    1:41 Flying at night and near a large group of people. Did you get a waiver for night operations near people?

    • @Max-Kuz

      Since I followed all normal rules, I did not need a waiver. I did not actually fly over people, only over buildings in the surrounding area

    ACTUALLY, you legally can't use the footage from RECREATIONAL flights later for commercial purposes. Many people have been fined for that. Also, you flew and captured the footage with COMMERCIAL purposes in mind. That being said, i completely agree with everything else, definitely practice, and learn your equipment diligently. That way you can focus on "the shot" when it's time to fly..😊

    • @Max-Kuz
      @Max-Kuz  12 днів тому

      Really? I’ve never heard anywhere else that you can’t use recreational footage for commercial purposes. Especially with stuff like stock photography.
      I will have to dig a little deeper and follow up. I’ll add some links to the FAA website once I find them, but if you know where to look, leave a link down below.
      I appreciate the comment my friend

      @@Max-Kuz I believe stock photography was taken with the intent of exchange for money at its core. But I did find a forum stating that if you obtain footage from a recreational flyer and sell it, it’s ok. There are also videos of people posting video that they took prior to having 107, that they got fined for. So it’s really a grey area all around.

    Careful. If you go and ask your friend to take pictures of their house for your "portfolio", that implies you are flying your drone for something besides pure fun. This is against the rules and not good advice for people going for the Part 107. Just fly for fun only until you get your license, and learn how to get quality shots without using it for the business. Better safe than sorry.

    • @Max-Kuz
      @Max-Kuz  6 місяців тому +1

      Very great point. Better safe than sorry. But if you do fly with the intent of learning and getting better, there is no reason you can’t use those photos 3 months later when you start flying part 107. It may be a gray area and might not be the best advice if it isn’t clear

    • @Joe-wk9ow
      @Joe-wk9ow 5 місяців тому +2

      @@Max-Kuz I agree with this. If the original intent is to have fun and then down the road after you get your p107 I see no problem with it. Either way it is a gray area and would avoid it at all cost. But there is nothing stopping you from getting shots of your own house.

    Law is law if your not on their property and aren't part of the college their is nothing they can do. They absolutely can't take your drone that is theft. Unless you break a law but a college doesn't make laws

    • @Max-Kuz
      @Max-Kuz  2 дні тому

      It was a weird situation. I believe there is a group of drone pilots who are going against that college because they have taken drones away and such. Unfortunately, I was on their property, but you are definitely right.

  • @Joe-wk9ow
    @Joe-wk9ow 5 місяців тому +2

    for college campus it looks like you were standing on their property. If you were on the other side of the street then I do not think they had a ground to stand on unless you break a FAA Rule like flying over people.

    • @Max-Kuz
      @Max-Kuz  5 місяців тому +1

      That’s what I thought. I was under the assumption that “no one ruled the air,” and that you could kind of fly anywhere.
      But I believe certain cities, campuses, venues, have certain rules and ordinances when it comes to drones for safety concerns.
      I would only be cautious if it is a city rule. It’s a little iffy with the campus’s, but I didn’t wanna take a chance

      A few years ago, you needed to apply for waivers. Nowadays, as long as you are following general airspace rules, you should not need a waiver.
      It’s important to note that I didn’t fly directly over the crowds.

      @@Max-Kuz you can’t bundle drones in together and make generalisations like that. Not all drones are DJI drones and the law does not differentiate between a DJI drone or similar and an FPV drone or homebuilt drone. For the most part the only classification is weight. You could build your own drone from scratch and would just have to follow the exact same rules as people who bought one.
      Here in the UK it is only drones under 250g that can go near people (again not over crowds) for heavier drones you need to keep a certain distance from people and property. There are some extra licenses you can get to let you fly closer but most people don’t bother.

    • @Max-Kuz
      @Max-Kuz  5 місяців тому

      @@conorstewart2214 what generalization? Sure all drones must follow the same laws, but depending on how they are built, they are allowed to be in different spaces.
      I personally fly dji drones. With those you cannot fly directly over crowds, but you can fly around them. But, if your drone is under 249g and does not have open propellers, I believe you can fly over crowds, although I’d have to double check.
      Just an example of different drones following different laws.

      Really? Do you have a link to the law that explains this?
      I thought/believe that the law says you cannot use footage for a business purpose without your license. If you don’t have a license and don’t intend to use it for a business, then 3 years later you do have a license, I don’t see why you can’t use that footage. Would love to see a link that supports your claims though

      www.faa.gov/faq/how-do-i-fly-uas-or-drone-work-or-business-purposes
      Here’s the link I’m basing my thesis on. If you are performing a commercial flight, you need a license. But if it’s not a commercial flight, I don’t see why you couldn’t use that footage later on.
      Another interesting question. What happens to my posted footage when my license expires? Does that mean I can’t make money on that previous footage? Obviously you still could, because the flight was conducted properly

    Well done, but with all due respect u dont start a drone business when u dont know anything about drones, never flew and expect that commercial license will teach u everything, start a drone business when u have been shooting for years on a drone, broke several drones and learned from ur mistakes and moved on and then realized u r ready to SERVE customers (even get paid immediately Not for free) top notch ! And not taking chances with customers or Trying while ur shooting in their field, because it will give sub-satisfactory results.
    I did that when i wanted to sell pokemon cards when i was in high school, or any other business that i wasn't so serious about, not for a Drone business which demands lots of practice, creativity, and attention to details, its not even a business and ur not just a drone pilot, ur an artist orchestrating your flight and your presense with the client and thats more than just a guy who can fly a drone !...

    • @Max-Kuz
      @Max-Kuz  4 місяці тому

      Wonderful perspective. I couldn’t disagree more! But that’s the great part about an open platform like this where we can all share our thoughts and opinions.
      Preface: I did fly for over a year, had and crashed 1 previous drone before getting my Part 107.
      That being said, if you wait for years into your droning, you are waiting wayyyyy too long. If you have a unique skill that would benefit and “serve” others, just because you aren’t the best at it doesn’t mean you don’t have a unique value proposition. Lots of people need basic drone work and aren’t willing to pay luxury prices.
      And I’m curious how it is where you are from, but in the US, tons of photographers and videographers have drones who are not trying to be aerial artists. They are trying to get a job done and that’s who you have to compete against.
      Just some thoughts. I’m glad we can have our own opinions and have conversations about it!
