The NAACP accepted at least one donation of $2,000,000.00 to one of our accounting classifications. For such kindly donations it would be rude of us not to allow The Mormon President to address them. However, be certain that there is not one member of the organization at this gathering listening to this man who is not 💯 percent knowledgeable of how the Mormon Church systematically hurt African Americans since its creation. The Mormon Church did not even allow Black Men of Continental African Descent to be holders of their "priesthood" until 1978 when they were told by the court " to allow Black men full participation in the Mormon Church or suffer the loss of your tax exempt status. Only then did the Mormon leaders go I their temple and revelates their asses off ......and allow Black men to be worthy priesthood holders if they paid full 10 percent to tithes on 100 percent of their pre-tax income. Leaders of the Mormon Church, like this gentleman are supposed to modern prophets of God and speak for God. These racist frauds don't make mistakes. So my Black Brothers and Sisters go read prophet Brigham Young's Doctrines and Discourses about what he stated about Black people. Then ask this gentleman if he will disavow what that old racist wrote? In the meantime, let him run his lying mouth any time he wants for $2,000,000.00 donations and up.
Living in the past can be that event upon which hatred is built. We need to learn from the past. None of us is without sin. John 8:7 says, “He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone ...." So, all of you who are without sin, go ahead and cast your stones at a man that is showing love and affection to all who are brothers and sisters of our Heavenly Father.
@@Boneyardbound Bobby, The NAACP accepted at least one documented donation of $2,000.000.00 to one of its activities before allowing this gentleman to speak. That's a fact. He made a very nice speech. I won't judge either the sincerity of Dr. Nelson's sincerity or the sincerity of the NAACP Board of Directors that allowed him to speak. But being a Black Hispanic I will tell you that red flags fly when the name of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is mentioned. My understanding of your unique beliefs includes the fact that your Supreme Leader is a living prophet of God, right? So wasn't your Second Supreme Leader Brigham Young also a living Prophet when he was alive? I know that you are aware of the fact that in Brigham Young's Journal of Discourses the old racist wrote some very bad things about Black People that were obviously meant for Mormons to read? Don't say you have not read what Mr. Young wrote.....if half the Black People in the U.S.have. Read it? I sometimes email people copies of the filth that old racist wrote about Black People for their own edification. I ask you just one question:. If this good man/prophet/living God meant one single word that he paid $2,000,000.00 to say to a group of people that politely tolerated him: "Just why did this man just not disavow what that old racist Mr. Young said?" Isn't this gentleman supposed to be a Prophet? Or does he agree with what Young wrote so nearly 200 years ago? So, what is your answer? This is as far as I will take the matter, except with my own people. But I have one thing to ask about you Bobby? The logo next to your post is That of Confederate General Thomas J. Jackson, who might have won the American Civil War had he not been wounded by a Confederate sentry, and fortunately died. But in fairness to General Jackson he was against slavery and was one of many Confederate General Officer's that urged Confederate President Davis to free the slaves and then fire on Ft. Sumter as well as arming the slaves and putting them in line and engineer units. I don't doubt there are some very decent Mormon people. Dr. Nelson frankly seems nicer than some of the people hosting him! However, a good faith effort over a mutual dislike and distrust has a better chance of success if the evil act or acts are recognized and disavowed. But the Mormon Church never will ever admit their horrible choices of the past. Had Dr. Nelson had done that...,.maybe more than a few Black people would have actually listened to him, instead of our "Mormon Alert Red Flag Racist Alarms" going up......that prevented many people from even wanting to hear anything that this good man said. Thank you.
@@JaimeGarcia-pe7bj Thank you for some of your kind comments. Like I said, living in the past on items for which the Church has apologized belongs in the area of "forgiveness," which is said in Mark 11:25, "And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses." We need to resist calling people racist as it is an insult to those who are not, and for those who are, we must forgive. We need to live together with kindness and love, as our beloved Prophet has told us. We cannot unless we learn to forgive.

