Thank you so much for watching this video, I do hope you enjoyed it.
Minute 8.28- I just love the picture of cars stopping for mama cat carrying her baby across the street. It melted my heart.
I thoroughly enjoyed looking at these old photos. Please do this again. Soon.
Thank you. Tez
I learnt some VERY DEFINITELY INTERESTING new facts.. about the Statue of Liberty for example.. and window tappers and spirit photography! Love the "first photos," especially the *"terriying man"* at 12:48.. 😱😆 How cool is he! Thanks, Tez.. 👍👏
I can only imagine he had some sort of eye infection 😆 what a sight he was!🙈
Poor bugger! 👓🤭@@verynearlyinteresting
Poor man! 🙈
Thank you so much for these pictures. I look forward to seeing others. We are so lucky to live in a time where we don't have to guess what things looked like over 100 years ago.
Thank you … and you can be sure I’ll make others like it in the future as they really are fun to do. Thank you again, Tez
I love looking at old photographs. My favourite in this video was the photo of Vincent Van Gogh. I didn't even know that a photo of him existed!!!
I live in Hamilton, Ontario, and, luckily we've had several authors through the years who have published books of old photos of the city. I have a nice little collection of 7 such books. It's so much fun to see photos of stores, homes, music venues and live theatres (of which we actually had many), and businesses that no longer exist, and be able to place exactly where they used to be. My favourite is a photo of farmland intersected by a dirt road that is now one of the busiest intersections in the city.
We have a very big arts community in Hamilton, and many of our musicians and actors have achieved international success. The first was Florence Lawrence, the silent film star and the actress often called The First Movie Star. 😊🇨🇦
You’re like me then … I love to do that. I used to have a fabulous book about Leek in Staffordshire and I used to walk around comparing the scenes - but I lost the book and it’s not available anymore 🙈. Thanks for your comment - from one Terry to another Terri
Love Van Gogh. This picture made me happy 😊
@@andycristiana1043 Agreed! Seeing that picture really made my day. 😊
0:34 Back in 1876 Alexander Graham Bell could never have imagined what his invention would lead to!! ☎️📞📲 Truly VERY INTERESTING, Tez!
I’ll bet he wouldn’t have imagined we’d all have one in our pocket 😆 thanks @pimpozza Tez
I love old photos, thank you for this compilation. The horse running showed how a horse has all of its feet off of the ground at a certain point.
I think I read somewhere that until those photos were taken they couldn’t be sure if all feet were off the ground at the same time!
Another great video Tez, one of your best yet IMO, I too love old photographs, they provide a fascinating, if at times slightly eerie, glimpse into our past. More please!!!!
Hi Keith. That’s a good idea, I’ll definitely do another one at some point then. I’m glad you enjoyed it and, as always, thanks for your comment. Tez 😊
Loved watching this thanks. I really liked the range of content and contexts.
This was indeed very interesting..nearly...thanks, this was great!
🤣Thank you so much. Tez
Great video, thanks Tez
Glad you enjoyed it. Nice to hear from you as always, Tez
outstanding.... well done... love it
Thanks very much Brian, Tez
Love love love this video!
Thank you so much and I’m glad you enjoyed it. Tez
Great video! I really enjoyed the commentary that went along with the photos.
Oh thank you very much!! Tez 😊
Very interesting, thank you for sharing this in your distinct way. I think I would like your rendition of model train history. Jersey Bill
Thank you so much Jersey Bill … much appreciated. I don’t know much about model trains but I will give that some thought and put it on my list of future videos - thank you so much for that. Tez
Great photos Tez, it must of taken you ages to put all these pictures together and edit it. well done mate.
Thanks OTRA!!! :)
love these! Even the ones I've seen before..Please do this again....just wonderful. My kids are grown now, but I've shown them several of the famous ones in the past...honestly, I think two of my favorites have always been the Mama Cat, and the first Daguerrotype with a person in it. The first time I saw that man having his shoes shined I stared at it for a good hour, searching every detail. As a historian and photographer they are just fascinating. Please can you do one just of Blitz photographs? The inhabitants of London and the Royal Family were so brave and fierce it made me thrill. Just amazing~ even the stories of how hard people fought on the Jersey Isles under German occupation. Somehow the human spirit always wins, even under the worst circumstances! Thank you so much!
Very relaxing and interesting viewing.
Thanks Dan, Tez ;)
Thanks Mr vni-So great to see people’s faces from the past. You can imagine them living their lives, full of hopes and dreams like us. 🙏🏻
Yes it’s fascinating isn’t it!? How was Haworth?
@@verynearlyinteresting Aaw it was truly wonderful, thanks for asking. I’ve been to H a few times, as I’m from Yorkshire, but finally, I managed to go to the parsonage 🙏🏻😊I had to hold back tears when I saw ‘the table’…particularly when it said, ‘Emily wrote Wuthering Heights here.’ Didn’t go in Black Bull sadly🙃It really was Branwell’s local wasn’t it! 🍻
@@gaynorbrook837 I’m so pleased you got to go around the parsonage … and yes the Black Bull was definitely Branwell’s local (when he had the money or could find someone else to pay for his drinks 🙄). Tez
@@verynearlyinteresting Such difficult times for them all. But a legacy of great words📚
Great video.
