For those who don't know the history of the song Thoughts need to go back to Spock's Beard album Beware of Darkness in 1995. It was written in the style of Gentle Giant. On Spock's Beard album V Neal wrote Thoughts Part 2 again with a Gentle Giant flair. For his solo album Momentum Neal wrote a sequel for the song and named it Thoughts part 5 in case SB wanted to write their own sequels. They did on the Brief Nocturnes And Dreamless Sleep (they wrote with Neal's assistance) their follow up called Afterthoughts. Neal is influenced by Genesis, Yes, Kansas, Gentle Giant and the Beatles to name just a few. Yes, they do come out in huis music naturally. Another great song Neal wrote in this style was called Time Changer from the Testimony II album.
Not to mention "Author of Confusion" from his "One" album. In fact, I believe the tailend of the vocal melody in the verses are derived from the same vocal melody at the tailend of the verses from Author of Confusion.
If you like this kind of music, check out these bands: Haken, Anthriel, Eumeria, Children Of Nova, Frost*, Liquid Tension Experiment, Magic Pie, Minotaur Project, Myrath, Ne Obliviscaris, Rishloo, Scale The Summit, Seventh Wonder, Sonata Arctica, Transatlantic, Vangough, Xerath, Andromeda,...
ESPECIALLY Transatlantic. Their first album is almost perfect. Also their albums Whirlwind and Kaleidoscope are incredible. Scale The Summit and Liquid Tension Experiment are incredible Instrumental bands. STS's song "Atlus Novus" is my fav instrumental. I highly recommend.

Hola hola cómo están?
My band teacher told me to look this up. holy. fucking. shit. Im amazed.
You should try Anglagard.
Extremely derivative though catchy.
Title should be "Knots Part 5". I hope Neal Morse composed this tune as a tribute to Gentle Giant.
