I always been so very blessed by Gary's work and ministry.
Still I'd like to say something about The Appearances. We need to ask ourselves why and what was JESUS doing during The 40 days He was here before He rose.
He was teaching and instructing the Believers and logically there was a lot of personal interactions between them and the Lord. And over 500 at one time wasn't just some vision, but like when the disciples were in the room And He said touch me and see I'm not a spirit. People can over think anything to prove their doubt. That's why Jesus prayed for those who would believe by their words not seeing JESUS in the flesh.
Get a grip people, and believe God's Word or don't. Just don't intellectualize everything into confusion, and you don't want Jesus to save you.

So, here I am, plagued with low mood and anxiety, I was a Christian some years ago but lost faith. I'm convinced life is pointless if Christianity isn't true. I feel desperately that I want Christianity to be true. Recently I've been trying to put faith back together - I've read and listened to a lot of apologetics stuff, and I've been praying and worshipping and bible reading. But, my mood is low as ever and I'm anxious and terrified of death, which betrays the fact I don't actually believe that I am eternally secure in God's love based on trusting Jesus as my saviour. So, what hope is there for me?! When you have 10 thoroughly earnest truth-seekers exposed to the same apologetics and equally beseeching God's help, how is it 3 come out atheists, 4 agnostics, and 3 as Christians? Belief isn't a decision or a question of willpower. Belief happens in us when our cognitive faculties encounter experiences and information. The resultant internal / mental state of belief, (or skepticism etc) is something the individual becomes aware of but can't directly choose. So what hope is there for those who feel desperate for God and are pursuing Him as best they can but yet remain in unbelief?

Worshipping God works for me, facts are great but really praising Him for who He says He is, the Psalms are a terrific catalyst for praise..nature as well

I disagree. You can decide to believe in spite of human doubts. I do it every day. Every day I worship the Lord, pray, read my Bible and every day I’m getting closer to the point when I can see it is actually harder to disbelieve in God than to believe. We believe in what we can’t see. That’s what makes it faith. There’s more to this world than meets the eye and the more you seek God with a genuine heart the more He makes that clear. Just decide to believe then do it. It’s not easy but it is simple. Just like Jesus said, “only believe.” You will not be let down and will never ever regret it when you are standing before Jesus Himself on the day you die. All your doubt and fears will evaporate forever. He is the great I AM and He loves you more than you could ever imagine. Only believe.

He shockingly admitted here that actually he never did a scholarly headcount on his 6 minimal facts, which he has claimed for decades. Wow. Just wow.

Do you do something similar with the ascension that you have done with the resurrection?

I've once asked on Sean McDowell's channel about Christian philosopher Lydia McGrew on her blog having critiqued you for seeming to misunderstand that C.H. Dodd thinks his cited Gospel' resurrection appearances are false in your Vol.1 magnum opus.
Gary, do you have any thoughts on that? You may want to read her blog posts if you haven't already gotten some more context.

Gary, why don't you bring up the solid evidence that Mark is writing from direct testimony in: "Mark's Geography and the origin of Mark's Gospel with Professor Richard Bauckham"?

Mike himself helped to debunk Habermas' wishful thinking here by the sole act of... keeping pressing him in key questions. Habermas' flailing almost popped out an eye from Mike, lol

Gary seems to be worried about what most so-called scholars think. My faith is based on God's Word alone!

    • @DDoubleU8001

Keep in mind that there are two quite distinct ways of approaching the subject.
Faith is one way. Apologetics - where historical facts, scientific information, artifacts, historical documentation, etc are referenced - is another way.
Both are valid but are "different".
I'm certain Gary has very strong faith which is mostly distinct from his apologetics work (although there may be some overlap). But what he is doing here certainly is apologetics.
Interacting in the scholarly world on this topic requires an apologetics approach. So what Gary is doing is correct. When he mentions scholars granting certain facts (especially atheist and agnostic scholars) I think he bolsters the case. But again, this is how things work in apologetics. Faith is a different approach that won't fly in the scholarly realm.

I came to Jesus because of Christian apologists. It's vital to prove the Truth of the faith, because if you can't do that then it might not be God's Word.

I am surprised that you are not Catholic especially since Scott Hahn converted to Catholicism.
