- Special thanks to Dripmode for inspiring this project but also to my mother! Watching videos on UA-cam about diorama building was something I started doing with my mother when I went to hang out at her house and we watched all of Dripmode's content. He is a huge inspiration to me ad I knew I wanted to have my mom work on this particular project.

Won't lie, Wolverine lying on the bed with the picture of Jean and Scott got me 😂 great work on painting this up, it's sometimes astounding how much detail they used to pack into plastic toys like this back in the day
Haha thank you! I built a dio for Wolverine recreating the meme a while back. It wasn’t a good dio but it was fun haha
They really did go all out on sculpts. Probably never thought grown adults would buy them and bring them to life haha
Your mother loving crafts...is such a great help. Someone who doesn't mind, and gets into, your passion!!
She was happy to make her UA-cam debut!
I little tip: after you’ve glued the greenery, spray it will alcohol and then watered down modpodge. It should help it stick better. The alcohol causes the modpodge to get into all the little fibers. Anyway, hope that helps.
Yes! That helps a lot! I actually used that trick on my Wolverine Crucifixion dio but didn’t think to do it with this. I don’t think it’s too late to go back and reapply so I will definitely do that! Thank you!
Came here to say the same thing! Alcohol and glue in a spray bottle or dropper will be your best friend
@@tonelesss thank you!! Definitely going to reapply
Thomas you’re a diorama genius ! Thank you for this inspiration. The only thing im gonna do differently is I’m gonna flesh out the interior a bit, add drapes, and some furniture for Xavier’s “study” and storms room and rogues room. You’re dioramas are the best on UA-cam , you make it look effortless
@@kevinwish1343 thanks dude! I may print little photos to go into the pictures frames and then print out a design to put into the grandfather clock (wish I didn’t throw that away). I’m happy with all the gold embellishments but ya you could really go nuts on the inside. Appreciate you checking it out! Going to start working on my next project soon but I have a small giveaway coming!
Yessssss !!!! you did it ... great turn out and I love that your mom was involved.YOu should be very proud of yourself, I know taking that toy apart was painful lol . Thank you for the kind words and Im happy to have inspired into this hobby and community. Bravo !!!!!
Thanks dude! And thanks for the tips throughout the project! I didn’t know action figure dioramas were a thing until we started checking out your videos. Then I dived deep into this fun little world! Appreciate ya dude and hope the fam is doing well!
Salute 🫡 to the KING 👑
@@thomasgoesnostalgic Two of my favorite favorite people you did such an amazing job and shout out to your mom 💚💪🏾
@@ivan363 thank you dude! She was so excited to make her debut 😆
Your mom is incredible. She did an amazing job.
She’s a star! ⭐️
Salute to Dripmode, he got me into watching the dio community. This turned out great and the amount of detail that was original to the dollhouse was perfect.
Absolutely! I remember seeing someone build a dio out of wood which seemed really out of reach for me. But when I started watching Drip he would break down everything so it was easy for viewers to understand and I always appreciated that. I started my channel from the perspective of a complete newbie so from start to finish hopefully the progression is there but a lot of the fundamentals I learned come from him. Thanks for checking out the video!
I love how you and your mom did this together. Dang, her hand painting the bathroom tiles and flowers was impressive! I had my doubts about the ivory at first but the black wash made it just right. This turned out great!
Thank you! She is awesome and knew she would love working on those small details! Wasn’t sure about the color either but never really know until you add that wash!
Amazing what you can do with one thing and transform it into another. The sculpted, but unpainted, details on the original are CRAZY. Way to bring it out.
Thanks dude! Some playsets were perfect the way they were but imagine if all older playsets painted every single detail. I wonder what else could utilize this treatment!
Love seeing this come together! Super cool that your mom was down to help and that you both liked watching dripmode videos for different reasons haha. The mansion turned out great, I love the additions of the paint washes and the killer job your mom did on the flowers and stuff. That gold wash technique is awesome!
Happy to see this one come together at last! Good luck finding a place to store it haha, seeing it with figures at the end gave me a sense of the size and it is GIANT. Great video!
Finally done! Man this was a bigger undertaking than I thought. Haha for now I think I gotta put up some shelves at my mom. She has marvel vs capcom in her entertainment room so maybe it will go above that.
Plain old tacky glue would hold that flocking better, This turned out amazing and I can't wait to try that gold wash
Thanks dude! Actually that’s exactly what I did when I reapplied it and it worked like a charm! Thank you!
It’s amazing most of these vintage toys have INCREDIBLE sculpt just waiting for a dark wash. Great work customizing this piece! I don’t know much about XMen (but I recognized the Wolverine meme!) but I loved watching the process! Hope you do more!
I know right!? I think the first playsets I repainted was an old McDonald’s playset from the 70s. They have so much unpainted detail! I am on the look out for a smaller dollhouse that could potentially be a haunted house for my Elvira figure (but she scales a little taller). Stay tuned though! I have some scratch builds coming up and one more vintage toy repaint hopefully by the end of the year!
Really cool! I’ve seen people use a drop or two of dish soap to stabilize the wash
Thank you! And I will try that!
