Thank you! I went out 1:33 and died, closing in 1:46 for a 3:20 on 10/17. I think, after watching your video, Sage, I'll be able to go out at 1:38 and close in 1:36 for a 3:14 next time. :)
i guess Im asking the wrong place but does someone know a tool to get back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly forgot my password. I love any tips you can give me
I would love if you could make a video about tips and strategies to run a trail marathon. For example something like Mont Blanc Marathon that you are planning on running.
Running Big Sur this weekend. My first marathon is in 2 days (freaks out)! So basically strive for even splits and not start out too fast. Thanks for the tips Sage.=) I hope to negative split -it would be great having energy left in the second half (but I won't bet on it).
Great advice in the video Sage. Your enthusiasm for the sport and the science behind it, is something I really admire. I've recently learned of the Galloway technique of run-walk-run. I'd really like to know your opinion on it. There is evidence it can help not only beginners but mid-packers like myself achieve faster times through taking very specific walk breaks.
Sounds good i want to try negative split i NYC marathon (second marathon and first time in nyc) There should be big bridge on 24km; until that to keep 5min/km and after that 4:50 (of course first 1-2 km slower)
Hello I have a question. This November I’m gonna run the authentic marathon in Athens. Doing 4 months of prep to do it in 3.45h. I already ran it twice and I know the root now. From 0-10km is flat but then from 10-30 km is mostly uphills around 9-13% and the last 12km 30-42km is downhill. My question is should I slow down on the uphill part and accelerate on the downhill, or should I keep the same pace 5.20 per km for all the race?
Very interesting advice, thank you!About the HR intensity, i see that the elite athletes are able to maintain a zone 4/5 for almost the entire marathon but they just run for about 2:15 hrs max . Instead for an average fit person, who wants to finish a sub 3:30 marathon, which hr zone do you recommend during the race? i don't think a zone 2 can be enough,do you think is it possible to run in zone 3/4 if properly hydrated and fed?
this is by far the best beginner marathon video on YT.
I watch all the commercials on Sage's videos in appreciation of all his time and the priceless help he has done for me with his knowledge. Priceless!
I'm running OKC this weekend so perfect to listen to today! Thanks
Thanks for this and your other marathon videos, very good all around. Just got a BQ last week by 16+ minutes, with your advice in my back pocket.

Great advice Sage, when it comes to racing "A trip to the bank is a fools errand"

Bonk?!!! I suspect that means something different in US than it does in UK
Hitting the wall, running out of energy, crash, etc. What does it mean in U.K.?

Could you do a video on proper breathing technique ?

Mother Muse Good luck at Big Sur...it's on my list of must run races.
Thanks so much! Yes it looks like a beautiful course. If you only run one marathon, it's the one, so they say.
I'm doing the Marine Corp Marathon in October. If I reach my goal time. Maybe Big Sur in 2018 or 2019 :). Enjoy the run!
@Mother Muse , I just googled Big Sur and the scenery looks fantastic!
How was your race?!
Good luck on your race!
I love watching these from my phone. He always ends up pointing at thin air...
Thanks Sage. This and your other videos have been great in helping me prepare for my first marathon this weekend in Vancouver.

Thanks Sage - a lot of good information!
Hi Sage, great tips! I love the music in your videos. Do you write it yourself?
Great topic! ran my first marathon and did exactly what you explained not to do. Last 10k killed me. Where were you in my life 6 months ago?
this video has been very informative. thank you for sharing your knowledge
You're the best Sage!
Excellent video, Sage!
Great advice, thank you
thanks Sage
so helpful thank you.
keep it up x
Dude! Loved your fast paced talk. Informative, natural and enthusiastic.
Can you speak on strategy for slower runners?????
I learned: MAINTAIN PACE!
could you make a video about downhill running techniques

just wondering if you could do a video is an absolute workout that you do after a run as i struggle to do different ab exercises.
thanks.
My 21K PB is 1:40 so my first 42.2 is exactly 3:30 in 2013.
Wait a minute, on the intro why did the grass look all glitchy when your foot landed?
Weird question coach Sage but what are those sunglasses you use when you race? The neon green and blue ones?
I have got injuries on my last race so I am at my rest. What exercises I should do if I am on rest.
Is a small positive split ok? say 3:00 hour marathon, go out in say 1:28????
I have heard that, you only bonk in a marathon, if you don't have a good nutrition strategy. Is it really mandatory to bonk at mile 20???
I'm doing my second 50k in a month. How does this strategy account in MUT running? How do you calculate your splits when there are mountains?
just go all out, until you pass out. all gas no brakes.
What if I do a 3 hour 1/2 marathon 😬😬😬. I’m extremely slow 😅
Thanks Sage . :)
