  • I wanted to share my secret sauce for how to get rid of lice fast!! I use a chemical and natural based approach for instantly killing head lice and the ongoing treatment there after to ultimately rid lice and keep a large infestation from reoccurring and happening badly again! I know how stressful it feels for your children to catch lice and/or yourself so I wanted to share the methods that have greatly changed how I deal with lice in my home to help put other mother's and people at ease. Just remember this happens to sooo many families so don't feel ashamed and since you found this video I know you will be informed and armed to handle it and feel confident about ridding the lice if it reoccurs again in the future!
Something I left out is also if you know you or you child was around others while having lice, PLEASE Inform the schools and those people so they can keep a minor issue from turning into a big issue for themselves and their family. #killlicefast #licetreatment #momlikely

My boyfriend was asked by his sister to shave his 9 yr old niece’s head because they were tired of the repeated lice problem. I offered to treat her hair so she didn’t have to get it shaved. OMG I am 43 & this is my first time dealing with lice. What a production! Thanks so much for your video!!! Life saver. 💯❤

Daily washing (Suave Coconut Oil shampoo because lice don't like coconut) and a Rid kit at least once, and then daily blow drying right onto dry hair on the highest heat setting your kid can stand will wipe out the problem for good. I had to treat my elderly mother, and her two great-grandchildren (my sister's grandkids who gave it to my Mom). Those kids had been battling it off and on for two years and I wiped it out in less than a week with this method in all of them. The heat from the hair dryer destroys nits so they die and can not hatch and when you turn hair dryer on the live ones go on the RUN and you can easily get them with a nit comb. I have really long hair but I'm also very tall so I worried about getting them myself but I never did. I also washed their bedding/jackets on HOT water and then dried them in the dryer for a good LONG time so the heat would kill them. They've been lice free now for five years. I'm their guardian now after my sister died so I still do periodically check their heads but it's all good :) Blow dryer, blow dryer, blow dryer. I also had everyone in the house for one week do daily blow drying on our dry hair enough to heat up the head and scalp just to make sure it didn't spread. Lice like to hide around ears and back of head near neck too I found so don't forget to blow dry those areas. It's uncomfortable for sure but it works.

@@Mariekr49heat is the only thing that kills lice eggs, however I’ve used a blow dryer daily for months and doesn’t seem to help. Maybe a straightener would help. It would have to be over 130 degrees Fahrenheit though to actually kill the eggs.

I used Pronto foam head lice meds that killed active bug's then mixed baking soda and vinegar with shampoo. It killed and dissolved the glue that held the nats to the hair strand. I used the comb that came with the Pronto foam. I was getting the dead bugs and nats. I combed for about an hour. Then my grandson used a blow dryer. He is 15 this was his first time ever getting lice. He got it from a friend of his.
I ended up getting it also. I used the same method as I described above..
I bagged up all blankets and pillows. He hasn't slept in his room for two day's. We will be using the sticky roller. So far everything seems to be back to normal. Thank God!! I'm 67 with headlice OMG 😱😱😱 never thought about that at all.

Lice can live up to two days before dying.
Lice also becoming immune to the otc head lice kits. They have come out with a super lice kit. It also includes a small can of spray for furniture. Also when vacuuming, you will want to empty the canister into a garbage bag and seal it up or take the bag out and throw it away and get rid of the garbage bag immediately don’t leave it in the house. You can bag up stuffed animals, pillows etc in a garbage bag and tie it so the bugs can’t get out and leave items in the bag until you wash them or at least two weeks is what is recommended. You can verify all this information with a professional. Wash bedding, clothes, and anything that is washable in hot water and laundry soap and dry them on high heat for at half an hour even if they dry faster. Make sure everything is completely dry. I use cedarwood essential oil and tea tree Essential oil mixed with 1 part 6% vinegar & 2 to 3 parts water and a few drops of Dawn dish soap and at least 10 drops of each essential mixed in, of which I use those two and lemongrass eso, peppermint eso, lavender eso, clove eso and eucalyptus eso to the bottle and I shake it up good to mix the soap with the oils so that will mix with the vinegar and water and I use it as a spray for pest control in general. It won’t kill anything in a shell like a larvae pupa shell or not eggs but it will kill everything else at other stages. It works as a deterrent as well as a natural pesticide for more than just lice. It’s also safe for pets and kids and adults but do try not to spray it while they are nearby as it can cause skin irritation for people who are sensitive and you don’t want it in anyone’s eyes or lungs including pets. I have used certain essential oils on my skin and on my dog but what’s safe for us is not always safe for dogs or cats and even between different animals there can be different reactions and you don’t want them to like it off for the same reason. Check vet websites and double check which essential oils are safe for use on your animals. I’ve sprayed my curtains , my carpet, floors, around doorways, corners, cracks, crevices window and sliding door tracks, in kitchen cabinets that were empty and so. Even on my ceilings with popcorn finish because meal moth larvae like to form and go into there pupa shell in the ceiling crevices or cracks.
Just adding from my own extensive research as well personal use and experience. Good luck to anyone who has to deal with lice, or any other kind of pest infestation. Some are harder to deal with and get rid than others. And it’s time consuming, takes your energy and everyone else who lives in the home and it doesn’t matter how much or how often you clean. Anyone, even the most sanitized homes can easily get an infestation. So dont pass judgment if you’ve never had to deal any of them. Just count your lucky, very lucky.

