Too expensive, and for me, FOV is king! I don’t get why they won’t release a successor to the Pimax 8KX, especially when so many are asking for it. While the resolution of my Quest Pro isn’t the best, it’s fine for me. I’d much rather have a VR headset with a FOV of 150+ and the same sharpness as my Quest Pro, rather than the sharpest picture on a small screen.
A bit dodgy showing the Crystal as a PCVR headset, and then comparing it with Quest 3 with a standalone game. Why wouldn't you show the quest 3 playing the same pcvr game?

untill we have those 4K VR screens with the best posible lenses in a bigscreen beyond form factor and a GPU that can do stable 120fps in all the new racing sims at that res I will be on triple screens, I give it another 10 years.

How would you compare it to PSVR2? Right now at Argos PSVR2 is for £340 and the PC adapter is £50, so that is in total of £390. How much better is pimax? is the price difference give that much better experience?
O have the PSVR2, bought it for the PS5, and quite happy with it for that, particular considering thf price point. Tried it mt pc running a 2070, and the 2070 craps it self trying to rub sim racing on it. I wish PSVR2 had better lenses and much better PC support, and it would be an absolute winner for sim racing
In the Steam settings you can reduce the vertical field of view which then frees up resources if your PC is of a lower spec. Gives you a letter box style of view which is similar to wearing a helmet and anyway most people when driving are not looking at their legs or the sky. I find my PSVR2 is not as good as my Q3 for sim racing as the image is just not sharp enough and you have the mura too.

@@sprocket5526 I have just a 3060ti at the moment. In the Oculus debug tool I reduce the vertical field of view down to 40% and it makes quite a difference to my frame rate. In Steam you can go down to 50% only. Obviously, cuts some of the sky and your legs but it’s worth it for the extra FPS.
i happy with my quest 3 for now until i dont have 5090 i will not even think about it and in quest 3 no screendoor soo it worth for uts price. Pimax should prove that they improved QA !

Surely even a 4090 or 5090 won't be able to run a Pimax Super to its full use? Two 4K panels per eye is like running an 8K output BUT with double the game resources (compared to a non-VR 8K game) since each eye gets a differently rendered image to produce the 3D effect, no?
I decided to purchase a Crystal Light partly based on the content from your channel. The clarity is awesome… until you move your eyes. The peripheral clarity is terrible and quickly caused motion sickness for me. The sweet spot is tiny. The UA-cam reviewers seem to be getting a different set of lenses compared to buyers. The UA-camrs are either receiving cherry picked headsets or the good reviews are paid for by Pimax. I did several back to back comparisons with a Quest 3 and the Q3 beats the PCL in every category except resolution. The clip you showed from the Q3 is a game running on the headset not pcvr via the link cable which is very misleading. Check the Pimax subreddit before you buy.
This doesn't sound good - do you mean moving your eyes like foveated rendering, or moving your head in the headset? Let me know if you heard back from Pimax on this as maybe you had faulty lenses which I imagine are covered under warranty The Q3 footage is standalone as I was talking about the different levels of VR
@@Kireth thanks for the response. I would compare the lenses to that of a Quest 2. The PCL had an amazing sweet spot with blurred peripheral vision outside of the sweet spot. Checking a mirror was impossible without turning my head to focus the sweet spot on the mirror. I spent much of the weekend tweaking settings but the issue couldn’t be improved with software. I’ll be returning the PCL, keeping my Q3 and waiting on the Valve Deckard.
Not convinced even the 5090 would have the power to run the super at native resolution, l have a crystal and still have to compromise on settings and resolution even with a 4090. Hopefully l.wrong.
VR will always be more immersive and have the wow factor. With that said and owning both vr and a triple screen setup...I will probably never switch to vr full time and get rid of the triple as it is so much more comfortable and convenient for long sessions of practice and long races. Specially when I look at those gigantic VR headsets yes the visuals are impressive but after 1-2h of this on my head I need to take it off.

If I had to choose between driving a gutted honda with no power steering or AC or a modern car with AC ventilated seats and all the bells and whistles...I would choose the newer more "comfortable" car. I am not here to beat any world record it's just a hobby. Maybe I am just getting old but there is no point in making yourself uncomfortable if you can achieve the same results. Ask Max Verstappen...Guess what he uses triples and I think he also can do pretty good in the "real thing".

