Great to see you I hope your are planning to do more videos this year even it’s just daily routine of feeding and water animals just to see weekly progress would be so helpful to us 😊
Great video and awesome advice. I am in the process of starting a new pig farm and it is very reasuring to check the boxes of everything you listed. Greetings from South Africa.
Some high brass or snco told us to quit being a bunch of pussies and re-up, in the separation class in late 2000. So me and another sergeant went back to barracks and took a 3 hour nap after the morning session. Our buddies signed our names in for us. Oh and I grew up on a pig farm in Iowa. We did things Bass ackward and was way tougher than it should have been. Dad sold everything weeks before I joined the Corps. Anyway, I was a proud short timer and your videos make me long for another shot at farming. This time my call.
At about 3:30 mark I want to say god bless you and family success is measurable and letting people know that it is possible on a farm and hitting people and buying land is a big part of success because part of farm isn’t doing everything by your self it’s about working with people and working a with the land it’s hard to have one without the other they go hand and hand
I worked with a number of retention officers during my career. Some were thoughtful and helpful of the members needs. Some didn't give a fnck one way the other. And then there was the guy that was sicked on me the first time I got out. One of the things he said to me during that three month ordeal was, "What the hell do you have to look forward to? What are you going to do with your life once you're out?" So I told him, "I'm going to lie in the gutter and suck d!ck until I get my self respect back."
You got to aim for something and start from somewhere it’s better then no direction right lol but their is no real comeback to that he knew your was done with that one line he probably reported back yeah he is out for sure 100 percent
If you're married, you're the ultimate salesman. Think about that. Mouth open, store open.give out samples of your products. And talk your business. Invest your time in people that support you. Flush unproductive relationships or get a hobby.
@@bennlowhomestead8087 I went to 50,000 labels last year so I'm not making this up. You should be able to sell whole Hogs to clients left and right. Of course I don't know where you live and if you have anybody around you. My question is if you spend 70 to 80 hours a week at some other business or profession I'm willing to bet you don't spend much time marketing your product. I hear a response from some people that say nobody has any money or wants to pay. Please go to your nearest Whole Foods store or Gourmet Grocery Store. You will find that it's packed. You will see that the toothpaste is 8 to $12. Those are the people that you need to talk to. Stop talking to the people that shop at the dollar store. Create a trifold that tells the story of your business. Do not have a business card. Every Man Has a 5 gallon bucket of business cards and they're worthless. Diversify with other lines of meat. It will open the doors. If you're just starting out you have to do farmers markets. If you don't have the time to do that and can't hire it done you are likely not going to build a successful business
@@bennlowhomestead8087 if you are in an area with a local food scene you could try calling up some farm stores. A lot of what we sell goes to farm stores. It’s great to know the kinds of farmers that run those stores too. They’re good folk.
@@SibHoustonTX you know if you can't find something like a Mennonite community and use their schooling it seems that might be something to check into. We are in the process of starting a meat goat operation in central Va.

This guy gets a lotta love..

Start with family and friends. If you can sell to them you can sell to anyone.
