Made these and they are great. Granddaughter approved as all your recipes are. I had the dough in the fridge for 3 days and when I realized I didn't have time on the 3rd day to bake, I froze the dough. Didn't take very long to thaw enough to roll out. We celebrate Christmas Eve, so had them yesterday. Delicious.
How easy you made this look, Mary! I am not much of a baker, but my wife has offered to help me. (She’s the baking star in our family.) BTW, over the US Thanksgiving holiday, we had the pleasure of meeting the Willard Intercontinental Hotel’s pastry chef who made this incredibly detailed gingerbread model of the US Capitol building. It was mind blowing! Good to see you uploading again, Mary- happy holidays to you and yours!
I made pita bread this week and forgot I needed a rolling pin. I remembered the success you had with your bottle, so I used what I had which was a glass cylindrical jar with no problems. Forgot to mention the music is giving me Hallmark Christmas movie vibes. Happy Holidays!
So, I am COMPLETELY broke this holiday season, and I decided (while watching biscuit week on Bake Off) to try making gingerbread cookies for my friends this year. I'm really excited to do this! Thanks for the terrific recipe, friend! :3
Lovely recipe. Thank you. I like to use nutmeg in soups the whole year round. Nutmeg is a typical soup spice here in Germany. I also use clover the whole year round, for example to spice up my black tea. In Greece they have a cookie recipe (my mom made those all the time when we where little) where they stick one whole clove into the top of the butter cookie. 🙂 So delicious. Of course ginger is used all year round as well. But that`s an easier spice and more versatile, especially in asian cooking or indien cuisine. 😃
Bombedsick Planet ok troller .. give you an opportunity to name 3 Female Vegan Chefs with as wide ranging a repertoire of recipes over the years. Cheers
I love blackstrap molasses, and I'm very excited to try these. Ginger type cookies are always a favorite with me! Regarding your spice question, many of my spices do get pretty old, but I find that I actually do use nutmeg often. I tend to like spiced desserts all year around, though.
omg! where are you! came to your channel because I remembered that freezing method for tofu and wanted to try and then realized I hadn’t heard “hello friends...and not yet friends” in AGES
Thank you so much for this recipe, my son who is 6 has severe food allergies and these vegan cookies are a hit! Could you please make other dessert options that are vegan ? Pleaseee 😅
💌Thank you, such cute cookies! have been looking for a gingerbread cookie recioe. One thing I usually cannot not find the molasses, you mentioned Fancy molasses, where can it be found?
Came out ok. They seem normal. I ate a few last night and don't feel bad today. 😶 Not sure it's a good idea to try storing your dough for three weeks generally, though.
Do you know of any dry protein products like tvp out on the market? Unflavored if possible. I saw a vid of East meets kitchen orange seitan with the premade seitan strips but couldn't find anything online. I really like the idea of tvp and I have to limit my sodium, so plain tvp/seitan is great for me. Smoked tofu would be an option but sadly just not available anywhere I can find!!! Also, where can I buy cheese shreds at an affordable price? Wanting to make some Mac and cheese for friends but nobody likes the yeast extract haha. Not Daiya because it's like $10 a pound, lol nope.
Butler soy curls is similar to tvp and looks like strips. You can find them on Amazon and in some health food stores. Imo for cheese, they are all not cheap. Just wait for sales lol or make you own.For mac and cheese try My Vegan cheese whiz. You can Google it and find the recipe on Mary's test kitchen.com. skip the nutritional yeast if you want . But there's not a lot in there so it doesn't taste yeasty . Fyi, you can use sunflower seeds for recipes that call for cashews. cheaper and it works just as well. Good luck
In most of your recepies you mention maple syrup according which is the best brand in the industry that retains 100 percent original taste Thanks for your recepies
Gingerbread cookies you actually _want_ to eat! Well, I never! These look delicious and easy to make, unlike the ones of yore, so I'll give them a go. I use cloves when making Caribbean stews, and add nutmeg to anything using spinach or a Bechamel-type sauce. It makes a subtle difference. TFP : )
This is off topic but where do you get your smokes tofu from? I can’t figure out where to buy it and when I look up smokes tofu all that shows up is tofurky:(
That sliced cheese? It didn't work out. I mentioned it in a whay i ate video a while ago. Texture just want quite right and I won't post if I don't think it's good enough
If it helps, the corn syrup used in baking like this isn't the high fructose variety that is so sketchy health-wise. It's just regular corn syrup, and not really any different than any other kind of sugar syrup.
Check your measurements. If it came out dry you either used too much flour or too little of one or more of the wet ingredients. If you can figure out which on it was, add that amount of wet ingredient(s) into the dough. If you just used too much flour, you can work in a few tablespoons of plant based milk to save your dough. Start with one, knead it in and add one spoon more at a time until you get to the desired consistency.
Mary's Test Kitchen so I’ve finished making them and it all turned out in the end. They look beautiful. They even stayed in shape and the flavor is amazing 🥺❤️ thanks for the help and response!
What can I use if I don't have vegan butter, maybe coconut oil? Also, what would be a substitute for corn syrup, because that's not something I can get easily where I live :(
Not as is. Raw flour can make people sick so you'll want to cook the flour first. You can just bake the flour until it reaches at least 160°F. Then use this heat treated flour to make edible cookie dough.

