As much as I have learned korean it does not matter if it is between or before a vowel, it should just be in the middle of a word for example 건강 the ㄱ in the beginning is pronounced as something between k and g as ㅋ is a consonant which is pronounced as k ( thats a different thing, if you want, then I'll explain It too ) but the ㄱ after ㄴ is pronounced as G. Please correct me if I'm wrong or if someone else gave you another explanation, please explain it- thanks

why is ㄱ in 현금 pronounce as hyeongeum? why it became G? it wasn't before or in between vowels.. it's confusing for me..
