Hey, I'm an Ashihara kid and I also live in Vancouver now. I've spent a year looking for Ashihara school here: none. The best result I got was a rumor about a small group of guys who practice Ashihara for fun or something, but I never made it to meet them.
芦原会館 (Ashihara Kaikan); If you watching the movie "High Kick Girl", you'll see in the movie that one of the actress "小林由香", she's from Ashihara Kaikan Karate, but don't forget other Karate's like: Kyokushin, Shin Kyokushin, Shotokan, Shito Ryu, Shoriji Kenpo, Shorin Ryu, Isshin Ryu, Budokan, Goju Ryu, Gosoku Ryu, Gotsu Ryu, Wado Ryu, Ryukyu Kobujutsu, JKA. Thank your all Karateka's.
Not quite. Judo competitions have no time limit to grappling like in Ashihara. They count 3 seconds from the moment you put an open hand on your opponent. If you performed your technique too late it doesn't give any points. So you have to be really quick with throws and a Judoka would need to develop some striking skills to set up his grabs let alone learning to deal with clinch fighting that goes on for but 3 seconds and then a ref sepparates you.
I do shotokan karate, and this looks almost nothing like what our contests look like. I only recognise the kicks and punches, we don't nearly throw as much as these guys do.
@@frankiegodinez8864 yes but the founder of this style is a student from kyokushin who is expelled because of (aside from being fearless even Sensei Oyama is afraid of this student)developing his own style which more like from Bruce Lee's Jeet Kunedo which is while(when) being attacked be sure to hit first.. Good fight, and Lavrushin is good, especially his khitza geries, but, by the way, my teacher had fought and won Lavrushin. I will try to find the video of that fight and post it here, I heard it was a pretty impressive fight.

Muay Thai is a fine combat sport in its own right. Many fighters, Alexander included, compete in multiple formats. Alexander had sever fights under Muay Thai rules, most of them he won. You can see some of those fights here on my account.
The tournament was called “Battle of the champions”. Both of the fighters are champions of different past tournaments, so both qualified to enter. The promoters were responsible to match their skill level, and they thought they did. I agree with you that one fighter dominated this fight - it happens in fights. I don’t think this fight was staged or rigged.
the one holding the neck all the time, is probably an old kickboxer, because that is a common grab there, but in ashihara its not allowed to do as he is doing....
Ι see no difference with kyokushin, do i miss something? My trainer told me alot of times again and again not to do big moves, only short fast moves centered low and use of drop-downs. He was very practical trainer i believe.
Ashihara is a derivative of Kyokushin, hence the similarity. In Ashihara you have some limited clinching, leg sweeps, some throws, and I think you can use the knees to the head - all of those (if I am not mistaken) are not part of the classic Kyokushin. You can Google for more details. What your trainer told you is true for most of the combat sports, my Muay Thai coaches say the same

Oyama off kyokushin karate took the muay thai thigh kick etc and used it against them. It's still karate, but you're right that it resembles muay thai. It's certainly not traditional karate though.
Kyokushin + Judo Throws : Great combination!
That’s kudo karate
It's sabaki
@@wayne30-f7h enshin does the same. Kudo is sloppy
Brilliant timing of the throws. And the goddamn knee kicks to the face!. This what every karate should become.
Every karate is technically like that its just that the rules forbade them and it becomes a habit to the karateka
wow this karate match is cool
i do kyokushin, but i like this kind of karate more usings throws and grabbing

This is still kyokushin 😂, with being aload to grab.
footwork
Ashihara concentrates more on using sabaki or footwork to get in the blind side of the opponent

These guys were tough and I liked their skill level - but a fighting style without allowing head strikes is kind of hokey. It's why I prefer MMA.
MMA was better with no gloves :)
That looks exactly like kyokushin+grappling
Because it is. Ashihara was decorated instructor in kyokushin.
Is grabbing a your opponent's neck or attire to throw the knees part of the style? It looks like dirty fighting.
Yes it is part of the style. grapple for 2 seconds to make a technique is permitted.
+datdanweerwel i think time was increased to make fights more realistic

This basically looks like Kyokushin as they are squared up and throwing down... They really aren't using much of the sabaki.
