Sorry for your loss. You have a great gift in your hands. This is a "gamer's game" that you can't find in stores. It stokes curiosity and relies on communication and teamwork to be successful. Learn to play and you'll have many hours of stories unfold at your table. And FWIW, if he backed Unsettled I'm willing to bet you'll have some other great games show up at some point too
You know that time when this is the most anticipated game of 2021 and then they drop a video and it makes you go OMG I NEED THIS YESTERDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Never has a How to Play video got me so excited about a game before. Watched it after reading the rule book and it definitely clarified a few things. I feel like I am gonna die quite a lot to start. So happy I went ALL IN :D
What’s the song? It sounds so beautiful and it somewhat reminds me of the final zone in the last FF14 expansion…it’s giving me the feels all over again.
Seriously you guys did an awesome job on this video. It was such a precise breakdown of the game with great close up camera work. The “Setup” was so clear. A real professional job and a joy to watch and I’m only 6 minutes in. Well done! Now back to the video. ;)
I love this. I love you. I love that all of us are here to be part of this great project. Great camera position for that "Hey, Listen" moment and keep rocking those jazz hands. I mean, all the energy in this video is just superb. Orange Nebula, you have seriously pushed the limits.
Great video. So much more enjoyable than reading a rulebook, however good it might be :D Question : how many takes did you do to get that "3 data" Lacey ?
@@Muageto We did two full takes of the sample turn. On the second run through she rolled a three. Thank God she couldn't use that extra data to power up the tractor beam...
Having finally gotten my copy, I really really hope other publishers/designers take note of this box/tray design. I don't think I've ever expereinced a default component quite like it, and give that people (read: I) spend upwards of 40% more on 3rd party components to organize my favorite games, I'd excitedly give the actual creators half that for something this nice.
you ever have expectations for how you'll feel after watching a video, only to have them blown away by the sheer force of AWESOME that has just struck you? kudos, O-Neb. kudos.
Mine finally came in the mail so I attempted to play it over the weekend. Learning board games is a skill I do not have. Hurray for "how to play" videos.
That game has so much going on… I forget the rules from one game to the next one in months, so I come here to see yogur video over and over. I think This is the “hoy to play” video I rewatch most and every time I have a good time watching, you guys seems nice and funny people. And this evening is the next KS, can’t wait to back it and come here some months from now on to refresh rules 😁
Love the details and smoothness of this video. We've played the game multiple times, but I came back here to see if there was anything I missed or we were maybe doing wrong. Great quality on this! Realized we were doing distress wrong as we played that if a player could only gain 3 distress max, and gaining a 4th would cause the endurance loss. Fortunately we never reached that point, but good to know it's different from what we would have done lol.
I feel like I might be learning to play my new favourite board game. 😍 Honestly it looks incredible and this is a brilliant vid! 👌🏼👏🏼🙌🏼 Can’t wait for my copy to arrive! 📦
It just turned up today… I could not be more excited for this one. The unboxing alone blew me away. You guys, once again, have absolutely smashed it! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 #fanboy #seeyouattheoutpost ⛳️🛖🌎🌒
I should add that the beauty of this game and the delight at seeing it finally out was the main thing I experienced. It's a well-done video, one of the best in outlining a game. And what I couldn't hear, I can discover in the rulebook.
I went all in and have more than 1 full pack of sleeves left, both sizes. My only "complaint" so far is fitting all the tokens in the planet boxes with sleeved cards. With the variance of tokens in each planet some don't seem to fit "properly" and just have a few tokens extra on top of the tile cards- does this sound right? Can't wait to play.
Just got the game through the second kickstarter. This is a great tutorial. You guys looked to be having alot of fun with it. Makes it much easier to get through in one go.
Hello sorry I think some rules still not very clear to me. If each player only gets a deck of 3 distress cards, how will you ever get to 5 or 6 distresses....can you elaborate a bit further? In addition, are there any limits on how many breakthrough or "specimens" you can carry (that resolves following an opportunity) or you can only keep one?
Great questions! You add 3 distress to the distress deck for each player. (6 distress in a 2p game, 9 distress in a 3p game). There is one distress deck that all players share. The number of breakthroughs you have is limited by the number of comprehension slots you have. The number of discoveries is unlimited. Hope this helps!
@@OrangeNebula It is an awesome game I think the designer does put a lot of effort and thoughts into it. Keep it up! always looking forward to new stuff you guys will have!

Thank you very much. One question: What about the order of play? Does each player have to play one after the other or can a player make double turns. If not, can the order of each round be varied or is it permanent? Thanks for the feedback!
It's really frustrating when game tutorials go into minute detail of all the components of the game without showing them in action. So by the time the viewer gets to actually see the game in action, we're supposed to remember what ALL of the components do. I hate this so much. It would be nice if videos first gave the overall concept of what the players' goal is, which you did...interspersed among a bunch of other content. Then show set up. Then show game play that depicts using components of the game as they are needed. Shooting a fire hose at us of all the ancillary component actions first is just overwhelming. I'm 17 minutes in and I still don't know how the game works. You don't even talk about Movement, a primary, fundamental part of the game, until 20 minutes in. You explain things like distress, which are results of movement, BEFORE you explain movement and game play. Your core Rules booklet is 27 pages long. And it's not possible to follow the video and the Rules at the same time, as both hop all over the place; they don't compliment each each other. I have three planets and would HAPPILY buy all new planets that come out, but at this rate, trying to learn the game just sucks. Come on guys, you can do better.
When taking the Investigate action, a colored "Moment Marker" is placed on that map node to indicate that there is an Opportunity/Discovery there. A Discovery remains on its Opportunity card until someone on the same map node as the Opportunity performs the necessary action to acquire it. However, there can only be two active Opportunities at once, so if we had investigated a third, the first Opportunity we found would be abandoned. Hope this helps!
So... I heard nothing about coming back from unconsciousness. Does this mean you can't? So conscious teammates have to drag the unconscious ones back to the Scarab in order to win? Also, although your explanation of how to play was very good, it sounds like I need to have a PhD in order to play this game. One more thing... I watched the previous teach/how to play video from a year ago, and looks like before you didn't have to rest on your turn. Now you have to use one of your cubes to rest every turn? That seems like a big change and a big loss of player choice. Why the change?
Indeed. There is currently no way to return from unconsciousness. If you play with the optional Scarab ability that restores an endurance to a player you could delay it though. Also your friends do not "need" to carry your body back to win, it's still a mixed success if some of the explorers make it off the planet. If choice is something you are concerned about protecting than never fear. The choice of where to place your focus die is only one of the many decision considerations you will make every turn. Right now while using 2 aspects of your focus, the other is 'recharging' so to speak. In regards to the PhD requirement, astrophysics is a great start. Any experience in astrobiology or aberrant cosmology would be a big plus. For real though, in our teach and play video last year you can see Lindy, someone who rarely ever plays board games, figure it out. Since then we have played several home games together and now she has a confident handle on the mechanics. I've even seen Facebook posts of people subjecting their 12 year old kids to our cosmic death traps and surviving. Best of luck not perishing.
Video helped a lot. Some feedback though: The constant music in the back ground was very distracting and actually annoying to the ears. Everyone here in the room is cringing from the music. Maybe if you're going to have 'theme' music turn it down just a smidge so it's not overriding your dialogue!
Lol I’m reading the comments and “RedTheCrimson” says “Love the music, where can I get it”? Personally I didn’t even notice there was music in the background. Lol I guess everyone is different!
