Great ads, you can tell they had pride in the games they made.
The animated, live action, clay-mation and downright cheesy ads of the 80s and 90s were the best. That's sorely missing from a lot of game footage only (or overly mainstream oriented) ads in modern times, but there's occasionally great stuff like the Capcom Beat-Em-Up 'time travel' commercial and the FFVII remake short.

I'm gonna take a wild guess that either Ogata-san or Hataya-san produced the song for the Sonic & Tails 2/Sonic Triple Trouble commercial - it just souds like something straight outta Sonic CD!
And notice how in the Sonic & Tails/Sonic Chaos ad, Tails' tails look more INVISIBLE than spinning in motion.

@@Vetusomaru Sega Technical Institute did 3 and Knuckles. I think with the series also being a bigger hit in general in America, that's why they just dubbed over the US commercial for Japan.

In Japanese culture, it can be considered a 'cool' trait to show off the fact that you are multilingual. And since Sonic's marketing was all about showing how cool he was, he was also made to clearly speak both Japanese and English for Japanese audiences. You can hear him do this all the time in the Japanese versions of most Sonic games and there's a whole compilation of Sonic's Engrish from the Sonic X sub. (Ever since the first Sonic Adventure, his Japanese VA has pretty consistently been Jun'ichi Kanemaru, who was an English teacher in Japan for a number of years.)
Sonic has always been presented as a Terry Bogard-esque American. I think the first publicly released recording of Kanemaru Junichi in the role had him speaking English, at least for the beginning "Hello, my name is" part.
