Congratulations. I had no luck in Ohio around Sycamore or it’s possible other foragers beat me to them. I did okay in northern Ohio around dead elm. Great video and I’ll look forward to my next trip to Ohio in 2022.

Thanks! Sycamore seems hit or miss. Usually only find a few around them. Sometimes they’re just not growing around the tree or already been picked.

Great video 👍 Thanks for the tips I appreciate it. I'm going out on Thursday with my girlfriend to hunt for morels and fiddleheads.

Very nice. Elms are my best producers as well

Enjoyed your videos from last year. I’m in Ohio too - Canton area (but not in Canton)
I usually hunt on my own property and always get something.
One tip that I have: Morels don’t really like bottom land or top of hills. They seem to like little plateaus towards the bottom but just above, perhaps because they still get water, but don’t like their feet wet, and a little opening above to warm themselves. Not all, but many.
Last year I’ve been getting them under some apple trees above a trail and decided to go further down the hill. Yow! The higher up morels must’ve been sporing down the hill about 60 feet away, at a thin scrubby area poking out into a field. At least 70 plus average 8/9” tall EVERY ONE of them, in an area 15x10 feet. The mother lode. Freaky looking.
Why this area I thought? Well, not quite the bottom, slight shade but still open above, moisture from the trail above them, good drainage from excess water, and a smallish dying tree beside with a few branches laying down to protect them. Quite fussy but once recognizing this, even if the right trees are around, the conditions are attractive.
These were all yellows, around 1st week May 2021.
And agree about bark on a dead/dying tree. I had a great spot for 3/4 years yielding huge greys/yellows until the bark peeled all off. First the bark was everywhere, but then they started not producing. I doubt I’ll find any now there.
    Good Hunting.
