You don't have to discard a decent blade should you activate the SawStop brake. Send a quality blade to a qualified saw sharping service and they can braze on new teeth and true the plate if needed. Send Forrest blades to Forrest to be serviced (they can also sharpen other makes of blades and often make those blades cut better than when new).
SawStop posts on their site the following Q&A:
"Can the blade be reused if the safety system brake is activated?
When the safety system activates, it will sometimes damage one or more teeth on the blade. Some users discard and replace the blade, while others choose to have their blades inspected/repaired by a qualified specialist."

This is definitely what I needed today. Thanks for the laugh, guys 👍
This is a great list and one that I’ll be making use of in the near future. Clamps are super important and also a lot of money, but I wouldn’t say they’re expensive, because they’re worth their weight in gold. I have a few Bessey clamps, which are great!
I’m also looking at a random orbit sander at the moment, but I have about £100 to spend (about $134), so the Mirka and Festool aren’t in budget, but looking on the net, I do like the look of the Dewalt option.
Anyway, thanks for the tips and have a good’un.

You know the headphones, while I have Bose 35's, I do have two sets of WorkTunes; an older analog pair, and a notso newer digital bluetooth pair. I have to say, the Bose, like your re-enactment are just softer on my ears. The WorkTunes have been relegated to outdoor mowing, snowblowing or chainsawing now, or on the occasion someone such as the wife needs a pair helping me do plain, sand or cut. PS: I'll give the wife the Bose ;-)

Working at a large shop we had a few brakes triggered in our saw stops. We would send our blades to our sharpener to get checked for true. See if your sharpeners can do that as well you might be able to save the blade. It’s not too hard to get them out of the aluminum brake. Just use some gloves and wiggle them out.

I’s recommend a 6-inch double square instead of the small stiff ruler. You can always take off the square head, and have a small stiff ruler, should the need arise. And, for starter router bit sets, I’d go with the MLCS 15-pc set for about $45. then go to a higher quality bit for the ones you wear out.

      - Larger carpenters Square
      - Saddle T Square or Pocket Square or Delve (depending on personal preference)
Between having one large square and 1 small square you'll have pretty good coverage for any tool set up. Add in a carpenter square and now you have three really good right angles for assembly tasks. Add in the last bullet point and now you can really grainularly mark things when needed.

I’m bad at Cnc so I just use a jig saw and order sander and it’ll get it dobe

I thought I'd love my delve square, but the lead snaps off every time I try to use the holes. I'm using a 9mm lead pencil, but it just doesn't seem to settle in the hole. Do I have to buy the woodpeckers pencil to make it work?

No. I use Bic 0.5mm mechanical pencils. I bought a pack of like 30 a few years ago and they are still floating around all over my shop. I definitely still break lead, not all the time, but the trade off is worth it for me. I'd rather buy 150 pencils than mess up on one crucial cut.

The problem with using active noise cancelling headphones in the shop is that they don’t provide any actual hearing protection. It’s about the same effect as turning up your music to drown out the machine noise. Still doing hearing damage long term.

I would love a CNC machine. But I just don't have the space to put one. If there was a way to fold up or hang on the wall. And affording one big enough to do the projects I would need to do on one.

space is always my biggest obstacle to getting new tools. I guess for my unlimited gift option I should ask for a new house with a detached 20x30 workshop with power, plumbing, HVAC, and dust collection LOL