I've used Vaseline in my 4a hair, the texture and curliness, plus the shampoo, also tea tree oil & peppermint oil has helped mine and my daughter's hair. The Vaseline smothers the bugs, and helps the nits to slide out easier, without pulling all my hair out.
Thank you for letting everyone know it's not a "dirty person," thing... My daughter was extremely scared she's going to be looked at as if she were a dirty child. Staying calm, and perseverance throughout this time is the best advice. 🎉🎉❤ Thank you, 😊 for just making a video with experience and explanations for all of us mom's going through this alone. My daughter got one or two problems during her childhood I forgot everything about the treatment except the horror, panic and my niece who, together with her nanny was the original source and whose mother refused to go through the same horrific process of total illumination of the infestation. My sister insisted it was a matter of me wanting to exclude her from my life. It was a horrendous part of my life.
A different episode was when my mummy was dying and I just hugged her, put my head in her lap wept and thought within my heart that I will never again have someone to love me enough to rid me of a lice infestation. See you soon mummy

So I was telling Shawna this morning is that we used the old school brown Listerine in a spray bottle. My children are also mixed and have different textures. My husband has dreadlocks and we used this on him as a preventative measure. So what you do is saturate the hair with brown listerine. Then wrap the hair a plastic bag (like a tshirt bag). Then use a hairdryer on the plastic bag for 15 to 20 mins so the hair inside the bag gets hot. Times vary depending on what your child can handle heat wise. Then you leave it on as long as possible. I had my kids sleep in the plastic bag (or maybe try a shower cap). The next morning we washed hair and used a hair mask. The bugs and eggs just slide off. We repeated this process 5 to 7 days later. To make sure we got them all. I hope I explained this okay. Hope this helps someone else. 😁

The year my kids got it, my washer AND dryer broke! It was HORRIBLE. I would treat them and give the follow-up treatment and a week later they were itching again. It got to the point that when they scratched I automatically gave a lice treatment, even if I couldn't see anything. My friend had to snap some sense into me and tell me that we now had dry skin from over-treating and that's why the kids were now scratching. To this day I have at least six lice shampoo bottles in my bathroom cabinet "just in case".

I had a an imaginary lice scratching episode several months ago that triggered a manic chemical hysterical shampooing session. A few hours later my face blew up into a small red pumpkin, my voice began to sound hoarse and I was on the verge of a life-threatening angioneurotic edema that had to be treated in emergence. If I do get real live LICE now I won’t be able to do anything about it any more.

Thank you so much for this video. My daughter is 10 and just got lice from school back in October, we did the lice killing treatment and did all the laundry and such and have been using the preventative shampoo daily and all the things but I didn’t know we needed to do a second treatment a week later nor did I know about the ACV treatment. My daughter’s school nurse told me we would be all set after that one treatment and laundry and such. Well last week over Christmas vacation while she was with her bio dad they noticed she had lice again and they did a lice killing treatment on her and that’s when her dad showed me the box he got that said a second treatment must be done in 7-10 days after the first one. I also called her pediatrician this time and they also confirmed to do a second treatment. Her dad told me when he did the combing her found A LOT of bugs and eggs. The time in October I didn’t find too much but there definitely were some at that time.
Your video is so informative and helpful and has eased my stress about it a bit. I’m going to be doing her second treatment in the next day or two and then will be following your instructions to do the ACV treatment and the heat from the hair dryer as well and also all the combing. I want to make sure we get them all this time. I always have added tea tree oil to our shampoos but I think I will now also add peppermint as well and add both to our conditioners and detangler spray.
Also another thing you should have mentioned is to boil hair brushes and combs in hot water for at least 10-20 minutes and/or spray them with the house/furniture spray that kills lice. Also another thing is to either throw away hair ties and replace with new ones or spray with the lice killing furniture spray and then put them in a ziplock bag for a day or two.

My grandkids all got head lice at the same time. I found out the over the counter stuff didn’t work so I came up with my own way to get rid of them and fast. First I got the fine tooth lice comb and combed as many lice out of the hair a section at at time. Then I tried to get as many eggs or bits off the shaft of the hair. Then I took a cheap hair conditioner and lathered down the whole head using quite a lot of the conditioner. Then I put a plastic shower cap on the head and left it for 24-36 hours smothering the lice. When you decide when you want to take the shower cap off (can leave it as long as you want making sure the eggs are dead too) you wash out all the conditioner and comb the hair in sections looking for dead or live lice and eggs. Combing all the hair and getting dead’s ones all out and not finding any more wash hair as usual with shampoo and condition hair as usual. In 24 hours check head for any live lice and look for eggs they usually are attached to the hair somewhere. If there is no live ones check again in a few days until you are sure no eggs hatch, if they do and you find some more lice repeat process. In the mean time in the beginning you have to strip bedding, all of it and wash in washing machine and dry all. Pillows either washed and dried or just put in the dryer for 15-20 minutes to kill any lice or eggs. Any towels when washing and drying hair should be washed and dried as well right away, put them in plastic throw away bag after using them and take to washing machine, don’t lay them on counter or floor. Wash all combs etc that you used and clean counters and floor after you are done. When you take shower cap off and you make sure all lice and eggs are gone just to be sure you can wear a shower cap to bed for a week or so to avoid having to wash and dry all the bedding again.

