I smiled when you said you have cold hands and it means a warm heart, because I feel I am the same, plus my feet are also very cold, my mum calls them "frog feet", so I always wear a fluffy, warm socks on them, in every season except very hot weather.

Great content! Amazing podcast. I started listening to it after your podcast with Luke. Therefore, my favourite expression is "pinky promise", because I couldn't understand, what my 4 yo daughter was saying to me. She attends a Canadian daycare and knows English better than me. This is so true about parenting! However bad you feel, you still have to go about your responsibilities. Great podcast! Very useful indeed. My favourite one is "to be under the weather". Didn't know it before to be honest.

I'm relieved to know that I'm not the only one battling with sweet cravings in winter months. It may sound ludicrous but I crave sweets whenever I'm sleep deprived which happens regularly as my two year old is a terrible sleeper

Hi teacher, thank you for your marvellous lesson. My favourite phrases are: To be under the weather and snowed under. I am freezing, wrap up warm. Teacher to be honest I don't know why I like these words. I like just hear them sounds nice in my hears.
Thank you for your appreciation! It's great to hear that you like those phrases. They are both very useful and can be used in a variety of situations. To be 'under the weather' is often used to describe when someone is feeling ill, while 'snowed under' is used to describe having too much work to do. 'I am freezing, wrap up warm' is a helpful phrase to use in colder weather to remind people to stay warm.

Hey, how's it going. Thanks for your deep dive into winterish topic. I like the phrase, "to add fuel to the fire". There's another expression, "to add insult to injury " and I wonder if we can use it in the same context? For my liking they are fairly similar to each other in terms of their meaning. Thanks for the suggestion! I love the phrase "to add insult to injury" and I think it can definitely be used in a similar context. I think it works well because it implies that the situation has already been bad, and it's only getting worse as more and more fuel is added to the fire. So it has a similar meaning to the phrase I mentioned, but with a slightly different emphasis. Thanks again for the great suggestion!

"Manos frias, corazon caliente", also here in Spain we use this expression.
Youngesters are often told this phrase if you want to embarrass them... "Oh, you have cold hands!: Cold hands, warm heart" (that means they have a crush on someone: your hands are cold because all your blood is in your heart). And they automatically blush. 🤭

Chile is the Latin American country with the most British ancestry.
Reason why, Chile is the Latin American country with the highest per capita cosumption of tea.
And also, it is the only country in Latin America where the cosumption of tea exceeds that of coffee.
We Chileans love to drink tea at any time of the day. In the morning, in the afternoon at night…
We usually drink approximately 4-5 cups f tea daily.
And just like in the UK, here in Chile we also drink milk tea. Although, not all Chileans like.
Some prefer tea without milk.
Thank you for your interesting facts about Chile and its tea drinking habits! I find it fascinating that the consumption of tea is higher than coffee in your country. In the past, here in Chile people used to drink yerba mate. There are still some Chileans who consume it.
The British instilled in our country the custom of drinking tea. Because they didn’t really like drinking yerba mate.
Another reason why tea consumption became very popular here in Chile, is because in 1767 there was a tax on the consumption of yerba mate, in order to pay for the construction of the Cal y Canto bridge. Therefore, the British, who were already installed in a large part of Chile, took over the importation and distribution of tea in our country.
Anna I have cold hands and cold feet too from time to time. But in my case it is connected with anxiety. I am a very anxious person. When I am calm, my extremities are warm! My nervous system leaves much to be desired!But I do have a warm heart! 😉

Chocolate is a delicious treat that can be enjoyed any time of year. You don't need to be addicted to it to enjoy it, and it can be a great pick-me-up on a cold winter day. :)

I don't think that the problem with sugar resides in eating fruits or rice or potatoes. It's good to have it in your diet because we need carbohydrates fir our brain and muscles. The real problem is the sugar in sweets like candy 🍬 or 🎂 or biscuits and spoons in the tea or coffee or sugared drinks or alcohol. They could be really toxic for our body so it us good to eat it with caution. I am well aware, of course, that is difficult but I think that if you eat a sweet in the weekend you enjoy it more than if you eat it every single day. Believe me, I have a very sweet tooth myself, but I think it's the best way to cope with this sweet "weakness".
That's an excellent way to approach this issue. I think it all comes down to moderation, and by restricting our sugar intake to the weekends, we can enjoy it without the worry of overdoing it. That being said, it's still important to be mindful of the sugar in fruit and other carbohydrates, as it can still have a negative effect on our health if we consume too much. I think it's also important to look for healthier alternatives to sugary snacks, such as dark chocolate or dried fruit. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
