17:15 This fallen tree is the Old Nest Snag. This tree was used by the previous pair of eagles, Lucy and Ricky, in 2012, where they fledged Jackie, who is believed to be our Jackie. The tree still has a forest service tag denoting it as a protected tree.

19:42 Jackie brings a stick to the Stick Depot Snag. Eagles are known to be compulsive nest builders. They may have several nests in their territory.
Some pairs have been known to have as many as 6 nests. There is only one known nest for Jackie and Shadow. However, they have been seen bringing sticks to and from the Stick Depot Snag For a while now.

🥚Jackie and Shadow are letting go of their unhatched eggs and continue their incubation withdrawal process. On 4/11, one egg was broken and disappeared in the bowl. It is unclear if there was any development inside. On 4/13, Jackie consumed at least one remaining egg (no signs of development). The last (third) egg may or may not still remain in the nest (hidden in fluff).
We have no way of knowing why the egg did not hatch. It could be environmental, such as temperatures, humidity percentages, oxygen levels at high altitude, etc. It could be biological with something just being off at the time the eggs were created. It is very unlikely that either Jackie or Shadow are infertile since they have already had 2 sets of chicks together - in 2019 and 2022.

Maybe Shadow wants to ensure those are his chicks in the eggs? We humans tend to anthropomorphize nature. We like to project our motives and behaviors onto animals. Mostly animals are acting on genetic memory (instinct).

Yes Susan. All their sweet chortles and chirping brought that song to mind. It’s an upbeat happy song the Turtles wrote. Shadow & Jackie have been down for so long it was nice to hear them happy and upbeat again.
@ Lynnkramer: I respectively disagree with you regarding basic animal behavior, especially when it comes to these two beautiful birds. I’ve watched them a few years now and there’s a lot more going on between them than meets the eye. It’s not just me who sees it.

It was hard to watch Jackie and Shadow this past month, but they are the symbol of our country and stand for resilience, strength, loyalty, and their ability to adapt and overcome adversity. I have been to Big Bear and it was a lifelong dream to go. Since a child I wanted to go there. And now that Shadow and Jackie live there, I want to go again. They are a Beautiful couple who love and loyalty to each other through thick and thin is just amazing and such an example for us people. 💕♥️🦅🦅♥️💕

The lake is really full, Beautiful sight with the ducks landing on it. Two Bald eagles setting in a tree; chatting up a storm or singing their goodnight lullaby’s.
Because more sticks will make the nest more comfy😂😂. Maybe she wants another clutch.

California has the most diverse habitat anywhere! Many different areas , desert, redwood forest, it’s worth a visit 🤩

I just absolutely loved the opening of this video where you can hear Jackie and Shadow (I’m pretty sure) talking away with each other and it always makes me happy when I hear two Eagles chatting away. They’re probably talking about their possible next adventure and how it’s all gonna pan out too.🥰🦅🦅❤️. They are two very lucky Eagles with the views they have no matter where they are perched at.👍🏻. I am not a fan of the snow but if I were an Eagle, I’d surly would like to make BBL my Summer home and nest there right in front of the Lake too. Thank you for this video and for showing Jackie and Shadow too. I usually check out the nest and the ST too to see if I can see them but sometimes I believe I can hear them talking to each other from somewhere. God bless FOBBV and also Jackie and Shadow too. Thank you for all of your hard work to bring us these beautiful videos. The valley is beautiful! I was wondering if you ever seen any other wild life, like bear? Then I saw you zoom in on some footprints. It appeared to be human footprints.
Sometime would you please show us a photo of their nest from the side and bottom? I always find them so interesting and I’m in awe of what these birds can do. I’m sure it’s like other nest’s I’ve seen in that it weighs close to a thousand pounds. And, THANK YOU, your videos are always so enjoyable to watch, plus the story you tell through these clips are amazing!

Tell you what was watching young Shadow woo Jackie 1st time on nest and young eaglet Stormy? Chasing him off! So I'm I right in thinking Jackie had eaglets with a male before Fluffy head Shadow & what happened to him!? But young shadow that's how you fight for ur Queen Jackie but Shadow persevered kept prodding those sticks in the right place 😂 as Jackies nest wasn't as clean til the Branch 🌿 manager arrived 😂 🦅🦅🙏✌️👍

Been watching Shadow from early days & as a father to Spirit who's got Jackies toughness & Vocals 😂I only discovered them about 8 weeks back as had no interest in eagles or birds etc so here by default but glad UA-cam autoplay took me here! Promised I would not Google about the Bauld Eagle 🦅 and learn everything from the camera 📸 & the love & respect I have for those 2 cant explain that's why we all here lol 😂 But I'm only asking the good people in comments to educate me rather than Google as makes it more natraul as I never see bauld eagle 🦅 However Scotland does have over 400 pairs off Golden eagles 🦅 protected species. Sorry for blabaring on, but I Appreciate reply Thank you GBless ☘️🦅👍