I don't buy marvel legends, but I totally would if they made something like this.
You know, I keep telling myself not to buy them then I quit for a while then I get sucked back in haha. I originally only wanted the mainline Jim Lee X-men but things escalated quickly 😆 even if you don’t have marvel legends, I do think this or a similar doll house would be cool for Wayne Manor or even just a Haunted House for Halloween!
Brah… this blew my mind, well done sir
Thank you dude! I learned from some of the best!
It really came alive once the x-men were in front of it! Great job!
Thank you sir! Really appreciate that! And agreed! Especially putting the Sentinel in there, really gives the scale of the dollhouse
There's some serious meme potential in having a model of the X-mansion's bathroom
Haha that is so true
This is so good!!👏🏼👏🏼💯🔥 I learned something new, you can do a gold wash. Shout out to your mom shes an artist!👏🏼👏🏼. Yes you did it justice!🔥🥂
Heck yea I got so excited when the gold wash worked! My mom did awesome! Thanks for watching and appreciate you!!
Would be amazing to get into that sound board and add the X-Men intro song(no clue how difficult it would be lol) awesome project!
Don’t make me go down another rabbit hole haha. But thanks. Now looking up how tos on that 😆
God bless your mom. Mine never showed interest in anything I was into.
She is an awesome lady! I think she enjoys my collecting. She has collected all sorts of things throughout the years. Plus, she is an extra set of eyes out there when there are Target releases. Mom will track them down haha
Great transformation both of you! It looks epic!
Thank you!!! Appreciate that!
Thank you for sharing 😌
Looks great. I bought this dollhouse several years ago after watching Dripmode's video. I hope to get to get started on it soon.
I cannot emphasize enough….take pictures as you take apart haha learn from my mistakes :)
a hairdryer would help in loosening plastic joint to soften the plastic.
Yea was just chatting with someone in the comments. I agree I just forgot to get mine out. I was in demolition mode haha
Looks great!
Thank you!!!
Amazing work once again! To you and your mother !
Thank you!!! Couldn’t have done it without her!
Amazing work. As always, a great job ✨✨
Thank you so much!!!
You and your mom brought this project to life!!!! ❤😊❤
Thank you! She’s the true artiste!🧑🎨
@@thomasgoesnostalgic you are welcome 🤗
She definitely is 😄
Awesome man. Inspiring me to work on one now.
Thank you! Check your thrift and Facebook marketplace! I looked in my area recently and there are all sorts of dollhouses
This turned out well
Thanks dude!
Endearing and playful! I’d do hours of play and imagination if this existed pre-internet era
I wish I knew some of this stuff pre internet! I always loved the scenes in old toys commercials wondering why we never got them as playsets! Now I know how they made them!
Amazing!
Thanks dude!!!!
Looks so great!!! Your mom is awesome!!! With the dark interior, that entry light makes it look super creepy and Gothic in the foyer! The whole exterior looks fantastic, love the sentinel behind it... gives it a cool scale feeling. Strangely the whole thing reminds me of the X-Factor made for TV movie in the 90s... taped it off tv and use to watch that over and over. Good nostalgic feel all in all... True to your name!!!
Yea I really wanted it to double as X Mansion but also like a fancy lounge or club for Hellfire Club. Haha omg I remember that movie. I think the only thing I remember is the dad from honey I shrunk the kids is the bad guy 😆
You and your mom did a great job. What an amazing team!
Thanks dude! Mom’s always been the artist so this was a fun activity pulling her into. Couldn’t have done those small details without her, not with my shaky hands 😆
Amazing Project as always! Thanks for the inspiration to start my own project like this!
Dude, you are going to crush it! Can’t wait to see the Haunted House!
Excellence. Well done.
Thank you!!!!
@thomasgoesnostalgic no problem. I come to this from 28mm wargaming, so slightly different, but really appreciate good workmanship
@@lesliestevenson5261 I really want to try my hand at painting minis and eventually getting into playing. It’s such an amazing hobby I respect but don’t know where to start. I love Black Magic Craft and Tabletop Witchcraft but if you have any suggestions I’ll gladly be open to all
this is so freaking cool!!! what an awesome project!!
Thank you!!!
Nice job homie!

Yay for mom!!

Nice… 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👏👏👏👏
Thank you dude!!!!
X-cellent!
Heck yea thanks dude!
I just found a doll house that someone put out on the curb. Good condition. I'm gonna turn it into a haunted house for a fun Halloween project. 👻🎃
Yes!!!! Have you checked out Wicked Makers UA-cam channel? They did a sweet haunted dollhouse
its cool but i think you shoulda done bricks for the walls.
Like paint them on? I would have gone cross eyed for sure 😆 would’ve been more screen accurate but I really just wanted to focus on repainting existing details. There is some brickwork on side panel and border but I covered most border with the greenery
@@thomasgoesnostalgic no, no, you could just draw on a brick design using a shading pencil with a touch of white color pencil here and there.
A trick I learn is to use an old wooded ruler with a damaged edge to help draw the lines.
I wasnt thinking more accurate, just your walls look really plain and super clean.
