Hi Jacob! Thank you so much for your beautiful video!
First I wanted to say something about the blood. It was from our sheep that Bjørn, Gustav and I slaughtered at our organic farm a few months ago, but we only had 4 litres with us. We were supposed to be given more blood from a shop, but they cancelled the delivery at the very last moment so we ended up with only these 4 litres all together (while we would usually need at least more something like 10) so we had to thin it more than usual with water so there would be enough for everyone to have their own ritual. So that it is why it wasn't as dark red this year unfortunately.
Then I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the absolutely mind blowing review you made of our concert! I am truly speechless and so deeply moved by your reaction, it means the world ❤
    Much love, Rúnahild.

Please please don't forget that Norwegians are indigenous to Norway, and Swedes are indigenous to Sweden - Sami belong to Lapland only, while we Scandinavians have been here for thousands of years before the Sami's ancestors ever came.
Norwegians having their own names for the mountains is no different from two Native American tribes both having different names for the same place, because they're different people with different languages. And they fought and oppressed each other as well.

I went to this in 2015, so it was nice to see it for this year! Nice vid.
This a music festival so that is the main thing, yes many of the bands are pagan but still the focus is the music not the blot.
When I did live in northern Norway(I was outside of Narvik) the pagan group Jule event I went too was really nice. I was able to participate and sacrifice 2 rabbits to the Gods, the insides of the rabbits were read for divination, and the meat made into sausages that we ate, and then the pelts were um processed, lack of better word, and given to me as a permanent connection. I still have them and I use them to lay my runes when I read them.
I would say Norway does have a stronger pagan community than Sweden and the culture connects to it much more in a direct since. The pagan church in Norway is very big and they do legal weddings and events. Here in Sweden paganism is more seen as hmm a cultural connection which is lovely, but not as much a religious choice like it is in Norway.
Prices in Norway are about the same as in California in many ways Norway is cheaper than many US states so I would not really make a huge deal about that. Last time I was in the USA in 2014 I went to a festival where that same size beer was 17 usd, so 10 usd today is not really what I would call expensive! Many Norwegians I know tell me they are shocked at how expensive the USA is especially since there is no social net for the high prices.
You are very correct that event is very fun for the people! One thing I enjoy about Nordic countries is the pagan events are very calm and people are friendly. It is not like in the USA when I would to pagan events and people were very close minded, unfriendly and unwelcoming.

I think, Jacob, that your have progressed past the materialism and ego that some rituals can be by immersing yourself in things that are far more deeply spiritual. Events like this have their place. I think many of us started down our spiritual paths subconsciously looking to pacify our egos...but then we found something deeper and more meaningful as we did our home work :) Great video! I totally would be down for that event as just a cool event. Thanks for taking us there!

Midgardsblot is “home” for many of us. Hence the welcome home message is important. It is more about a community of like minded, non judgmental people plus music! It’s one of only places where you see musicians just walking in the crowd because it’s home for them too! I hope you get a chance to come back again and experience the community.

These festivals are a great place to take a break from the rigors of work and just enjoy LIFE! And enjoying life with like-minded folks means that there was very little in the way of conflicts. Also a great way for the youngsters to mingle and possibly meet a future mate. 😀

@@Texasmade74 A gathering where you are meeting people of similar faith and interests does not constitute a "hook up" in my mind. I was actually thinking of an old word that we called "courtship". We "courted" people when I was young to see if the potential mate was a good fit for both the young person AND the family. Many have forgotten the family aspect - until you get a boomerang child showing up at your front door with several kids in tow. Ahh, youth.

"I'm not worthy" 🤣🤣 Best part of the whole video mate cracked me up so much! I feel like I would've spent more time at the burial mounds there than anything. The festival seemed to be a bit...hollow. Like hollow spiritually. Maybe it's because it's still frowned upon? Maybe it's because they would have to tow the line and 'be inclusive' I don't know. Just seemed that way to me overall. Hopefully you find a better festival that's a bit deeper or 'low level'

The history that has been written and passed down by other cultures describe the Carnyx. It is a very interesting instrument with a very interesting history. Worth searching out the facts and people on utube that play the Carnyx. It was used in warfare, probably to incite troops to battle and intimidate opponents, as Polybius recounts. The instrument's significant height allowed it to be heard over the heads of the participants in battles or ceremonies. The ancient carnyx was a wind instrument of the Iron Age Celts, used between c. 200 BC and c. AD 200.

Indeed, as I have an indigenous friend who does Sundance. Neo-Pagans can learn how to reconnect with what is deep and present even if their traditions are not ongoing/continuous from the pre-Christian era. The distance between the reclamation of the Sundance was a couple generations and it never really was entirely truncated; pre-Christian European Paganism is mostly a thousand year truncation. The English scholar Ronald Hutton has done the most solid scholarship on what can be considered continuous and what is not in European paganisms. The late-Margot Adler's 2005 edition of Drawing Down the Moon also explains how continuity and reclamation among American Pagans began and changed into the early 21st cen.@@FreeYourMind-e9h
