    04 Trailblazer....best vehicle I ever had. Sold it in 2021 with almost 400k miles on it. Bought an 08 for my son's first car, 275k and still going....I worked at a chevy dealer for almost 10yrs. Yes, Chevy is junk, but I think the TB is one of the best they ever built. That straight 6 will last forever if taken care of.

    I droped the plastic tank on my forty year old truck, took the sending unit out, took it to power wash the inside to get all the crud out. then I ordered new gaskets and seals and installed new pump / sending unit which is what I would recomend if anyone does the same to their tank - make sure to clean it out and install all new seals with new pump / sending unit.

    Remember the good ole days, before the advent of the check engine light? If that wasn't a revenue generator for car companies, I don't know what was. When you cranked the car up, and the generator (not alternator) gauge showed positive, and the oil pressure gauge (not a light) showed you had oil pressure, you were good to go.

    I am failing to understand how the trailblazer qualifies as one of worst American vehicles made. It needed an O2 sensor, big deal. Great info for a vehicle that’s been sitting for a while, thanks Scotty!
    Another one to look for is the condition of the wires. Rodents like to get up in an engine bay of a sitting vehicle and make their homes, chewing all the wiring in the process.

    Old Gas. When I was much younger I was helping a friend with his VW Microbus. Those 'camper vehicles' [not for use in COD] had heaters that used the gasoline from the tank. The heater had failed around 18 years earlier. You could see in the fuel line at one point and the liquid inside was chunky and like sour milk. Long story short I sucked a mouthful of that fuel by accident. It's sour & horrifying, not tasting like gasoline at all [not a connoisseur or anything...engineer]. Gasoline definitely 'sours' and it becomes acidic as well. Also, doesn't go well with Fava Beans. XD

      Yes all cars the fuel pickup (but not the pump) is mounted on a hinged lever with a float, so always draws from near the top of however much fuel is left. Also the angle of that lever is what generates the signal to tell how much fuel is in the tank

    The Toyota bias in Scotty is strong. While great cars, how can you trash this Trailblazer that is probably approaching 300,000 miles. Still a pretty good vehicle, and probably much cheaper than a comparable Toyota or Lexus. This era was probably the last good cars GM put out, but these weren't bad SUV's.

    I have to disagree with you on this one Scotty and everyone saying this motor killed GM I've owned trailblazers and the motors and transmissions were bullet proof well into the 200k mile range They tend to have cluster panel issues but seemed to have worked them out after 2005 Engines produced plenty of power for towing Full truck frame You still see plenty of then running down the road today up here in the rust belt 20 years old They didn't rust out nearly as bad as trucks of that era I think one of the biggest mistakes GM made was discontinuing that engine in 2008 Just like any vehicle maintenance is key And they are great in snow

    Back in the ‘90s I bought my daughter a Honda Civic that had sat for a year or so (the previous owners admitted this). I have some mechanical aptitude, and got it started, so we got it for a good price. When we got it home, I had my daughter drive the old gas out of it, as I knew that it could cause problems. (I also changed the plugs, filters and oil). It ran like a champ after that. Gotta watch that old gas!

    • @jeladsnikpoh1289
      @jeladsnikpoh1289 Рік тому

      There is, but it doesn't have the same role as the front one. The front one monitors and controls the air/fuel ratio, very important. The rear one doesn't have to be as precise, as it simply needs to stay 'leaner' than the front one to report that the catalytic converter is sufficiently 'cleaning up'. It doesn't control the air/fuel ratio. My Envoy has the V8, so I have 2 front and 2 rear O2sensors. I had to replace both fronts, as I had the code, and the thing ran terrible (hadn't been changed in 245k). Runs like new now, and 20MPG with the snappy V8, heavy long wheelbase model.

    Here is the thing with GMC vehicles during that time. You could change the dash cluster which would show lower miles, but the computer would show original miles right? So what you do is you disconnect the battery with the new used dash cluster with lower miles. Then after 10 minutes you take the positive cable and tap it on the negative terminal of the battery. This resets everything so the computer then learns the miles you have on the used dash cluster. This is a huge scam and thing is Government has not stepped in to stop it.

    • @HH-le1vi
