My first job in 1977 was working at a shirt factory. I sewed 50 dozen cuffs per day. I was paid by the dozen, usually earning $5.35 per hour. This was good money for the time. I still have a love of sewing 40 years later. Much respect for the sewing profession.
Wow the memories this brings back. I worked for three different factories and while it was hard work it felt good to get so much accomplished! Racing time to get a good rate. There were times they would let us stay late if we had a good day and do a little personal sewing. Sometimes they would have bins of fabric scraps and we could dig through them. I made so many doll clothes for my daughters dolls. And I did so much sewing for my daughter’s school clothes. But what was really cool is when you would actually see something that you had made a part of and somebody was wearing it. It always felt cool, because you were a part of that.
I am always fascinated with how fast and efficient these people work. There have been a lot of people who have worked on a single rain coat. I love watching these videos. Please make more!
When my mother first moved to NY back in the early 50's she worked at a ballet clothing factory. She said she was lucky because she had a great boss who treated the workers kindly. She used to tell me how the process was and seeing this video made me feel like I was talking with her again.
I worked at a Jean factory in 1989. It was piece work there was a flat rate but if you processed more bundles of 30 then you got a bonus. It is amazing how much work go into creating on a mass scale jeans.
I have worked in Burberry factory this year. Unfortunately things don't work like that anymore. The only thing I got out of it was stress and fear and no feeling of accomplishment since the pay wasn't worth it
Fascinating to watch. I picked up several techniques and construction stages which is very helpful as I continue to learn to sew different types of garments. Watching videos like this helps to understand some written pattern instructions, which aren't always clear. Thank you.
These ladies have my utmost respect for their talent in making the garments as well as making it look easy. From someone who has sewn for more than fifty years it is not as easy as they make it look to sew all those seams so straight and tight. The only thing that gave me pause was the fact so many had on heavy coats, why is that? Are the factory owners not heating the area? I can not think of any logical reason to have the temperature that low. Granted some of the machines create heat but not enough to warrant not heating an area that large. I really do enjoy watching these videos, and hope you continue to make more.
this was absolutely mesmerising to watch, thank you so much for the video :) found a couple of tricks I'll definitely use! i sew as a hobby and after watching videos like this i started appreciating the work put into mass produced clothes soo much more. now when i wear something store-bought i often think of the hands that made the clothes and feel gratitude ♥️
Amazing to see this process - it’s something totally inaccessible to most Americans today. Thank you for sharing the great work the people in these factories are doing. It’s amazing to see such methodical processes in motion for mass production. Please keep making these videos!
oh, I would love to wear a raincoat like this. it looks so nice. adult dresses are always dark blue or green, grey or black. color should also be available for adults. a lot of steps to do till a dress is ready to be selled.
Did anyone notice all the workers bundled up? I guess they don’t heat the factories over there, needless expense. You do what you have to do to survive.

I miss all the sewing I did at work. From football pants, baseball shirts, office seat covers, banners, machine covers, traffic signs, sign covers, sign bags, and flags. Many years gone by.

Same here I used to be a floater going from one job to another, we used to do by the dozen as well. I worked for SR Gents at Doncaster.
I sew clothes for myself at home and I love sewing very much
I need jop
Hello 🙋🏻♂️ , I want to know few things about sewing , and rain coats.

These people are so talented. The skill it takes to do this is incredible! People don't realize how much work goes into the clothes we wear.
I have full respect how quick and exact the people sew, it is hard work, it looks easy but it isn't.
Seriously! I manage to sew one straight line and I'm like jumping up and down. They look like they could sew straight lines in their sleep!
It is highly skilled work and one of the lowest paid jobs going.
I am always fascinated with how fast and efficient these people work. There have been a lot of people who have worked on a single rain coat. I love watching these videos. Please make more!
Thanks so much, we will keep making good videos.😄

Cute pink fabric. I am always amazed at how smoothly the machines run-no broken threads or thread nests!
Trabalhei por 10 anos em confecção. Muito trabalho e pouco dinheiro. Valeu.😊🌹

Fascinating! Must be cold in there. I noticed most of them were wearing winter coats.
Yes, it's winter now in southern China.😂

These sewing knives are very cool, but it's scary to watch people move their hands around them.
I work in this kind of production, I'm already used to them, the main thing is attention.
I once work in the textile industry like this one so this make me to be excited
Did anyone notice all the workers bundled up? I guess they don’t heat the factories over there, needless expense. You do what you have to do to survive.

The development of the textile and sewing industries is the foundation of modern civilization. Pay high tribute to the hard-working people.
