Videos like this remind me of extreme contrast to something like Tokyo. I walked there during night and felt safer than anywhere during daytime. Interesting how different it feels, how some people want to live in peace and harmony. And how some just don't care how they live
Always interesting to watch your walks. The city seems to be in rough shape but it's vibrant. I wouldn't say it looks safe for tourists yet but it's safe looking from your camera for now.
I haven't been to Bree Street since the 1980's and I don't recognise anything in your video. I used to work in Jorissen Street in early 1980's, a company named Computer Sciences Ltd. I did my apprenticeship there, then the company later moved to Kramerville. I think they were eventually taken over by Plessey. I used to go with my friends to Hillbrow for nights out on the town. I hear it is a bit of a dodgy area these days. Just joined your channel and looking forward to watching more of your videos to see what I can remember 🙂

I grew up in JHB 60 years ago and there were always some scruffy and dodgy areas. Watch Walk Africa's videos of the better suburbs, like Rosebank, the CBD is just a relatively small part of JHB which is really enormous now!

Durban beachfront, Capetown, Pretoria suburbs, Soweto, most of the old "townships" are now lovely suburbs. Not to mention the vast national parks and stunning scenery all over the entire country.
