Kelly, thank you for this. I always fight with the paper to get it situated. This was helpful to see that the weight of the paper actually helps get it in place and aligned correctly. You are so responsive to our questions. Thank you again, and congratulations to your son! 🎉

Thank you for sharing this. Your instructions are always so wonderfully clear. I find that cutting the pieces of craft paper to manageable lengths has really helped me feeding these in evenly. If the paper is on one roll, I just ended up fighting the weight of the paper and, as you said in your video, that makes it hard to keep the paper straight. I’ve only started packing out the front beam as well beyond the knots after your previous video and can’t believe the difference this makes to my tension and weaving. I can’t thank you enough for being so generous with sharing your knowledge ❤️

Thanks for the additional information, I have been using thinner paper. Finally have gotten my space ready so I will be joining your school this week. Wishing you a warm and lovely family Christmas 🎄

Thanks I didn’t realize you wind it on one rotation before you insert the paper.

Thank you for another great video. I just wanted to share that I have purchased a 30” wide roll of the Kraft paper and my husband cut it into 2 15” rolls on his bandsaw. I now have paper exactly the correct width for my 15” loom. I have two 24” looms so plan to buy another 30” roll and have him cut it down to 24”. I’ll be “wasting” 6” but I haven’t found a 24” roll so it will be worth it.

The big two Australian supermarkets have recently gone back to bags made of stiff brown paper (like when I was a kid!). I’m going to try cutting some of them up for this purpose. 🙂

They're the perfect weight of paper for this 👍

This wonderful video will help me refine how I do these steps. I will put the information to immediate use: today I plan to start sampling for some dish towels. Thanks, Kelly!

OMG, I can never get this right. The paper always bunches and jams up everything. Thanks for this amazing tip 😁

Thank you so much for this tutorial and demonstration.I really appreciate it! I am very new to rigid heddle weaving and have yet to even warp my loom for the first time but I feel much more confident after watching some of your videos and I look forward to getting started. The Galaxy scarf is really lovely!

I attached an old sheet, cut to size on the front of my loom. I watched a video of someone with a large loom who had a sheet of leather to wind onto. The sheet has been so successful for me that now I can't even imagine not having it there. I just wash and iron it between projects so it lays nice and flat and straight. It has solved my warping problems! (as I am a one woman show :)

Thank you, this maybe why I'm having problems. Another great video, Kelly. Merry Xmas and a happy new year to you and your family.

I use the wrapping paper inner for packing the front beam. it doesn't need to be very long to cover the knots. For the back beam, I use Woolies (supermarket) paper bags. They open up easily and fit my 60cm loom perfectly.

Thank you! Maybe an explanation for the heavy "wrapping paper"--When I was a kid (in the US) mumblety mumblety years ago, the heavier brown paper was used for wrapping boxes for shipping. I think the name just stuck even though years ago the US post started strongly discouraging wrapping boxes in paper because it was causing problems with the sorting machines--catching and tearing, etc.

Thank you for this video. When you put the paper on the front beam do you continue with the paper through the entire piece? Thanks so much for your instructions. MJ

    • @KellyCasanova
      @KellyCasanova  Рік тому +1

Hi Mary Jane, yes, I generally do continue for the whole piece. You don't have to, but it keeps that warp tension lovely and your weaving will feed on to the front beam very smoothly 😊

I'm completely new, is this for sending in post? Storage purposes? What if the weave has embellishments?

This technique is the process to be used used when setting up and managing your active weaving project on the loom.

It's for separating your layers of warp and weaving in order to improve and keep an even tension 😊
