John is brilliant like most big businesses in this country including the prison system it’s run by a lot of highly educated people, the trouble with this most of the time they have no common sense what so ever !! John is full of common sense and a wealth of experience in the prison system we need men like this to reform the system and make it safe especially for the mentally sick and venerable who shouldn’t even be in prison!

I'm 47 I've been in prison on and off for over 20 years for crimes ranging from theft to drug possession and post office robberies , commercial and domestic burglary all of which I'm not proud of. The prison system in this country is shocking. There are some decent officers who want to help but they are the minority, there's absolutely no rehabilitation whatsoever and it seems to me that the only way you get anything sorted out is by kicking off and threatening to do this and that I.e self harm . Upset the routine on the wing which causes the officers work. Basically act like a fucking spoilt fucking child . Which I couldn't lower myself to do . Then it's full of spice which is being bought in by corrupt officers. Hell holes they all are . I've been out almost 2 years now and will never be going back . God I'm able to go abroad for the first time in 20 years in March as I will be off license and free from all contact with the criminal justice system 🙏

James, you have the most uncanny ability to not only find interesting guests, regardless if one might like/dislike, agree/disagree or even believe or not believe them but, to also facilitate them telling their story in a way that is captivating for all of us watching or listening. Almost always you seem to find the right balance between educational, informative, entertaining, etc.
Regardless who you have on the podcast, it always leaves me with food for thought.
Perhaps having more guests from mainland Europe might even help grow your audience. Just a thought.
Keep up the good work 🙏

It never stops to amaze me but all the prison officers and police you've ever interviewed always have the same whoo is me victim mentality when they get charged with breaking the law, but they laugh about people they remember being wrongly convicted.
This guy's when he defended himself in the pub, yet within a few minutes he is laughing about his friend beating on over 100 prisoners for no reason ... He was just about one of those prisoners and I'm sure he would have claimed to be a victim of a big Irish prison guard gave him a smack for something Simone else did.
Reminds me of that female onlyfans ex cop who was told hundreds of times her modelling was against policy and she kept doing and kept saying she was a victim, but she was laughing while talking about arresting people for petty offenses.
Really shows the mentality that goes behind a badge.
