Hi man, great review and I really like your vids.
I have a question...I would say me and you are more or less same surfing level. I am smaller than you and most of my twins are between 5.4-5.6 with 28-30 litters.
I searching for my next high performance twin and I would like to hear your opinion between the panda rocket to the album twinsman.
I surf in Israel so most of the surf here is weak 1-5 ft beach break's.
Thank you!
Loving the twinny reviews mate! Don't suppose you're planning to have a look at the DHD mini twin?
Hey! No, don’t really do DH’s, though a lot of people have been asking for a Mini-Twin Review.
I just got the Album Twinsman - which is Asher Paceys new twin with Album - review will be coming up!
Anyone know how far the fin boxes are from the tail? Look pretty close and that tends to add more control I like my twins with the fins a little further up
Great review as always! What do you think of this rocket fish , black baron and dhd mini twin?
Hey mate!
I’ve never ridden the mini twin, but the Black Baron is more of a high performance twin fin - using an upright fin, and with an outline and foil etc that’s very modern. This is more of a traditional “fish” style twin fin, but, still very capable of some good high performance surfing.
Great review. I’d be really interested to see what you would think of the McTavish Phantom Limb. Sorta similar with glassed on keel fins. I found it to be a ripper.
Hey! I’ve never had a McTavish, but they look epic! Have you already got the board?
The Surfboard Guide Yep. It’s mental. I’ve got the 5’5”. I ride similar dims to you. The thing flys. Super easy to turn and feels the same on forehand or backhand. Doesn’t slide out when you put your weight into it. Made me feel just like Harry Carpenter, the guy in their promo vid. Kinda makes me feel like giving up on more conventional short boards. A real smile inducer! Jason at Keel Surf & Supply had a couple. That’s were I picked up mine. You should try one!
looks sick! you going to do the panda schrizz too? funky looking stubnose quad
Maybe - I just saw a “Doinker” and it looked pretty epic! Loving Blake’s boards!
Great review 👌🏽
Thanks - it was such a fun board, and the Rasta keels really lit it up!
how would you compare to the Astro zombie?
Similar, but this felt like it wanted to surf slightly more high-performance, where the AZ wanted to cruise and carve a little more...
So you give me the dimensions of the fish. Float wise. But now I have to guesstimate how much you weigh compared to how much I weigh.so the dimensions don't help me out as much as they would if you just say I weigh blankety blank. I'm thinking you weigh about the same as me and maybe your 5 in shorter. Still puts me a couple inches longer on the board I think to get a little more volume
Hey mate!
Yes and no, as volume to weight is not prescriptive, and if you have an idea of the volume range you like to surf in, then you can adjust to your liking.
I ride quite low volume to weight (which is 92kgs), but some people don't like that - it s personal preference!
@@TheSurfboardGuide thank you so much for replying I think your show is great. I think you're a smart fella. I've learned how the volume thing affects my personal surfing at weight versus paddle. So I was stoked you mentioned the long paddles at the point. That's what the floats about for me...I hope you're able to and keep doing this show into your seventies and beyond
Craig, another thorough review. You look spicy on rather small and weak waves too, really making the board work for you. Just picked up a custom DHD phoenix n surfed it today in weak, glassy, peaky 1-3’. As Mick says,”It’ll get you out there on days that you’d probably pass on. It’s high performance fun n you think you’re ripping!” Exactly, how I felt. You could get in n moving, it made things easier. Would love to hear your thoughts on it. Lol, I know everyone says that. Cheers!
Thanks mate - this DHD Phoenix’s look really fun! Be frothing to check one out! ✌️
