3 years later and The Eternal Void still makes my neck hurt. This is an absolute monster of an album that, in my opinion, deserves way more recognition within the doom scene. It's a subgenre pretty rife with mediocre songwriting hidden behind the idea that the genre calls for simplistic songs. It doesn't. It calls for slow, fuzzy, heavy. This is all 3 while still being interesting in terms of the patterns, tempos, and textures used.
Check out the bands Altar Of Betelgeuze (Stoner/Doom, With a little Death Metal some growling vocals). Some songs have a Soundgarden feel to them. MindKult (Stoner/Doom with a little shoegaze). I believe both bands are on Transcending Obscurity Records..Good label, I like a lot of bands from them.
Check finnish Dö as well. And similarly to Acid Witch, try Krypts from Finland. More old School Death + very good Doom full of H.P. Lovecraft atmosphere mix. Descending Era of Putrefaction is my favourite (though it is compilation).
I LITERALLY JUST DISCOVERED THIS ALBUM AND WHILE BLASTING MINDKILLER, I GOT STUCK AT A WORKZONE STOP, WITH THEM NASTY FUCKING RIFFS RAGING TOWARDS OUTER SPACE, BECAUSE OF A FUCKING DEMOLITION! (Which also really surprised me) MY FACE IS MELTING!
Holy crap!!!! Thank you!!! your channel rocks... I wish I knew how you did it... I saw you and a few others rise up on youtube maybe about 4 years ago?
@@malcolmmckenzie5959 Are you the guitarist from Planet of the Dead? If so you got some magic hands, man. The riffs on this are absolutely disgusting, and I'm gonna check out the new album when I get home from work. This album has been in my regular rotation for nearly a year now.
This album absolutely rips. I will agree that doom metal is littered with phenomenal art and very few phenomenal bands, though. Nearly every doom group comes up with a divine guitar/bass tone then promptly goes absolutely nowhere with it. These guys are an exception, though. The more I listen to this album the heavier it sounds. Their new album Pilgrim is out of this world, too.

when the S P I C E hits
My 138th favorite band of all time
Fear is the mind killer, music is the fear killer.
Underrated is such an outdated word. This melts more faces than ever perceived. Just Put this in your ears silly pants. \m/ >.< \m/
The sci-fi nerd in me is extremely pleased with the lyrics in "Mind Killer"! That's sure to get a whole bunch of duneheads on board with this band. :D
I found this because I had a dream I was at a concert for a band named dead planet so I woke up went on UA-cam searched it up and found this... 🤘
06:57 - When it's time to ride the Sandworm
I can now die happily knowing that stoner-death-doom exists. 🤘
You should check out Acid Witch!

I brake for worm-sign....and now I listen to Planet of the Dead.

Dagster Blaster haha I was thinking the same exact thing?
2:02 Oh this is gonna be one of THOSE albums. I'm all in, man, I fuckin' love transitions in intensity like that.
That's real doom!
It starts with a sample of "Dawn of the dead ".
I knew that sounded familiar
Soooo good! The best doom album I've heard so far

Brutal. I need more.

This reminds me of something Cathedral could have made. It is a blend of a lot of good influences.
Love the album cover!
Very full sound. I like!
Click the album cover, wait and suddenly am crushed via steamroller driven by Michael Meyers!
How many "hell yeah"s does it take to adequately describe this album?
10 seconds in... Hell Yeah!!!
hell yeahhh
👾HELL YEAH 👾
Hell yeah brother
How many singers does it take to front a hundred death metal bands? Just one, apparently.
Badass .

ничего так..послушать можно
it gets good again at 23 minutes. hang in there.
Love the sound. Not a fan of cookie monster vocals.
You better see a doctor about that sore throat ... you were saying???🤣😂🤪😜
Is that title a Porcupine Tree nod?
Public Enemy. Think Porcupine Tree were nodding to the same source.
@@malcolmmckenzie5959 Hahaha I feel incredibly white in this moment

This guy sings for a thousand of these bands. Or at least it sounds like him.
👎
Bloody awful!
kind of sounds like very early Gojira
doom metal. best art. worst music.

The album art is insane... I want to be there...
And when I started listening to music... I was there... I am there...
Joe Gardens so you want to be lost on a deserted planet with nothing but a pathetic flag. That's fine with me.