Thanks Sharon, Tez :)
Fascinating. People really need to take a look at these photos. I can’t figure out why I don’t appear on film
Great content mate!
Thanks Peter, Tez
Brilliant stuff Tez. As a person with an interest in photography and History I found this video (forgive me ) Extremely interesting!
Hi John! Thanks so much as always for your lovely comment. I’m really pleased you found it interesting. Tez 😊
I’m always so excited when one of your videos drops! Thank you for this extremely interesting video. I shared it with my oldest son. We were amazed by a lot of these images. Thank you again for all the work you put into this channel! I wish I could send you the picture I took of the plaque of the crystal palace in Hamilton, Ontario. Maybe one day!
One of these days I’ll get an email set up Stephanie … it’s been on my ‘to-do-list’ for a while🙄. I’m so pleased you and your son enjoyed the video. Tez
Aircraft carriers still blow my mind. Thanks for the photos! And the war bride is priceless. Thank goodness the photographer put in the war damage! Carry on, Blitz spirit! The running horse was the first proof that they had all feet off the ground at a point in a gallop. They thought they would just fall over, even though it was a theory. That’s what I read a long time ago. This was really interesting
Absolutely excellent 👏
The very early pictures of what are now very common objects are wonderful.
Now...a mobile phone can do much much more! Technology is amazing and yes...very nearly interesting 😂
I look forward to all of your productions...I've not found ANY that didn't amuse and demonstrated your expertise in production.
Keep going!
That’s great to hear thanks Paul. Tez 😊
Seeing pictures like 5:30 is peeking into a world before work safety regulations. "What, afraid to fall? Are you a scaredy cat?"
Love this stuff
Thanks pattycake 😊
There's Tez....I'll watch this on my lunch break
Thanks Steve 😊
I was really struck by the similarity between the Eadweard Muybridge's 'couple dancing' from 1887 and the painting 'Dance in the Country' by Renoir of 1883 (There's also the even better known 'Dance at Bougival' same artist and date) they could be the same couple doing the same thing!!!!! Is this the earliest known celebrity dance couple in motion doing an encore?
Once more a brilliant and very nearly interesting range of subjects covered. Please keep this up!!!!
I've just googled it and yes you're right! Very similar! Thanks for watching and for your lovely comment, Tez :)
Wow we have a life of luxury now.
My favourite UA-cam channel ❤
I want to be part of this team
Thank you Connor that’s so kind of you. Tez
Well, that was pretty interesting! 😊
✌️💚 🇬🇧
Thanks Les
Well this was really interesting for sure
Thanks Philip 😊
Tez...do I get any bonus points for Stooky Bill?
What’s a stooky bill?😆
@@verynearlyinteresting To do with the first TV transmission....Google is your friend Tez 😉
20:14 there are only 2 photos of a French King, of Louis Philippe (though there are also many photos of Emperor Napoléon III).
What a shame I missed those out!
waiting for the very fist photos of a planet or the moon, up to the very first pic of an atom
I love the Joker one! I take it it was a movie? Or was it a play?
It was a movie … it’s actually on UA-cam now as it’s out of copyright. Tez
@verynearlyinteresting Oh cool! I'll watch that tonight. Thank you 😊
I always enjoy your videos but I found the music on this one to be much too loud and very irritating. Turning the volume down to where I found it tolerable made your narration almost inaudible.
Ok noted, sorry about that. Tez
Is the Duke of Wellington the earliest Prime Minister to have been photographed?
I think that does ring a bell somehow ...
As you say in Stoke , Very nearly interesting inteet 😊
🤣 we do indeed. Our accent’s great inteet 😆
I really hope that the mine was disarmed before the boy sat down on it.
Same here 😳
It's just the music you use sir
Can NOT stand it
Which is a shame because your content is actually quite good
I must admit there's a couple of tunes in there that I won't use again ... thanks for watching and commenting though I really appreciate it. Tez
The Shroud of Turin is a proven fake. It is, however, almost certainly a photographic negative. Although the technique for fixing the image is unknown (many suspect it is the work of Leonardo da Vinci - the face even looks like him), it could potentially lay claim to being the world's first photograph.
Oh good point!
@@verynearlyinterestinga historian called Charles Freeman has written persuasively on this: not a "fake", but art created as a prop for the Easter service. Only later did people start falsely claiming it was "the" shroud.
Hi! Where are you? Are you ok?
Hi Kathleen. Yes it’s been a while since I’ve posted 😳. You should see a new video in this next couple of days and then hopefully another 3 very quickly afterwards. It’s nice to be missed, Tez
@@verynearlyinteresting looking forward to the video!
