Update: boy, it seems like the cold weather really did a number on pollination, period. Had lots of flowers thanks to all that rain, but very little fruitset. The bees just didn't come out to play in the cold weather.
This year I was finally set up for A-B cross-pollinizers, both with paired trees and with in-tree grafting. Well... they all flowered and bloomed at different times, so I didn't get any cross-pollination. I also had high hopes for big fruit set in general, but generous rainfall aside (in California), the cool and windy weather has wrought havoc on the flowers. Most are gone, and I see little evidence of big fruit set in all my trees.
Bummer. You're not alone though. I've seen some groves with poor fruitset overall, and my own trees are hit and miss. Some set well while others set almost nothing even though they bloomed like crazy. I don't know how to explain all of the differences. One thing is for sure: much is out of our control.
Not sure about your best pollenizer for Central Florida, but I would ask around for a B type that fruits well in your neighborhood and go with that. Around me, Zutano, Bacon, Edranol, and Fuerte are among the good choices.
Reed sets so much fruit without a pollenizer everywhere I've seen it. I wouldn't bother with a pollenizer for it. I don't know about Lamb. I haven't seen anyone study it. My own Lamb happens to be next to a Reed and it produces well, but I would guess that most varieties that pollenize Hass well would also do so for Lamb -- except that Lamb flowers a bit later than Hass.
For Lamb Hass, I suggest Zutano with no scientific reason behind it. The only reason I suggest that is that I know of a farmer with 3,000 trees Hass and Lamb trees (Ventura County, Calif) and he just ordered and planted (May 2023 - California) about 10 Zutano trees for pollination purposes. Zutano is a "B" whereas Lamb is an "A" type.
hi greg 🤗 great video. i live in socal, zone 10. after 5 or 6 avocado trees dying, i have given up on trying to grow them in my small backyard garden ... but i wish i could.
What town is zone 10 in south Ca, how hot does it get there, sorry about your avocado trees, try planting them in afternoon shade, and keep them watered
HEEELP..... I live in Simi Valley California, in a regular house with regular backyuard... don't have much space in backyard to plant 3 avocado trees in different spots. My question...Can I plant 3 Has avocados in same spot together ???
Some good ideas. Are you near Valley Center? We've got some Zutano pollinzers for our 8 acres of Hass but would like to plant more and expand to some other Type B pollenizers. Would love to have you come visit us and see the grove. Please let me know if you are available!
Good topic, Greg.

This great to know. Thanks for sharing! I live in Central Florida. I have a Pinkerton, a Lamb Hass, and and a Reed. What should I use as pollenizers?

Hello sir.
Any pollinizer for Reed ?
and what is the best one for Lamb?
Reed sets so much fruit without a pollenizer everywhere I've seen it. I wouldn't bother with a pollenizer for it.

Do Zutano flowers bloom at the same time as Lamb?
Hello sir witch variety is good for hot climate like 45+ temperature
Hi Greg what are your 3 best or favored B types for Pollination, awesome upload, Thanks❤
Thanks! That's a hard question to answer because it depends what your goal is: best fruit, best pollination of a specific A-type variety, etc.
hi greg 🤗

Mayo avocado
Sorry, misfired. Was trying to ask if you know anything about Mayo Avocado. Sorry for the unrelated question. Thanks
I just found your Mayo profile video. Thanks for everything you do!
Perfect!