Ahaha thanks for reminding us to empty the oven before turning it on 😂❤️ you know we chuck everything in there!
SAME! You won't believe how many times I've melted things in there (or maybe you know exactly how it is haha)
Mary's Test Kitchen oops!
I’m in LOVE with your voice! It’s beautifully unique ❤️
I’m so glad that we have such a vegan and talented UA-camr like you 💛🙏🏼

That's wonderful to hear. Thank you so much for sharing! I'm glad the dough worked well out of the freezer! Have a happy new year!
Viele Dank für Ihre Rezept Kekse . Und frohe Weihnachten . 👍🎄🎅🎄
I am only giving out baked goods this year and now I can add this to my baking list!
That's a really good idea! I make sure any food items I give for gifts are vegan but making everything is definitely more fun and eco friendly.

That is very interesting! I have heard of adding nutmeg to white sauce but didn't know it was also used in soups. Thanks for sharing 🤗
Your voice is so fascinating. It helped me to focus on your recipe.
Thank you so much

💌Thank you, such cute cookies! have been looking for a gingerbread cookie recioe. One thing I usually cannot not find the molasses, you mentioned Fancy molasses, where can it be found?
I got mine in the baking aisle of my local grocery store. It can come in jars or in a milk carton kind of package.
Can you do a cookbook review of East Meets Kitchen's Vegan Dim Sum cookbook?
So sorry no. I'm working on my own book rn and am avoiding looking at other with similar content for now.
Would it be possible to use oil instead of vegan butter?
Don’t have Aquafaba…what do I use instead ? 🥺Help . New to the whole vegan thing lol
Do you have a can of beans in your pantry? It's the liquid that you drain from the beans :-)
@@marystestkitchen thank you!!!
@@thisthatandwhy5249 you're most welcome 🤗
So...I just pulled some of this dough out of the fridge. It's dated December 23rd. I'll let you know how things go.
Came out ok. They seem normal. I ate a few last night and don't feel bad today. 😶 Not sure it's a good idea to try storing your dough for three weeks generally, though.
Hey that's not bad at all! I've left cookie dough in the freezer for up to two months! :-D

@@marystestkitchen thanks! Been trying to use sunflower but really hard to get smooth. Also Butler soy curls are quite expensive.
I really want to eat this
You really should ;-)

ok im defo making these cute chubby dudez
Where's the cheese making video!! I watched the burger video where you said you're going to make a video for cheese making. That was like a year ago.
That sliced cheese? It didn't work out. I mentioned it in a whay i ate video a while ago. Texture just want quite right and I won't post if I don't think it's good enough
Gingerbread cookies with no grounded ginger ?
You missed it - 1 tablespoon @ 1:20
👍👍👍👍👍💚💜🌹🌹
Thank you!
Is there an alternative to corn syrup? I feel like I'm committing a crime by deliberately putting that in my recipe
You could try to use agave nectar or maple syrup, if you're not vegan theres honey too.
If it helps, the corn syrup used in baking like this isn't the high fructose variety that is so sketchy health-wise. It's just regular corn syrup, and not really any different than any other kind of sugar syrup.
@@plaitedlight Ahh okay, well that eases my conscience a little more lol thanks
I made this but it didn’t come out sticky, it came out dry. I don’t know why :(

Damn I wanna make these but I calculated how many calories are in this recipe and it’s around 2,770 😩🥲🤦🏻♀️
If your calculations are correct, each cookie comes out to 77 calories. Decent!
@@marystestkitchen okay that makes me feel better 😅
I luv u
Nice but definitely too much molasses ,going to make them with 25% molasses & the rest maple syrup I think.
