part1:Actually, about 30 years has passed since Hip Hop first came on the music scene. In the meantime, Hip Hop experienced a lot of things. Although Hip Hop, as you know, has been one of the popular music genres for about 10 years, the first 20 years had been a hard time for Hip Hop. It was because Hip Hop had been a minor music which was not aired on the radio. At first, some colored people would have been struggling with the development of Hip Hop with the help of a few white people.
Here's part of my translation. I personally feel that he was carefully choosing his words. I hope this could be helpful for some of you. Please be noted that some of the translation might be inaccurate. Thanks.
part3:In 90's, actually, some of Hip Hop artists had persisted with the style that I just mentioned and despised the commercialized ones, leading unproductive confrontations. Now, people might have been exhausted with the conflict. Therefore, most of us began to accept commercialized Hip Hop and define it as beneficial thing for advancement of Hip Hop.
and he's talking about how hip hop has commercialized in the past 10 years or so. but before that it was an underground music that wasnt even played on the radio. It was the music of the people and of sorrow or something. then he says that white people helped rappers into becoming famous/successfull. And he talks about what the original purpose of rap was and how that doesnt exist now and so on.
Now, as for its contents, Hip Hop has become kind of commercialized as one of the popular music genres. Ofcourse I don't mean to criticize that. I appreciate the value of both commercialized Hip hop and those which would not necessarily make profits. However, I would emphasize the importance of telling what someone really wants to convey even if it wouldn't make money.
I am here one year later, still studying japanese. I wanna see how did I improve, I will put myself to the test rn. edit: definitly a lot better than before but still hard to pick up what he is saying, sometimes I cant even hear the words properly, this being more than 12 years old doesnt help but I am sure a japanese persone would understand this 100% so no excuses for me. This just motivates me to try even harder.