I watched your video last week when my daughters pediatrician told us my daughter had lice! OMG talk about a panic attack at that point. I went and got the lice treatment kit Rid that has the household spray to spray on the furniture etc. I washed everything I could bedding, clothes, vacuumed everything, cleaned everything I could see. Bagged up stuffed animals etc I literally went crazy I was a mess! Ive been combing her hair with the lice comb that came with the box and I still have never found anything not even eggs (at least I don't think I have) but I still have been checking daily. Tonight I thought I would comb through my hair because it has been itching mildly but more than usual. And to my blind eyes I thought I was seeing things and I had to look for a minute or two and a bug was crawling on my hair!!!!!! The hair that I had combed out already which falls into the sink. I fell apart still even now I am crying my eyes out like it's literally the end of the world. Seriously ready to shave my hair! I saw a total of 2 bugs that came out OF MY HAIR!! I still can't believe it my stomach is in knots! Its 11:00 at night and I can't even sleep and scared to even sit on my couch let alone lay in my bed. You can just throw your bedding in the dryer cycle for 30 mins on hot and shampoo all the heads in the household. Don’t forget you boil your brushes or freeze them for a couple days and clean them out. In another week do any shampoo and comb once a week or so while you do the treatment. Make sure to comb in sections. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

The second time most of the other were gone. My mom went through my hair for me and she got all the eggs that were left. But i know the hot hot water won't be ideal for a young child. • @MomLikely
      @MomLikely  6 місяців тому

The problem will be the eggs. You will have to use the live killing shampoo each week so when eggs hatch they don’t relay new eggs. You don’t wanna lose your hair though because the shampoo is not good for your hair like that. You could try dying your hair and then sitting under a heated dryer but eggs are resilient it’s worth a try to not shave it. Otherwise you will have to take it out , remove the eggs and relock your hair

You definitely got to try this. It's not going away because all the eggs aren't coming out. give her the lice killing shampoo treatment, get rid of all the active bugs, then cut her hair in the apple cider vinegar and let us down there until it dries or for at least half hour, then put some conditioner in the hair a little bit at a time I'm like each little strip that you're going to comb because the apple cider vinegar he's going to help loosen up the eggs so that way when you call them out they come out better and you'll leave a lot less behind. also in the description of this video there's additional videos on how to actually come the eggs out so make sure you watch those cuz they're really helpful.

So that was basically the only way she could have gotten them. (Not to mention I’m extremely terrified of bugs , spiders etc) I was extremely upset especially since this was the first time he has even bothered to show up and visit in over 3 years to see. When she got back she would itch a little I would look and I never seen anything I think I honestly didn’t know what to look for or maybe they were too small idk. So when I finally found them i was googling etc. I felt like such a terrible mom for letting her go, upset , angry at myself etc. just a ball of emotions I’m also very pregnant so the emotions got the best of me. I stepped away to cry so I wouldn’t scare her collected myself and told her it’ll be okay. I did a coconut oil treatment while waiting for the shampoo to get delivered and my best friend helped brush all the little eggs and nits out. Well we tried to get absolutely everything. I just straightened her hair as close to the scalp as I could.. but will try the apple cider vinegar tomorrow. I’m just hoping the other two kiddos don’t get it either. I’ve been washing bedding every morning , vacuuming everything & stress cleaning.

If you have other kids I would just use the shampoo immediately on them as well. That way if any big got over to them it doesn't start laying eggs alot before you take notice. I’m trying this method that is suggested . Currently sitting with nit shampoo on with a hair cap and I can feel the nits move it’s driving me insane . Wonder if it’s them dying .
Will try the asv after I wash it out . Fingers crossed

Yes and then you need to comb as well after to remove the dead bugs and eggs.
Make sure you section the hair from back to front 1-2 inch section and use the nit comb close to scalp. Good luck! That shampoo will actually kill the bugs but not the eggs so they need removed. The acv will help get more of them off your hair strands, that way those eggs left behind don’t hatch and reinfest

Can you afford going to a clinic to remove the eggs?

For the tangling spray how you make that? Do you put water in it? Can you put tea tree oil or peppermint oil in the shampoo? What about conditioner?

Yea the oils can go in all the hair care stuff. you can mix conditioner and water as detangling spray or you can just buy some and add tea tree oil to it
