Vibraslaps - Summer Lovers (1985)

This jangle pop track comes from female New Zealand band Vibraslaps's self-titled mini-album released on the collectable Flying Nun Records in 1985. This album has become one of my favourite Flying Nun records and perhaps is overshadowed by other notable Flying Nun acts such as The Chills and The Bats. On this record, the band offer a naive mix of garage-y post-punk and folk-influenced jangle pop typified by loose and hypnotic almost Kraut-influenced drum grooves and dreamy chorus-inflected guitars. This track, however, is one of the more stripped-down numbers on Side 2.
