Counter Strike's incorrectly named AWP (Arctic Warfare Police) was actually properly named AWM (Arctic Warfare Magnum) in the early Counter Strike versions (pre 1.6). But sometime later it was changed to "AWP", then changed in 1.6 to "Magnum Sniper Rifle" , then back to AWP for CS:GO. And now generations of CS players have been incorrectly calling the rifle an AWP ever since.
