallyForkable
      @TotallyForkable  2 роки тому

      Hii Tamara!! Yes I think it was a pretty good value but the tofu burger was an unpleasant surprise. Everyone's tastes are different so maybe it's just me (& Paul) that didn't like it 🤔They have actually been around since 2016 so I would think they would have really fine-tuned their offerings. They allow you to review the meals on their website so I'll have to remember to give that one a bad review 😂

    Thank you for all this good information. Because I was really skeptical especially not being able to browse the groceries & I would like to see the nutritional content to much sodium isn't good for me. But as you said you have to sign up & give us your credit card info that leaves me iffy not liking that Thank you for the video very informational.

      You're welcome; I'm so glad this was helpful! One thing you can always do is sign up, browse, and then immediately cancel. It's a pain but I've done that with a few of these services. I *think* that avoids any CC charges. Good luck!!

    On the website they tell you the nutritional info of every recipe (now)

      That's great! I honestly feel like every time I go on their site they've changed something else (for the better).

    Are you allowed to remove single items out of the cart? For example, if one of the recipes calls for rice but you already have enough rice at home, are you allowed to remove the rice while keeping the rest of the stuff in the cart from the recipe?

    • @TotallyForkable
      @TotallyForkable  7 місяців тому

      You can’t modify ingredients in a recipe (last I checked) but you can find the other ingredients (the ones you do need) in the marketplace/grocery section and add them to your cart.

    • @daniellabirch2600
      @daniellabirch2600 5 місяців тому

      So they recently added this as a feature. I really liked it. It's still expensive though and they're still really sketchy with how they charge you. You can't really view the amount charged to your card until after the order has gone through.

    How is the sodium?

    • @TotallyForkable
      @TotallyForkable  Рік тому

      I’m not a big label reader but the hungryroot packaged items were all quite (overly IMO) salty. As for the other retailers they carry, it’s going to vary from product to product. If making their meals, I’d recommend not adding extra salt to things like veggies while you are cooking them.

    Why don’t you keep the sauce to use if you’re going to order food out or when you get more food and don’t get the sauce that they give you just use the sauce that you have left that would be a good idea

    • @TotallyForkable
      @TotallyForkable  Рік тому +1

      I think that's generally a good idea! For us I found we would get very sick of the sauces after using them for a few meals, and not want to eat them again for a few weeks.

    I'm glad I came across your video I am newly vegan and I was going to place an order after watching it, but I've decided not to order. I don't like processed foods, I like to see my food before I buy, and I don't like salt. I never add it to my food and always check to see how much sodium is in my ingredients. plus I don't like to hassle of having to call to stop deliveries sounds like a scam to me. This is a great video, and very informative thank you

      I'm so glad it was helpful! I find that if i just use them as a grocery delivery service I am much happier. I pretty much avoid the Hungryroot products at all costs; they still have lots of great grocery options on there for me. I ended up making an updated review 8 months later; you might find that helpful too! ua-cam.com/video/HYcYGXp5_yY/v-deo.html
