Oh CM1 was briliant! It was the best photographic smartphone ever made. Nowdays I switched do Xperia 1 but usability is not even close to Panasonic's. I missed him a lot ;(
Thank you for your honest review. I had a CM1 for a few weeks and I didn't like it - especially because of the bad performance at low light situations there is no real reason to use the CM1 instead of a smartphone camera.
I don’t think it’s perform badly on low light. Tripod required but it’s taking great shot after all. You can shoot 60’’ on low iso and camera process for about next 60” but its worth to wait :)
My opinion is that this phone is over-engineered, just like the Chinese phone that make camera the key feature but they forgot that this is just a mobile device.
I think this is the fate of all collectible digital cameras. They get rare and prices go up. I can't recommend non-collectors to buy these anymore because the battery can fail and can't be changed out.
used to have one when this coming out on market and sold it out on used market in a month. 1 inch sensor on smart phone concept was quite revollutionary back in the day (year 2014 i guess) but except that everyh other things were just horrible sensor had inferior low light iso capability than other 'usual' pyhone back in the day and lens was collapsible design and its still phone!!!! nowdays (almost decade passed since panasonic show this one on market) most of 'usual' flagship level android phone have finally have closed to 1 inch size camera sensors :)
These days we have a few real 1" sensor phones on the market, but mostly in Asia, and flagship phones are finally getting to 1/1.3". CM1 camera was 10 years ahead of its time, but the rest of the phone cabalities were behind the times.
I was going through my best cm-1 photos and in bright daylight, it has given me the best photos I have ever taken. Better than my Leica tl2 with 18mm tl which was my personal attempt at getting a taste of the cm1. Weird that a one inch sensor with a similar elmarit lens can be better 😢 I would still be using it if it weren’t for the aged battery in my unit - the fact that they made it non-replaceable when the phone isn’t even waterproof in the first place is criminal
Actually, 1" is wrong name for this 18.7mm sensor. For some reason industry called this sensor 1"-type, but it's far from being sized 1". Not saying it's bad sensor but please please don't call horse an elephant)
I understand that the sensor diagonal is far from 1" in reality - the term dates back to the analog televison days, but if I said 16mm sensor no one would understand, and people wouldn't be able to search for the video easily. Some places are using the term 'Type 1' nowadays, but I don't think its caught on yet.
I haven't used the pro-i, but I do use an xperia 1 iv as my regular cell phone now. It's more well rounded - e.g. works as a phone, has good video features, better in low light, etc. But I think the CM1 is still better in good light.
It's a shame cameras never adopted 1440p video recording - we wasted a lot of years on cameras that advertised 4k video and then couldn't pull it off (eg - low frame rates, or overheating, 5 min record limits, etc.)

I'm probably going to switch to an Xperia myself for my main phone. Obviously I haven't been using the CM1 for non-photo uses for many years.
Happy New Year !!! Love your review of digicams.. Hope to see more ^^
Thanks and Happy New Year! There will be more for sure next year - Samsung Ex2F and Canon G1X II to start.
great designed camera phone , the best design. it will be so good if this model will came out more improved as new in future.
I'd love to see a new one, but I don't think Panasonic has released another phone since 2015.
The pre-cursor of Sony Xperia Pro-I. I'd love to see Panasonic give modern camera sensor with interchangeable lens alongside modern flagship chipset.
In some ways yes. I'm trying to switch over to an xperia phone myself now, so I have something with a little more manual control.
Thank you for your honest review.

@@Sidaglez In my opinion, if you need a tripod means that it's bad in low light situations ...
The photos look alright. I would be really interested to see what the video looks like though...Does it shoot 1080p@30 or anything?
1080p@30 &4k@15fps - but the lens doesn't have optical stabilzation so footage can be jerky.

My opinion is that the rest of the phone was under-engineered 😜
holy crap, just looked up so see how much this camera is, $600 to $1200 used...... WOW!!!

That's one reason I can't recommend the CM1 to people - with no way to replace the battery it could die at any time.

I'm out of clue how this happened 🤷♀Thanks for video, btw!
Hello, you know how to factory reset the phone without having access to it ?
Typically if you hold one of the volume buttons plus power when you turn it on you get to 'recovery mode' from their you can probably reset the data.
@@leadwhite1249 I've tried so many things, but unfortunately I haven't found a combination to reset my phone
i really want to see this vs xperia pro-i
old 20mp vs new 12mp
because they use 1" sensor

I had it, returned because of the slow frame rate in video. Great device though.

my first smartphone, nothing has compared since. Sad day when the camera wouldn't move out anymore, rendering it useless :(
Reliability and servicing is one are where I feel smartphones will never catch up to regular cameras.
With one megapixel (1.1mp) selfie cam 😂
who needs more than 1.1MP???
@@leadwhite1249 every one including you bro 😎
You can always stick some self adhesive mirror label on back 😂 its working better than second screen😂
@@Sidaglez if you get a magsafe adapter you can have the mirror be removable too!
@@Sidaglez maybe😂