Hi Al, The "curse," you are referring to was a way that God could temporarily separate the people who choose to really love God, from those who didn't at that time. If everyone intermarried at that time, it would preserve paganism, and would destroy the Church of God. Lehi also told his grandchildren, that the "curse" will be taken from you and will rest upon the heads of your parents. "But behold, my sons and my daughters, I cannot go down to my grave save I should leave a blessing upon you; for behold, I know that if ye are brought up in the way ye should go ye will not depart from it. 6 Wherefore, if ye are cursed, behold, I leave my blessing upon you, that the cursing may be taken from you and be answered upon the heads of your parents. 7 Wherefore, because of my blessing the Lord God will not suffer that ye shall perish; wherefore, he will be merciful unto you and unto your seed forever." 2Nephi 4:5-7 There is also this great scripture: "...and he inviteth them all to come unto him and partake of his goodness; and he denieth none that come unto him, black and white, bond and free, male and female; and he remembereth the heathen; and all are alike unto God, both Jew and Gentile." 2 Nephi 26:33 I hope this helps clarify some misunderstanding. God bless you brother! If you want to know more about how God loves all of us regardless of race, etc., Go to churchofjesuschrist.org for more info
As much as the " church" can decide what the "best" version is. Where's all the fragments and manuscripts of "reformed egyption" What's the truth about the book of abraham.
How sad that your perspective is so stained by prejudice and cynicism. I hope that you don't believe that the Lord was a wine-bibber and that His organisation (Church) was, in fact, established to undermine the Pharisaic, monopolistic stranglehold on the religion of the region and to wrest from them the accumulated wealth of the temple treasure, including the widow's mite? Watching this feels so invigorating and cleansing....A prophetic insight and the transparent and honest means to unite and reconcile a previously disenfranchised segment of American society.
Every Mormon-Catholic, should read Isaiah 28, so they can put Mormonism in perspective. Catholics 'need' a Mortal Head to worship, just as Mormons 'need' a Mortal Head, to worship. It was not so in the Days Of The Apostles. There was no One Apostle, who "stood as God to the people''. It was Constantine, who established the first 'Worshipful' Bishop. Nelson doesn't even qualify to be a Truly False Prophet, as he has at no time been prompted by God or Satan, to peep or mutter, even one single prophecy--and, this applies to all of his predecessor ilk. Brigand Young, was perhaps the last Truly False Prophet that Mormonism has had. I guess you could say that Mormonism started off on the wrong foot. And, according to the old saying: "As it begins, so it goes". And, thus it has been going, for nigh on two hundred years. The paramount question for me, is this: Does Mormonism have a Thread Of Divinity, woven into it's fabric, from it's inception? My answer to that question, would be--YES. So, what part of Mormonism shall we embrace, and which parts must we VETO. I consider myself to be a Line Item Veto Mormon--as opposed to a Hook Line And Sinker Mormon. Did Joseph Smith truly possess a set of Ancient Gold Dipped Copper Plates. If so, then, we must ask whether his Seer Stone was firing on all cylinders? I have concluded that it was NOT! And, all who think otherwise, are themselves, not firing on all cylinders. It begs the question: How can millions of people, be so derelict, and complacent, while their Salvation, Redemption, and Exaltation, hang precariously suspended by the narrowest of threads--while simultaneously, putting all their Trust, in Flesh And Blood--as do all 'Good' Mormon-Catholics! Joseph Smith set the precedent, for a church based in Emotionalism. Something that the Bible clearly warns us against. Mormonism runs on Emotionalism--as opposed to Spiritual-Intellectual-Philosophical Intelligence Of God's Holy Spirit. No Mortal On Earth, should be given Carte Blanche. Abraham did not even give Almighty God carte blanche, where Sodom and Gomorrah was concerned--but haggled with "the Judge of the whole earth". How much more, should we haggle with mortals, who defecate and flatulate?

If you make an appointment with your bishop's executive secretary you and he can discuss the perceived slight. Bishoprics, and especially bishops, are very busy and may honestly have not noticed your efforts to say hello rather than intentionally ignoring you. Please give them the benefit of the doubt! I knew a sister who told me that our bishop not only refused to shake her hand, but had leaned over to smell her hair, and, enraged, she stopped attending church. When I confronted him in private on her behalf, I could tell he hadn't done either, and was even more creeped out by the second claim than I. He was just rushing to get to appointments!

