First, I'd like to give my condolences to those who were affected by the major shooting here shortly after this was filmed. It's sad how so many horrid events are happening lately at big places like the Mall of America.
Second, I'd like to wish a Merry Christmas to those who celebrate!
For those who don't know, The Mall of America has two main parking ramps with 4 Otis elevators each. These elevators have been beat up and worn out over the years, but they still get the job done. They are known to be very glitchy, make odd noises and do weird things, especially in extreme cold temperatures. So, when I saw that we were getting Arctic air this week, I thought it would be fun to ride all 8 of these elevators and see how bad they gotten in the cold. This was probably a stupid idea, since it was -26 degrees (F) with the windchill, but I did it anyway! I'm sorry if this isn't my best video work, but I was more focused on staying warm than riding the elevators!
I hope you all enjoy this different type of video, and let me know what you think! I'll let you judge the quality of these elevators....especially the last one seen in this video.

Also, I do wanna point out that I was probably riding the last elevator in this video for a bit too long, but it was fascinating to see what it was doing! (One other thing...sorry about if the lighting seems odd. Something seemed to go wrong when I exported the video)

WoW1 I have not been to the MOA in a longtime! except, last year for a funeral in ND, on our way back we went to one of the main stores where they have a restaurant on top floor! I am still wondering who, the server was, she looked so much like the same person I know here in My puny lil town in Iowa...
I know the Elevators in the Garage are old, but just go out side and look in to the Pit! it has me, thinking of better ways to make elevators safer, if I can come up with something.
also, that is not new with that elevator that stops in the middle of 1 and 2!
BTW: if you want to film some possibly old elevators in operation... try the U of M Dorms! the big tower of red bricks! Though, I am not sure if the elevators have been redone. the last time I rode them was around 1995!
The elevators could be getting too warm in a part of the shaft, that is why they are on. they may be on Auto! cold weather might keep them cool but, Hydrophilic fluid and etc. also can become warm/Hot! it is a safety Item!
I've always found it odd they built these exposed to the elements. And the shooting was so sad... but it's out of control. I was shot in the skywalk up here on Tuesday. I'm fine but still shook. I've also been held up at gunpoint twice. I don't know the solution but we'd better find one.

@@Skivator Just grazed but yeah... in the skywalk between transit ctr. & Wells Fargo. Started the week w/ burglary & car vandalism and ended waking up yesterday to find my bank acct. emptied by fraud... Ha! Hell of a week with the nice shooting in the middle. So... Happy New Week!

Can you please go to the Stewart Internatioal Airport in Newburgh New York? I saw elevators there and I rode it many years ago, I couldn't remember if it was a Schindler MT or Schindler RT.
Also, are these Otis series 2 and when were they installed?
