Early in the Pandemic, King asked himself: “What could you write that would make you happy?”
“As if my imagination had been waiting for the question to be asked, I saw a vast deserted city-deserted but alive. I saw the empty streets, the haunted buildings, a gargoyle head lying overturned in the street. I saw smashed statues (of what I didn’t know, but I eventually found out). I saw a huge, sprawling palace with glass towers so high their tips pierced the clouds. Those images released the story I wanted to tell.”

love this man and his stories. going to be a sad, sad day when he passes on.... I'm currently reading through his bibliography and just having a blast. This book was the first time I've ever read his book the day it came out. What a treat it was, such a good book. Loved it.
I have been reading SK since the 70's, he got me through a really bad time in my life. Keep writing oh master of the story.

I love all of King's books & have seen several adaptations of his stories on film. As long as he writes them, I will keep on reading! He is just so wonderful! I have been reading his writings since I was young! I have no words to describe just how detailed & awesome it is to read his works!
Agreed as long as we can see the dark tower in 10-12 films. 1st one was too squashed! There's not many I haven't read more than once! Including 1st editions, whoops, that's what books are for!

I find the best thing about getting older, and having a less perfect memory, is that I get to go back and start rereading! I'm very much enjoying going back to books previously read and finding I love them just as much as the first time.

Ah, reminiscent of the weird beings in Duma Key which is my very favorite book. Love the characters Stephen King creates. I would recognize them on the street. So looking forward to the release of this audiobook. King is one of the narrators.

I have just read "Fairy Tale", and I loved it. My next favorite, is "The Stand" Love your writing, Like the humour in some of your stories, Fairy tale had just the right amount of everything, in my opinion. I am 75 years young.
Stephen King has brought so much joy into my life. Many, many hours have I didn't reading his books and watching film adaptions and mini series from his books. I had read a lot of books before I read any of his. But as a 12 year old, reading Night Shift, he brought true horror into my life. For that I thank him. Almost 40 years I've loved this author, this man. Wishing him many more years of good health, and a great mind.
This sounds like "The King of Horror" is back & I love it. Thank You so much. Judging from the size of the book it looks like a good substantial read too. Another plus. I certainly am looking forward to this, but then I look forward to all his books.
My love for SK books came from my mom, she read them to me as a child... and I still read them today... Fairy Tale is awesome... listening to it now.
I love Stephen King books in the 3rd person perspective. However this is going to be amazing in the first person of the main character. I look forward to reading this ♥

The Stand was the first Stephen King book I read at the age of 12 or 13. That started my obsession. I am now 55, and that obsession continues! Can't wait to get my hands on this book!!!

SK has this talent for being able to write characters that are so vivid you can slip behind their eyes and become one with the story and find yourself FULLY immersed the landscape he creates. THANKEE SAII! SWOON!! Be still my heart - settle in kiddies, the MASTER has another tale to make us squirm, to make us think, to transport our whole beings to other worlds. I first read King in the late 1970's - i was in the 4th grade and came across a copy of Carrie. I read it in SECRET under the covers with the flashlight at night because I KNEW my parents would take it way from me. And oh my lord, a life long love affair with horror/fantasy was born. I decided right then and there that I *LOVED* the OOOGY scary feeling I got reading scary books. THANKEE SAI!! So I go on a two week beach vacation 3 days after the publication of this book. It's going to take every.ounce.of.willpower not to devour this before I go! Must save it for the plane trip!

A boy, a GS dog, a quest... what's not to love? I always like to read a book, then maybe listen on Audible, or UA-cam, given the title, FairyTale, had to listen first. My husband, a Maine man, prefers to hear a story told, I called dibs on this one. Nothing in this hard-yet beautiful life is better than a good story, Mr King, you tell the best. A constant reader since the 70's. Thank you for the stories.
A master storyteller... He always knows how to entertain, with books that make you reflect, wonder... I've been in love with his books since I read Salem's Lot when I was fourteen, and I can't stop devouring everything he writes. Such a marvelous, eternal style
He read the audio book The Wind Through The Keyhole. I loved listening to that. One of my favorite audio books.
Love this book. But then again I love all of his books. No one grabs me like Stephen King.
Vacationing in Maine now! Making my yearly trek to Sire’s home tomorrow(I’m lucky enough to live in New England). Been reading him for 40 years. Re-reading Nightmares and Dreamscapes now(‘93). There is something about reading his works when I’m submerged in Maine!!! Can’t wait for the new stuff!

This is my favorite King novel of all time. It gave me the same feeling I had when I first read IT and Pet Semetary for the first time. I didn't want it to end.

I have enjoyed reading SK’s books since the beginning in the 70’s and I think it’s why I love to write as much as read. He is a national treasure 🥰I keep rereading in between new books and they are always welcome in my home. Thanks Sai King for another wonderful tome of cherished prose.

sure, there are millions of authors//writers,, but there is only one on the globe who can pull you and literally make you feel like Stephen King, his writing style in so in your face,, down home,, idle chit chat, slang,, small talk,, talk to the reader,, descriptive,, vivid,, ambitious, raw,, visceral,, colorful, and just plain fun as hell. Mr King can put a story together that one NEVER forgets, most stories kind of fade from the mind over time, not this guy, he is a literal literary magician, I feel as thought I am living the story, THANK YOU Stephen King, !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you are a legend, an icon, a writing god
Mr King, I'm reading the book now. Young Mr Reade has entered the shed, listened to Bowditch's cassettes and I'm soaked in it. It was the last book my dad (an avid reader) ever read! But, he never finished it. Bookmark at 207. I keep it there and just bend the end of the marker to the page I left off...

I'm late to the party but I'm finally reading this! I purchased the novel and the audiobook on Audible. I'm loving it so far. I recently finished Billy Summers and 11.22.63. I highly recommend both!! @@nobakwaas5161 on writing is great book. He does give some interesting tips on the craft of writing. I know he doesn't like adjectives, and he doesn't describe the appearences of the characters, don't know.
I don't know if he made some of his memoirs up.

I own almost EVERY King book hard & soft cover and all his audible books. Btw, all the audible books where King reads are the BEST ones with an exception to The Shining (that narrator did great, I'm on my 4th time listening to the book) !!

I'm often asked by ppl,
"Why do you like horror movies & books so much?" fyi I'm obsessed yes😂, I write down every horror movie I've ever seen in alphabetical order 😂 and as of today (I'm 52 yrs old) I've seen over 4,100 & own over 500 of them on DVDs. (All King movies included, even the TV movie remake like The Shining)
Anywho, back to the question...
I love horror movies and books, because it's much easier to believe in someone running around with an axe killing ppl & evil in this world.....then a prince charming, love and happily ever after!
If you think I'm crazy, then turn off the news and venture out into the world outside today!!
I'm happy to just die with my nose in a book then face what is our reality IS today..... it's an ENTIRE DIFFERENT kind of HORROR STORY in the world now, one we ONLY thought we'd see in a sci-fi or horror movie!!
Stay vigilant and use diserment when listening to your TV or reading ANY newspaper or magazine, things are NOT as they all are showing you or telling you.....they actually are MUCH MUCH worse!!!

I love the voice he gives to Peterkin. It’s how I heard it in my mind as I read this in the book! Of course I love everything that Stephen King has ever written. There are only a small handful of authors that I buy the hardback version of. I own everything he has written!

I've read the Dark Tower books three times already. I know without a doubt I’ll enjoy this dark fairy-tale just as much as I've enjoyed the Dark Tower mythology. I've pre-ordered this since January.
