An emotional Virat Kohli shared one of the biggest highlights of his cricket career with his teammates and family after India won the T20 World Cup 2024 crown in Barbados. Kohli played a key role in India's seven-run win over South Africa in the men's T20 World Cup Final. Virat Kohli won the Player of the Match Award for his heroics with the bat -- a 59-ball 76 in one of the most thrilling finishes to a T20 World Cup tournament.
Virat Kohli also announced his T20i retirement, saying he was keen on paving the way for the next generation in this format. Virat Kohli moved away from the celebrating Indian group and made sure he had a quick word with his family. Virat Kohli, who had managed just 75 runs in 7 matches before the big final, silenced his naysayers, hitting 76 off 59 balls. Kohli held one end after India were reduced to 34 for 3 in the powerplay after Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat. However, Kohli and Axar Patel stitched a match-winning partnership for the fourth wicket.
Kohli hit his fifty in 48 balls, but accelerated after that, hitting 29 runs in the next 11 deliveries as India posted 176 on the board.