Great speech but why always the digs at the President? So many church leaders act like it's a sin to support the President while being a church member, I'm really tired of it
I read this speech earlier today and did not notice any references to the President of the United States. He only references the president of the NAACP. As I listen to it now, I can see what you might think to be jabs at the U.S. president, but I'm certain that President Nelson was not referring to President Trump specifically, just the general principle of segregating other people with metaphorical and literal walls that we might create.
@@joshua_sykes To me it was abundantly clear that the remark about 'walls of segregation' starting at 2:11 was a not-so-subtle jab at the president. The tone and body language of President Nelson says it all. It's the same phraseology that all the world leaders use when they take a shot at President Trump. Makes me so tired implying that I have to choose one or the other, either the church or supporting the president.
@@mrlds3202 I like what our current US President has done for our economy. I do not like his tendency to bully and pick fights with those he dislikes at the moment. I support him for the office he holds, yet don't like his personality. It doesn't have to be either support the church or our current president. I fully support President Nelson as our Prophet - his words to the NAACP were exactly what I would expect them to be.
@@mrlds3202 You are aware that the word "segregation" was used in reference to segregating African-Americans from whites, well before President Trump was even born - Right? The word segregate did not originate with Trump, nor does he have sole claim to its use. To paint a picture using the phrase "walls of segregation", being used as President Nelson addresses the National Association for the Advancement of COLORED People clearly has reference to past bigotry and racism that started decades and centuries ago. There was nothing political about this speech (besides the call for citizens/governments to work better at not being racist), and there was definitely nothing directed or implied at the current President of the United States.
Wasn't he saying that? Everything he said referenced following the Lord's instructions and example. He talked about we need to do as individuals to follow the Savior's example. Never once did he talk about glory being his, nor did he make any demands that people follow him.
@@tdubs5128, I didn't say anything about him being a prophet. Your last phrase implied that what he was saying somehow took glory away from God and I simply stated that it does not.

Is President Nelson the mouthpiece of the Father?
After hearing his words in this speech, what would you say?

“the skins of the Lamanites were dark, according to the mark that was set upon their fathers, which was a curse upon them because of their transgression.” Alma 3:6
@@uthinkiamhot No they don't! They have never taught that. It's like the articles of faith. We believe that men will be punished for the own sins, and not for Adam's transgressions. The dark skin was a curse against them only. Those people also repented, and became more righteous the Nephites. Never have I ever heard a church leader say that dark skin is unclean.
@@uthinkiamhot Laugh all you want. Doesn't hurt my feelings. I suggest you look for confirmation from the Lord about the truth of the book. You can attack the church all you want, but will never fall.
@@raymullings514 It will never fall, until it runs plum out of Idiots to hold up it's pants--and, there are endless new crops of Idiots, to buy their Hallucinogens!
Hi Al,
The "curse," you are referring to was a way that God could temporarily separate the people who choose to really love God, from those who didn't at that time.
7 Wherefore, because of my blessing the Lord God will not suffer that ye shall perish; wherefore, he will be merciful unto you and unto your seed forever."
2Nephi 4:5-7
There is also this great scripture:
"...and he inviteth them all to come unto him and partake of his goodness; and he denieth none that come unto him, black and white, bond and free, male and female; and he remembereth the heathen; and all are alike unto God, both Jew and Gentile."
2 Nephi 26:33
I hope this helps clarify some misunderstanding.
God bless you brother!

@@midgetsmommy What are you talking about?
Watching this feels dirty. Backdoor reparation payments from the LdS church in exchange for positive press from the NAACP. Shameful.

WE THANK YOU DEAR PROPHET OF GOD FOR THE POWER MASSEGE
Well done and and upbeat
I appreciated hearing that
"For more than a century, the NAACP has been devoted to improving lives and elevating society. You have done much to protect and lift countless individuals. Your lofty ideals are inspiring!" Russell M Nelson.
We are not all God’s children. The Bible teaches this so plainly. You are adopted into God’s kingdom when you are baptized to Jesus.
I remember our race fathers. I give no disrespect to any of them.
very interesting quite a few important items in this speech to respect
This is what we need. God's children to be more kind, loving and cooperative with one another.
Thank you president Nelson
I don't think Jesus would have had to "read" a speech. His constant looking down is a bit distracting. Kudos to the intern that wrote his words.
I sincerely doubt it was an intern who wrote his words....This man is amazing... an outstanding surgeon, a teacher, 94 years old - look no glasses| He speaks the truth. Give him a chance. Listen to his words. He can build everyone up. He is a true prophet of God and everyone can come closer to God by listening to his words. He brings the peace of Jesus Christ to the whole world.
he is not Jesus and doesn't claim to be. he writes his own talks and speeches.
I'm a Mormon and my bishop won't talk to me. Or bishophric. Bad me. Good them.
Approach your stake president but do so in the right spirit.
hetrogamr84 That’s awful, hetro, so very sorry. If possible, don’t give up, go see the Stake President and tell him what’s going on as Matty suggests. We love you for reals; try not to let this alienate you. Hats off to you. 💛🤗
I went to my stake Prez. Its a good thing. :)
Bishops very busy in service

since day one, if you would have done your homework you would have known this. blacks worshiped alongside whites and even received the priesthood while all other christian churches were segregated into the 60s and 70s. humans are flawed and make mistakes, hopefully you wont be judged as harshly as you seem to judge others.
Nice
Great speech but why always the digs at the President? So many church leaders act like it's a sin to support the President while being a church member, I'm really tired of it
I can't imagine a church leader being opposed to the support of the President. Could you share an example?