Have a 3080ti and Reverb G2. Actively looking for a replacement VR headset. Current plan is to upgrade GPU with a 5090 when available, then look at headsets. Pimax Super could fit the bill. Using SC2, Qubic systems 3DOF motion, Heusenkveld pedals, so have made a pact with the devil re expense. Impatience is getting to me now! IRacing is sole focus.
From everything I've heard/read, the QC on consumer Pimax units is garbage. So would NEVER even consider them. No point in being a great concept if the actual products are pants.

About 30 years ago I bought different electrical items from a certain company, and they were actually great in terms of their performance....except they only lasted a few months. Even today, after 3 DECADES, I would NEVER touch one of their products. Trust, once lost, cannot be regained.
Resolution is impressive but is a 4090 enough to get a smooth frame rate. Currently with the crystal the motion reproduction feels a bit like an afterthought. They really need to up their game in that area for their new headset to be a viable option in the sim racing community with the currently available PC racing sims. Software is where up to now they have failed miserably, look at the standalone OS of the pimax crystal. It's basically abandoned. Does anyone actually use the standalone mode on the original crystal. Hope they do decide to put more effort behind the software development side of things.
QUESTION: I hear almost everyone gets motion sickness from GT7! I had a headache for 4 hrs and needed to lay down. I read all the """tricks'""" like """"keep playing """ short sessions with brightness all the way down... but does it actually work???
Thats not true, maybe when they first got it. You have to understand that a lot of people only play it ever now and then. Anyone who play it actively, have no issues whatsoever
GT7 is reprojected so every other frame is artificially created which gives rise to artifacts such as ghosting and blur. The PSVR2 also has a high persistence rate. Not a great headset for those that are sensitive or new to VR.

This was a very poor representation of the Quest 3 for PCVR Sim-Racing. I'm running 120Hz @ 5408x2912 and it looks nothing like what you showed in this video.
Agreed, the quest 3 here is not represented well in the video. I run it at highest resolution with the highest bitrate with quest link. 90hz, it looks great. Currently on a 4080 super. I used to run it on a 4060 mobile gpu and did run it on 72hz and still have loved it (not as sharp as its now with the 4080 super)But I am excited to try Pimax Super next year. Waiting for the 5000 series cards to release in order to upgrade
@@azharhirani Totally, I'm in the same boat, I'd be excited for higher-res options. I still see shimmering with MSAA 8X and enhance mode turned on in Nvidia config. Currently CPU-bound in iRacing with a 4090 at max res, so the new X3D chips and a higher-res headset would be perfect. I'd want wired for lightness and ease-of-use though, so maybe a Pimax Crystal Super-Light or a Quest 4 if those come out lol.

I have the Big Screen Beyond and it is the lightest VR headset in the world. The resolution is excellent but the glare is the only draw back. The Pimax is a BIG brick compare to BSB and that's a big no no for me. I'm very interested in this upcoming VR headset MeganeX superlight 8K which is suppose to be 8K and same size as BSB. I can't wait for more review on this headset.
btw the biggest issue that new pimax have very low FOV when human eyes have 220 😂 and its big issue you cant sens of speed without periphial vision 😢 so triplevis better choice but for me i have no space for triples 😢
100% true they don't use it. But this could be because the competitions don't allow it, or it's not comfortable for the amount of time they have to practice
What does esport drivers have to do with vr headsets? Not everyone is or wants to be a esport driver. People wants more immersion to the sim experience and vr can provide that.

honestly i can't tell pixels on bigscreen beyond at 2560x2560 per eye the whole 4k per screen thing is mostly marketing and unnecessary in my opinion.
In 2 or 3 years we will be there, definitly. Look at the evolution in Sim and VR in the last years..

You mention that it’s 72-90hz, this is not entirely correct. The QLED headset will be 100hz whilst the micro-OLED will be 90hz

Only client 1.14 works somewhat OK with smart smoothing and the og crystal with msfs at least. Still in the works to be fixed

Psvr2 is the best bc of the price of the value g7 vr keep on getting updates and upgrades
GT7 definitely doesn't keep getting VR updates, but they are cutting the price aggressively

@@betrion7 I'm subbed to Kireth, and watch nearly all his content. One thing above all I can say for sure about his channel is that he is HONEST.
I think that Pimax leave much to be desired, from everything I've heard, but I've NEVER come across anything on Kireth's channel where I think he is being less than completely honest. In terms of impartiality, and integrity, in the sim racing community, I rank him alongside Karl Gosling.
SO sony helps to manufacture lenses for pimax, but themselves using some garbage instead ?? #makeitmakesense

Is this a subscription or is it financing - they are two different things. Subscription is for as long as you want to use it, with finance, once youve paid it off, you can still use it