@@JohnL226 thanks for the tip!
A+
Thank you dude!!
Looks much better for 1:18 (3.75") Marvel Universe figures.
I even feel like that they would be too small. Maybe I’ll take some pictures with my old 5 inch ToyBiz. I think they might be the sweet spot
@@thomasgoesnostalgic Maybeso- the Marvel Universe line varies in size between 3.6" (Wolverine) to 4.5" (Colossus), so I think that's a good place- and doors and windows in old mansions tend to be oversized.
Either way, you did a hell of a job and I'm duly impressed.
Y'know, I was think you could make the inside (or at least some of it) all high tech and modern to reflect how they have alien technology and the Danger Room and such.
Just an idea- and you could probably use high tech looking backdrops cut to size for some rooms to save money and hassle.
@@jasoncaldwell5627 that’s a great idea! Have you seen the X-men 97 Airbnb? I forgot to mention but I took some of the color inspiration from that. The inside is really cool if I ever wanted to go in and mimic that design. There is a walk thru of it UA-cam if you want to check it out!
@@thomasgoesnostalgic I haven't seen it yet- I'll go check it out, thanks!
I was think that, if you ever score another if these dollhouses, you can cut a large circle in the top center part and add the Doctor Strange skylight symbol. Just paint the rest like his NYC brownstone sanctum.
@@jasoncaldwell5627 dude that’s such a good idea. The next version of this dollhouse that came out a few years later would make a perfect Dr Strange Dio!
You did a umm… Damn good job on it. lol for real it’s cool 🎉
Thanks dude!!! Really appreciate that!!!
you both did great work, wow!
and it looks really good, colours and all
but it s a bit too small
I do dios with foam - cardboard, and always go for 10' high walls - ceiling
and that should be higher for mansions as this
you show pics very fast, but I have the eye
not even an inch between heads and ceiling
like if I could touch the ceiling with my hands in my apartment, I can t, it s too high...
I think this house is good for 3' -4' figs
so that it looks spacey and wide - high
it shows less by the outside
most people will probably not notice
especially if the figs are not close to the walls
yeah, it fits other figs, I d try ghostbusters
you made a dark interior, it d work
dios are half my fun with figs now
and they re never finished, you can always add more, refine it further
so now you know...
good show bro
Yea when I build my own definitely make walls bigger. I think for photography you could get away with a few shots but some are too tall on the inside they would need to sit down. I like having it open so it kind of looks like they are in a wide open foyer.
Ghostbusters would be cool too! Thanks for checking out and thanks for sharing!!
@@thomasgoesnostalgic I think the best of it is that you now broke the ice... ha, ha, now you ll get more ambitious, like me, D I started with a small 1' x 1' place in a lighted cabinet - desk, then I built bigger, and bigger.
the arena section is a monster, it was nt supposed to be as big, but it needed more space at places, so I expanded, more here, and there, = 3' x 3' x 3', giant.
in one piece, this could never leave past my door frame...
I checked, and it needs to stay modular, or never leave.
it s 5 sections now, I ll try to get it to 3
base + high wall + lab cover - roof - stands
I glue many times, so it can fall to the ground no damage
as tough as Joes, bang em, they love it! D
thanks bro
@@cyberfrank-bx2nv I did build a 4ft sky scraper last year for Ninja Turtles. That was probably my biggest project 😆 had to make it fit in the space I had. I subscribed to your channel. Loved the work I saw your Lego set up is sooo awesome!
@@thomasgoesnostalgic thank you very much bro! 65k awesome. I stopped the animation studio, these will probably be my only pieces. but it was a dream project.
and I made it, just a few more polishes, and it would have been top tube Lego movie from home I think.
is the skyscraper visible on your channel? I d like to see that! hey thanks again!
its 1/18 scale.
👏
Dr. strange house next?
Haha negative haha
hair dryer on those clips bud
Ugh you are right. I have both a hair dryer and a heat gun and for some reason my brain didn’t go that direction haha luckily no dollhouse parts were harmed in the making of the video
@@thomasgoesnostalgic sweet!! For a minute I thought you might have snapped one or something
@@jasonpatchen1912 nothing snapped but I probably should have used hair dryer haha would have made my life easier
Broooo! This is so awesome! I honestly never thought of this! Wolverine in the bed😂😂😂🤌🏾
Haha I did a video on making the bed with a diorama but subjectively it wasn’t very good. But I still keep it around to recreate the meme 😆 thanks for watching! Really appreciate it. I have been focusing on so many tmnt dioramas I told myself this would be the summer of mutants. I’ve made a bunch of X-men dios in the past but still had a few ideas in the tank! More to come!
@@thomasgoesnostalgic if you ever get a chance, do the Danger Room!🔥
@@marcgodley3064 maybe!!! I did a Sentinel diorama to fit inside Detolf. Made it look like he was busting through a warehouse. My two next projects will be Deadpool and a Jim Lee inspired diorama. Some other ideas I have wanted to do was creating a dio for Arcade and the MurderWorld. Maybe I can make it multifunctional as Danger Room too!
Looks great!
Thanks dude!!!
