As a young boy I spent most of my time in boy-scouts, which taught me a variety of skills, including navigation, medical, knotting, survival and leadership. And luckily enough I had a father who taught me basic necessary skills such as how to use tools or the maintenance of vehicles, plumbing, and appliances. But what I've noticed nowadays is the general lack of these skills in not only young men but people in general. Sure the use of these skills nowadays is few and far between, as i doubt i will get lost anytime soon or need to survive in the bush for multiple days. But I am a firm believer in being prepared for any situation that may arise. As I am slowly mastering my person, my current focus is becoming a master of my body and mind, using them to their full potential. Thank you for making this video, I hope it can help some of the younger generation as it has helped me.

I actually dislike physical confrontation, but after being bullied as a kid I made sure I took some real martial art training, because every man may be called upon to defend himself or his family at any give time in life. Nothing worse then seeing a dude who doesn’t have a clue how to throw a simple punch. Fitness is a big part of that as well, but what I have found is adjusting my self-defense and fitness readiness to my body as I get older with all of my short comings these days. Sucks but it is reality! Great video.😊

Don't feel bad about not knowing everything, nobody knows everything, you're ahead of the curve by admitting that you don't know everything, that is the first step to learning about something, A prepper with just 3 of these is a long stretch because most of them live in a easy modern world. I'm more than satisfied with the skills I possess.

I agree 100% with you bro! The only tweak I would add, as it is now becoming personal experience for me is aging/arthritis or any number of disabilities that may stop you from being the top Alpha physically is gaining knowledge and using it to the best of your abilities to be the Alpha in the knowledge and wisdom side. Which leads into the biggest thing that all the list videos forget. The1st tool you need to learn how to use properly? Get your minds out of the gutter now. It's your brain. Not everyone imputs knowledge in the same way. And you need to work out what works for you and what doesn't and learn to sniff out BS. And if you can't learn what you need to learn from one person because it doesn't gell for you, thats perfectly OK but don't give up, whatever you want or need to learn there are so many different styles of teaching and information out there you will find one you can understand better. But if you look online you need to have ya BS senses honed my good man! And also don't neglect your teeth. Keep them maintained. Because the longer you leave it the more likely you will run into tooth issues sooner if you have to bug out or even go on a long stay off grid for fun. Ya don't want it ruined by a toothache bro. Love ya work mate, you give good vibes.

I 100% agree with this. I'm lacking in a few of these, but I'm defiantly working on what I can. I didn't have a father or any real male remodels growing up, so I'm a bit late to the party, but I started realizing how important this all is around the age of 20. I'm 26 now, and at the moment, working on fitness, hunting and survival, and leadership. The one I think I'm lacking in the most is technology, because I tend to actively avoid a lot of it and hate working with it, but I do know at some point I gotta start working on improving on that. I also really need to take some medical care lessons at some point here.

Great video. Some important skills you identified that I can aquire or improve upon include: First aid; Talking to small groups; Mechanics and Trades among others. As you say, it can be a lifetime effort to get and improve some skills. I would like to point out that some skills augment or help the application or other skills to develop. for instance, communication skills such as talking in public, can help with confidence and teaching and thereby the learning of the other skills or by motivating a team and completing DIY projects.

Preach brother preach!!! What it all really comes down to is THE WILLINGNESS TO LEARN! We aren't born with all the skills we need in life, but as intelligent humans we have the ability to learn. Unfortunately I see on a daily basis, men that don't know how to do a damn thing about a damn thing! Yet they aren't willing to learn anything either. They just want it all done for them or to just magically happen for them. You should never ever turn down an opportunity to learn something new even if you don't think you will need it anytime soon. Because 10 years down the road it could be something that you suddenly drastically need to know. We also live in an age with the interwebs and UA-cams where there really is no excuse for not being able to learn how to do something. You could just about learn how to do brain surgery on the UA-cams nowadays! Anyways, that's just my rant on men needing to be at least willing to learn how to be real men if they aren't already a real man, then they still should be learning more on top of that. Knowledge truly is power!

I'm a young man (24 y/o) born into generation z (unfortunately fortunate) and going through my school years I always wanted to take a shop class. I, along with my old man, where fairly upset when we found out they no longer offered it when I was going through high school. Still wish I could have done it, now I'm slowly learning how to do it out of my own pocket. Its expensive but it is fun.
I find I stand apart from the rest of my age group, I don't have the same habits or interests, there is definitely a gap in discipline when I compare myself to the rest of them. I found a small group of dudes in my town that aline with values, interests, and skills. We all share some stuff and we have opposing skills as well but we help one another out when one of us knows something the others don't. They're some good lads and I'm happy I've met them. There is a few of us that are worth while, I haven't lost hope on us and I would urge the rest of the older generations to not loose hope either. There has always been and will always be room for improvement.

Growing up without a father has been a rough ride for me (passed away when I was 2) so everything’s I’ve done in life has been self taught, from my grappling skills, to learning how to use machinery, communicate properly and just everything this video talks about with the help of father figures and jobs I’ve taken up, I’m really grateful for the opportunity to be a man raised properly by a single mother and now I have a daughter of my own and im still looking for ways that I can better myself as a man so that my daughter will have a great father figure that I never had.

very good talk down to earth filled with common sense which I feel is greatly lacking in our present society. I had to laugh about lighting that fire. I attended a seminar at a state park and a park ranger who was teaching the class tried lighting a 3 to 4 inch log with a bic lighter. I finally had to go to my truck get my knife and show him how to baton a piece of wood down to get the fire lit.

Damn, you are like my twin ! I have done so many of the things you have said ! I have fixed just about everythng from cars, motorcycles, arv, boats, scooters, bicycles, and have learned (self taught ) them too. I have learned many languages as I feel I may need to communicate in times of trouble thereby saving my butt from a bad situation. One prime example is the Mexican language. There are so many migrants here now that I bave had many opportunities to talk to them and explain many American cultural habits. In turn they explain theirs as best they can I enjoy this very much. Dspecially on ghe holidays. Felis Navidad, Cinco demayo, and more. (Spelling may be off ) My skills are never ending. Now I am making knives from scratch, primative weapons (Atlatl and darts for it).It was a cool weapn & hunting tool way before the bow & arrow. I have also been repairing bicycles. (Keeping them from landfill ) and donating them to local churches. Flint knapping arrowheads is fun too. Even glass bottles turn out nicely. Leatherwork, jewelry. Wood, copper, beadwork, and so much more. I apologize for going on so long. Thanks so much for this video twin brother !
