I had to do the exact same thing with my cage. Ratchet straps to get it in, then a porta-press to push it back apart after it was in place. The cage looks great though! Great job with the install!

We call those 'ratchet' straps. The are very useful items for many circumstances alright.

Great video sir! I have had someone install a rear safety devices cage black coloured. I wish I had installed it myself as it is not straight from the side. About the seats, they have a nice classic racing look but I would have preferred ones with a head rest. I have installed seats from a rover mgf. They are great! Overall keep the quality work and looking forward to more tuning videos.😀

I get the whole look is stunning, but I just think for road use the half cage adds weight and removes functionality. Also, any false sense of security that the cage will save you in a bad accident. I realise it must be better than stock, as the Mini will crush down to the door line when upside down, but if people do higher speeds thinking that it's safer with that cage, it could be more deadly. Also, low seat backs with no whiplash protection, and also the added likelihood of hitting your head on that very unforgiving cage in a small accident worrying me. I also don't understand newer (1978 or younger) minis trying to look like the 1971 Britax cooper.
The black grille, reversing light clusters.. I think I'd have to change them before I painted the entire car and put on the decals.
Again, not disrespecting the car or it's looks. The Britax story is so interesting, more people should know about it and if this car raises awareness, then that's a good thing.
Wahhh very nice seat choice . they look soo sick . and the roll cage makes a perfect Sport look to the car . I wouldn't have though a roll cage was legal in Belgium . that looks super cool.
This getting rollcage in car reminded me myself, when I tried to clean and lube door lock mechanism on Audi A4 B5. I removed those, cleaned, oiled and then it took me ~1hour to get them back in. At one point I was ready to swear that according to basic laws of physics and common sense, those locks could not be from this car as they can not be installed through tiny holes I got them out from.

I know this is street car, but if this is race car then roll cage reinforcement plates must be welded to the bodyshell. Check FIA rulebook, there are more.

Is it legal in Belgium to run a cage WITHOUT a backseat? I got told it isn't legal without a backseat.
Yes it is, its not legal with a backseat as it would hurt the passengers.......
As always a very detailed and informative update to a great project! Really am enjoining this channel.
However, I am not a fan of seats with poor head support. These won’t do you any favors if you get rear ended. Even at slow speed this can cause serious neck injury.

I would be very worried about my (or my passengers) head smashing back into that rollcage in the event of an accident - a higher backed seat here would be much safer, surely?

Having been in motorsport (as a professional) for many years, DO NOT FIT A HALF REAR CAGE if you are doing any competition work! YOU MUST HAVE THE CAGE OVER YOU AND YOUR PASSENGER. I have seen deaths on multiple occasions ( including amateur an club events) because of this. The rear of the car was fine, the driver was not. Spend the money.
The video states that the full cage would not be road legal - it's not a matter of saving money.

Fred , I am fully with you/ except that where I life its impossible as the car will never pass MOT for road use.... Only the rear part is allowed
