Agreed. I still like Solo Leveling, but it really didn't use what it had going for it. An interesting setting. Some pretty decent characters. And then Jin Woo just ignores it because he has a personal dungeon he can go on and the system will support him. I still think the Orc Dungeon and Snowfield arcs are the best personally.
ORV is just so well-blended between seriousness and comedy and it has a lot of great characters. Once it got started, ORV has been just perpetually engaging to me and I absolutely love it.

Hell no, did it being hype? Yes it brought so much hype it broke multiple anime streaming services and even started a huge conflicts between countries, you might write a God tier Shakespeare level of story and it still might not surpass a series that brings nothing but pure hype

I know you don't need god-tier writing in general to make a story that resonates with people. But I feel it genuinely squandered potential and resources it did have. I was invested in the world and the other characters in the story. I wanted to see more of the story's exploration of this cruel world which begins spectacularly and with gusto.
I consider hype to be now a combination of factors of online engagement and marketing. Hype may make a lot of money and heck it can push a series to the moon. But that isn't a substitute for good writing.

I caught up after catching up on Unordinary and now im caught uo on Omniscient Reader and started the novel from the beginning
i forgot if there was going to be an anime but there is a live action series being produced. Also if you want to read up to the current chapter try looking it up on asuratoons formerly known as asurascans. That's where I've been reading the series when I first learned about it.
I dunno. I was reading it a year or two ago, or maybe more? The thing is I read all the chapters released at that time and started light novel but it became kinda strange. Maybe it was just because of bad fan translation. And not a fan of constellations thingy. But maybe I will start again. xD
Omniscient Reader is ELITE
When it comes to the story and side characters, I'd agree when it's compared to the ln & manhwa, but the anime? I'm not so sure anymore. We'll see. I will say, I always found the premise, world & characters of solo leveling more interesting in concept but it was the lack of world building & time spent with the supporting cast that, as good as it was/is, made me feel like there was a bit of lost potential with SL. I don't feel that way at all anymore, and especially with arise that has these cool side stories for the side characters which helps establish them even further... never thought I'd mention a gacha in a positive light but, Arise is different at least in the gameplay content it provides. Anyway, I'm hoping those side stories get adapted into OVA's in the future, and that we can preserve the game somehow. Something I've never understood with gacha's is why they don't provide some sort of offline mode, it doesn't have to be everything, but if you give me a way to continue to enjoy the content after EoS I'll be willing to open up my wallet and spend more time, but when I know it could all disappear at any moment it makes me really hesitant to invest.

I think you need to read more chapters to appreciate it, I remember I was completely mindblown when Kim Dokja declared himself a constellation and then turned his team into a nebula during the constellation banquet, I was like "what??!" and "for real??" and then I read spoilers about how they go to space, time travel and fight outer gods and my mind just went 🤯🤯
(LN/ORV Spoilers in this comment. Both of them are different reads that appeal to different people, but my take)
That's a pretty darn harsh metaphor but I guess to each their own. Even after all of it, I still like Solo Leveling, but it loses me when Jin Woo can just ignore half the world that's been built up because the system will provide him money, a personal dungeon, and all the means to get strong if he follows it. After the Snowfield and Orc Dungeon arcs, I don't feel like the series has any meaning left behind Jin Woo getting to the top. Heck, I would put the power ceiling at Thomas Andre/Liu Zhigang. I would cut out the last part out entirely, have Jin Woo join the Hunters, and make it so he can summon like 50 Shadows max. I think that would've made for a much more intriguing story.
ORV is fun to read to me and balances it out with seriousness of people trying to survive in a world gone to shreds. It doesn't purely focus on the MCs power and works on developing his relationships with the other characters. It's just an all-round better usage of what the story has going for it that never leaves it feeling stale even after nearly 200 chapters.
That’s certainly one way of saying that…I think you just need to push past those first 5 chapters or maybe you’re just burnt out and need to take a break or something
@@anthonyschlott916 Sung Jinwoo doesn't cheat by using the money of the system but Jin-ho money by working with him, he is a rich guy therefore when he meet him, he never had a problem in that system, more when he made a guild together.
His story and the truth behind the world is far way behind the snow elf arc aka red gate arc, it's in the Monarchs war arc where we know what truly he is, his powers and his true place in the cosmos. In fact, it get better and better.
In ORV, it's an extremely slow burn with a good ending, true that the MC power isn't the sole focus but he contributed at 90% of the development of the powers of his own companion because he needed it to complete the scenarios of the novel that he was in, due to the knowledge of each events that will happens along the way.
@@carlososler7024 Items he can buy for cheap from his shop sell for multitudes what he paid. So money was never an obstacle in the sense. Jin Woo had the power and means to essentially insulate himself entirely.
I know what happened to the end and nothing about the revelations or the Monarchs or really anything after Thomas Andre really carried a whole lot of weight to me for a multitude of reasons. I never cared about his place in the cosmos. I cared about this brutal society balanced by titan hunter corporations. I cared about how he would navigate the intrigue and feuds. About hunters feeding on other hunters.
Forgive me, but that is why I liked the red gate arc (I had forgotten the name my apologies) and the subsequent Orc dungeon arcs. There was at least a moment where I though Jin Woo would have to make a hard choice that would tip the balance and set the ball rolling. But that never happened.
I aint reading orv manhwa. I am reading the novel. Manhwa felt boring for some reason.

I don't think that series will translate well into anime, it's a heavy text type of series with a lot of dialogue, everyone has a window type game, a lot of intrusive thoughts of the MC will be omitted to gain more time and the pacing will probably get butchered like TOG or GOH.
It's hard for me to imagine it being animated fully. Do you realize how long would it take to animate Omniscient Reader? It's... long

I have read both to the end and i can wholeheartedly say: Solo Leveling doesnt hold a candle to Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint...
EVERYTHING in ORV is SO MUCH better: Characters, Power Systems, World Building, Story Telling, Flow, Fight Scenes, Atmosphere...
SL has barley anything to tell. Its basically just some guy solo running a whole game while enslaving all enemies he is defeating. Its bland. The only interesting part about it was the secrets about the "system" and the endfight against the other monarchs who were hyped up so much (and ended really disappointing imo)
The thing that is carrying SL would be the art.. and thats not the achievements of SL, but mostly Redice Studio...
So yea the reason why im ranting a bit, is because ORV is offering SO MUCH MORE than SL and saying its "similar" or "on at least the same level" is honestly laughable to me...
Its like comparing the master piece that is One piece to attack on titan. yea sure, AoT is good, but not THAT good and wayyyy overhyped for what its worth...

With how meta orv is, it being adapted is like level 99 player entering level 10 zone. Due to the lag between anime watchers and webnovel readers in troupes and cliches. It's already seen in people reading the webtoon from anime community as they are not used to the troupes of regression, reincarnation, system being genre tags on the same level as the isekai tag.
To me solo levelling felt weirdly paste and the power ups earning unsatisfying compare to other shows with the same premise

Omniscient Reader Viewpoint is so good another series that deserves an adaption would like to see it as well as others such as "Reformation of the Deadbeat Noble" "Revenge of the Iron-Blooded Sword Hound " and "I Became the Tyrant of a Defense Game" I'm just glad Tower of God, A Returners Magic Should Be Special, and Solo Leveling got adaptations people are really sleeping on manhwa and manhua.

Code Adam is another good one I'd recommend if you want a power fantasy action webtoon. It just recentlyish had it's 3rd season finale so there is plenty of back log to it and you'll have the time to catch up. The characters are so well written and the art is amazing and the story is very well done as well. (sorry I'm bad at explaining but trust it is SO good)

Whoever suggests others to read ORV after solo leveling is so dumb at least to me because ORV is a complete opposite of Solo Leveling. If anyone who doesn't like solo leveling most of them will like ORV. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying it's a bad manhwa or anything but after reading Solo Leveling i was recommended to read it and people were saying it's better than Solo Leveling or whatever so i was expecting a lot from ORV maybe that's why i find it boring after reading many chapters. ORV has a great story but this is what it can offer like how Solo Leveling can offer action so obviously they will be disappointed if they read it to expect some hype action like Solo Leveling but whatever it's only my opinion after all
I think it depends on taste/preferrence, like I read the SL manhwa first, and then the ORV novel, and I still like both of them, just that I preferred ORV more since while I like stories with blatant action, I like stories with deep plots more. But yeah, people recommending should be more clear on the difference between SL and ORV if they're comparing it tho. It might not be what people are looking for.

Try these manhwa, Chibi, if you haven't already. I mean Solo Leveling and Omniscient Reader are cool. I've read and enjoyed them. But these are just plain better and would make better anime too.
I haven't read SSS-Class Revival Hunter yet, but even before reading the comments here I've heard it's much more substantive than its very generic name implies, so I very much intend to.
Yes The Hero Has Return is my favorite.
SSS Class Revival Hunter is very good. I waa curious at first because the reviews all said it was generic and boring in the first few chapters, and they are right, the first few chapters are nothing special, but then it flipped on a certain chapter. Never changed my opinion on a manhwa so fast. The unfolding of the MC's character is a twist in my opinion.
You should read Pick me Up Gacha, its a really goated series

Solo levelling is good but Omniscient readers viewpoint is Peak
I was searching for solo levelling replacement the I found Omniscient readers viewpoint first I read manhwa but manhwa is still ongoing and it's so good that I can't wait for updates that why i found it's Novel started reading from the start again and now I finished Orv and i can only say that if u read Orv you'll be 49% amazement and 51% Angst 😂 you'll understand if you read it so Again in My opinion Solo levelling is good But Omniscient readers viewpoint is peak you won't find Novel like that
for some reason I don't miss it.... definitely not as much as Shangri-la Frontier or Frieren, Apothecary, etc...
